The Ei8ht segment (combined with the time of year, probably) has made me oddly sentimental. I just wanted to post some screens of some old episodes I watched recently

I actually liked Lisa when I was little. She was such a sweet kid *sigh*

Watched a shitty Vice documentary on The Simpsons and it pretty much sums up why the The Simpsons suck so much now. I don't recommend it repeats the same shit over and over and is woke. First Episode is on youtube: https://youtube.com/watch?v=0JO8nQA0ghk:1
Through my research I have found out that Icons unearched was remade into behind the simpsons very recently but was not as well recieved and seems to be relatively obscure.
The only reason why i know its a remake is because of the did you know sectionss of the original Vice documentaries on IMBD.
I haven't watched either but when looking at their episode list, I noticed it has the same problem that alot of Simpsons history as seen with Ortved in The Simpsons: An Uncensored, Unauthorized History as well as more recently, Dave Lee's video where a majority of the discussion is focussed on the 90's, especially the early to mid 90's.
I understand why this is often the case such as the show already becoming stagnant and unevolving by the 2000's, noticeably less coverage and interviews for the period and the lost in interests due to the decline of the show itself.
At the same time, however, it doesn't change the fact that every chapter until around chapter 17, the second to last chapter in the entire book, is abolut the 90's.
Icons Unearthed spends 4 episodes on what made the pre Bill and Oakley years what it is and its history and everythiong else after that be episode 5 and then 6 jut be about how influencial it is and merchandise years after the 90's.
Dave Lee is better but even with him, he spends around 46 and a half minutes just talking about the early 80's and 90's, then spends only around 17 minutes on the 2000s and 2010's combined with the last 3 being on it's legacy and doesnt namee or say amnthing withj a fewe exeptions that lateer episodes are known for or what they braught to the series..
I have a similar probklems with talking about how thee show itself is categorized. For example while Deeadhomersociety saying that the zombie years iss seasons 12 and over may have made more sense back then but now there have been so much more that I just don't think it makes sense to have decades be just one era while the 90's had multiple and the seasons after season 12 a\lso brought their own changes to the series and helped it decline even more. similarily if we go by showrunners we see that since the 2000's untill rrecently it has just been one meaning it doesn't actually show th show's uality, popularity or insidde stuff 100%.

I'm not going to shit on Marges voice actor or any that are too old for their roles. Let them squeeze as much money as they can from Fox/Disney. Besides have any of these people done any work other than the Simpsons?

Castell, uh.... Homer Guy used to be in tons of shit through the early 90s, iirc he was the replacement for Robin Williams for Aladdin tv and direct to video until Simpsons money meant it was cheaper to get Williams, he was also in Thunderbirds Are Go the shitty repacking of Thunderbirds with The Hood answering to a shadowy entity played by Tim Curry
Think he was Doc in the BTTF cartoon too

Wasn't he also Earthworm Jim in the cartoon?

probably, that would be around the time before Simpsons become unlimited money hax for them
Lisa was in Herman's Head, and I think either her or Bart was in Maximum Overdrive
Azaria was very noticeable in Zilla when he was basically just doing his Kent Brockman voice, forget if he was in anything else

Julie Kavner was a semi regular on Rhoda

Dan Castellenetta has been a prominent VA outside of The Simpsons for quite some time

Yeardly Smith and Nancy Cartwright did a handful of bit roles before Simpsons but nothing really noteworthy. Cartwright I remember being in the 80s Twilight Zone movie and Smith being in Maximum Overdrive and We’re Back a Dinosaur Story but that’s it

Hank Azaria has been in a few things but the only thing I really remember him from is playing the Blue Rajah in Mystery Men

Hank Azaria is one of those actors who’s been in a lot of shit but you can never remember what exactly (he was in Monty Python’s Spamalot on Broadway, but I only remember that because I saw it). Dan was also the voice of the Robot Devil on Futurama.

On the topic of aging VA’s, has there been any good new talent come up in the last 10 years or so? I mean anything like the legends? No names really jump out at me, but maybe I haven’t been paying enough attention.

This originally aired in 2021 but I had to share it for the high cringe factor. Say what you want about modern South Park at least they're more than willing take the piss out of celebrities like the earliest episodes. With the Simpsons, however, it just feels like celebrity worship meets Twitter. The way the writers and artists portray celebrities as if they're demigods that average Joe blows like ourselves can never dream of being in real life, and at best worship the ground they walk on.

They never learned from the Lady Gaga debacle.
