Modern Simpson writters are mercenaries more than anything. If anti-political correctness is popular at the time, they're gonna make the most lazy jokes of "trolling SJW ebic style" that South Park already made years before and a hundred times more clever and funnier. If anti-Trump climate is in the rise, they will make the most bland and safe PC jokes showing muh girl power and making lazy "muh Drumpf' jokes that could make Jimmy Kimmel cover his face of the shame.

At the very least, I liked seeing a Simpsons version of Langevin Block, now officially known as "Office of the Prime Minister and Privy Council" though I prefer to call it by its politically incorrect name.

The American embassy in Ottawa is a lot more impressive than the dinky little office building they portrayed it as in the episode. It looks kind of like a giant battleship guarded by Daleks.

Tonight's travel episode sucked ass. Almost all of them do, but this one sucked a lot of ass.

Major moments of pointing out:

  • It's one of those plots where once Lisa ends up in Canada accidentally through falling down Niagra Falls and then getting "free healthcare", with it evolving to her never wanting to leave and apparently she can't leave because you are accepted in, you can't go out.
  • Mostly a Canada dick-sucking session. They try to lure in people with the "free healthcare" hoax despite the fact that considering there is, the demand is way more than the supply.
  • The episode is about Lisa getting suckered into going to live in Canada because she hates Drumpf and environmental shit. In fact, there's a joke of Lisa trying to prevent herself from cussing about Drumpf.
  • A joke includes Lisa saying to her new Canadian teacher that she wants Canada to send a sorry note about Drumpf "insulting" Canada.
  • Lisa is only merely suckered in to go back to America through the cultural aspects and really nothing else.
  • The only good joke is Marge trying to find cars to go to Canada to get Lisa and sneak in, and all the license plates are past production numbers and she's trying to find the correct production number for the episode. Clever meta joke.

Doesn't anyone realize that health care in Canada isn't fucking free?! We pay taxes to pay for it for fuck sakes. It's like saying the roads get paved for free.

Also, next time Canada has a Conservative government, I wonder if shows like The Simpsons will still make these "OMG CANADA ROCKS!" episodes. In Canada, TV shows have a different opinion on Americans depending on who's the president. During the Clinton and Obama years, it was all "Americans are our friends even if we have disagreements sometimes!", and during the Bush and Trump years, it was/is all "OMG AMERICANS ARE OUR ENEMIES! THEY'RE A BUNCH OF EVIL BIGOTS!!!!!!11" and anyone except NPC's notice it. It's really fucking ridiculous, especially from people who claim to be peaceful and friendly.

I saw the clip where they rip on upstate NY which I assume is from this episode. It was pretty brutal, though admittedly full of inside jokes which are oddly specific to people familiar with that area.

Come to think of it, were there any references to Superintendent Chalmers hidden in the Utica shot?

It's a little-known fact that Gary Chalmers is from Utica and he's never heard anyone use the phrase "Steamed Hams".

That would imply the current writers have ever seen the show they work for, which, when I watch my annual one episode of new Simpsons to make sure it's still bad, doesn't seem likely.

It's also possible that Chalmers lied and merely claimed to be form Utica in an attempt to catch Principal Tamzarian in one of his devlish lies.

Holy shit. Tonight's Simpsons episode was decent. It was a mockumentary parody on the Simpsons solving the mystery of their stolen 600 bucks. The jokes were alright, the parody was okay, the story and the structure of it was okay, and there were no major moments of bad things or r/fellowkids shit. So yeah.

Sometimes...they pull an okay one out of the trenches.
