Oh fuck off.

Also, the new episode really sucked. Like really bad.
Simpsons, please stop being political. You guys stopped being good at it after season 7.

Also, saw that episode. No surprised it sucked, but I did notice two things:
- First off, the animation was marginally better than the previous seasons as of late. Even smaller movements seem to have more inbetween frames in them.
- Secondly, we now have a name behind the music now- Hans Zimmer, making his return to the franchise after the movie. No idea if this is going to be permanent or just temporary.

Teary-eyed Lisa especially cinches me. It's cynical and transparently exploitive I'm positive the show lampooned that kind of shit mercilessly at some point in its better years.

Love that, uh, segment (?). Second only to "Bart Simpsons' Dracula" or "The Shinning".

Bob Dole getting sucked into a tube and exclaiming "What is this, some kind of tube?" is etched in my mind as one of the funniest moments in the show's run.

Season 8, if you count the Treehouse of Horror episode where Kang and Kodos (those two aliens who appear in the Halloween episodes) pose as Bill Clinton and Bob Dole and plot to use the 1996 election to take over the world.
I always thought You Only Move Twice was genius. That part where the guards capture Bond and just shoot him on the spot always gets me.

I thought the movie was pretty good. It's not prime Simpsons but it's more like a really good episode from season 10 or 11.

I can't help but envy people who think modern Simpsons is funny again. Am i just that jaded?

...No, it's the children who are wrong.
See, I have a friend whose opinions I generally respect, and she's tried to convince me that modern Simpsons is funny, but my opinion on the episodes she's shown me as evidence is basically "Well, it's not terrible..."

I don't know, I think my problem with those episodes is that they just aren't anything. Even in the first season, back when it was finding its feet and wasn't at the heights it would reach later, at least it had a bit of an edge. Maybe the jokes didn't make you laugh out loud, but they were clever. The new episodes don't even have that.

I was watching a load of Simpsons fan videos on YouTube the other day and it depresses me to think by how much the crap episodes outnumber the good ones. These were videos made in the last couple of years, and the episodes they wanted to talk about were almost all from seasons 1-8.

Speaking of shit episodes, this week's was a Lisa-centric one.

Saw Lisa and Marge talking over a book as I was flipping channels and didn't even stop. Modern day Lisa/Marge (and, well, the entire family, really) are so boring.

Treehouse Of Horror was this week.

An Exorcist parody, a Coraline parody and a segment where Homer eats himself.

Neil Gaiman was a delight as a voice actor, and the art style on the 3D segment was interesting. That's about it.
