At least they both won special awards because they obviously had no help from their parents.

(Side note, I just rewatched this episode on Disney+ and the Rain Man joke is actually still there.)

You ever notice how in earlier episodes whenever future is touched upon Bart is shown doing something, if not tertiarily related to law, but now he's just another deadbeat? Even in Lisa's Wedding, which basically codified "dumb menial labor Bart" as the baseline for future episodes, he was taking a break from law school.

It's just another effect of the show's focus transitioning to Lisa rather than Homer.

The pivot point on that was when they made him a pothead in the episode where Lisa became president.

He also took an aptitude test early on and was found to have a very high level of talent in law enforcement.

"Lol loser deadbeat 40 year old pothead" Bart is more of a zombie Simpsons thing.

It was wildly inconsistent, sometimes, he was shown as having hidden depths that could make him go far if he'd just drop the hellion attitude and compulsion to be a pest and always go for the cheap immediate amusements (Supreme Court Justice? Police Officer?)

Sometimes, it was that he was only good for "normal" blue-collar jobs, like his Dad, but that wasn't bad, honest work is honest work. And he'd be shown to be happy as, say, a demolition worker because it's fun to knock stuff over. (Down With Buildings, Inc.)

And then, it was shown that he'd be a professional quasi-vagrant like Otto at best, only scraping by enough on a dead-end job to afford pot, or an outright hobo who can only get money by filing nuisance lawsuits or testing dangerous soft drinks....

The were never once sure exactly WHAT his deal was, because they never thought they'd last long enough to contradict it 30 times over.

So, with all this shit about voice actors apologizing for voicing black characters or stepping down from such roles. Can we expect Lou and Hibbert to be recast? Or will they just be dropped entirely?
They'll probably be banished like Apu.

We all knew it was coming but here's the announcement
Fox has released a statement on casting for non-white characters on “The Simpsons.”
“Moving forward, ‘The Simpsons’ will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” the network said Friday.

They won't have any non-white characters either. Good job, SJWtards, are you happy now? Several well-liked characters are gone, not because they died or anything, but because of racism. Yours to be specific. Now all that's left is to wonder, will the non-white characters be killed off, relegated to background, or only occasionally appear with remixed soundbites?

It's absolutely insane. VA work is the one area in the entertainment industry where your physical appearance plays absolutely no part in your qualifications for a role.
Take Samurai Jack for instance. If it was live action Phil LaMarr would never have been chosen for the role because he's not Japanese. As a black man he's probably as far from Japanese as you can fucking get. But because voice acting allows you to select for vocal ability alone he was deemed the best possible voice for Jack.
Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life was voiced by Mexican voice actor Carlos Alazraqui. Yes, a Mexican voiced an Australian, and he did a fucking great job at it too.

Honestly I'm gonna be pissed when this doesn't go both ways and they keep hiring black men to voice act characters who aren't black and proving that it's not about being racially sensitive, but because the people making these decisions are white guilt riddled faggots or just plain bigots.

Replace Kratos' and Samurai Jack's VAs!

Part of me thinks this is an excuse to save face for how old the cast is and have an easy out to voice characters that are easier on the vocal chords.

But even then how does this fix anything? Is racism finally stopped because a show that had gone way past it's prime changed the voice cast too late?

Kevin Michael Richardson will just voice everyone.

On the one hand, this is moronic - the entirety of the Simpsons' writing staff is basically Ralph Wiggum at this stage ('I'm helping! I'm helping!'), but on the other, this show has been declining in quality for literal decades, so they can replace Hibbert with Samuel L. Jackson for all I care.
