That's actually what irks me about modern Lisa. She never had someone or something take her down a peg anymore. In the episodes that arguably started her down the path to being an insufferable little shit Lisa vs Malibu Stacey and Lisa the vegetarian.


In vegetarian and was told "hey not everyone has to have the same opinion as you and you shouldn't try and force it on others. And in Malibu Stacey and learned you can't win every argument because there's always someone bigger and better than you.


In modern family guy whenever Brian acts like even more of a douchebag than usual he often suffers for it. Wether it was getting hit in the eyes with a bat for wearing those stupid glasses to look more like an intellectual or getting thrown a mile away by Mark ruffalo for driving that hummer around like a prick.


I think the last time Lisa ever suffered for her arrogance was my sister my sitter. In that episode she flaunted the money and respect from adults she was getting in Bart's face so he ultimately made her suffer for it. Granted he ended up discloacting his shoulder and passing out from a concussion for it but hey can't make an omelette without breaking a fee eggs.
 
"Lisa, Ned Flanders. You available tonight?"

"Didn't you hear I almost killed my brother?"

"You did? Just a minute. [long pause] What time can you come over?"
 
I'd argue that My Sister My Sitter is the opposite: one of the bigger "Lisa the Martyr/Bart the Devil" episodes as Bart is clearly the villain of the piece, putting Lisa through hell just because he can. And the ending bit, with Lisa still getting work as a babysitter coming off as a tact on "happy ending" thrown in at the last minute to negate how completely Bart screwed Lisa over.

And it's actually funny.
 
I keep seeing posts and articles everywhere about how "Graggle Simpson" is such a hilarious and totally organic meme that's just so damn amazing and everyone is just loving it.

It's been a while since I've seen people try to force something so shitty and unfunny into viral meme status. Graggle isn't going to happen. Stop trying to make him happen.

I saw videos of it pop up on my feed a few weeks ago. At first, I thought someone edited their own Youtube character into a video. Now people are making videos like how to unlock Graggle episodes on your DVD.

I hadn't watched an episode for many years until recently, I'm like this with a lot of the things I like; I have to take some time off because it all just becomes overly familiar. I had a week-long housesitting job with access to disney+, and I rewatched the first 8 seasons across the week. (the only real work was minor gardening and animal care duties)
just as an aside, it's amazing how you can watch an episode so many times and still catch new jokes or references you just weren't experienced enough to get before. I can't remember any specific examples but there were definitely a handful of lines I fully 'got' for the first time. The main point of this post as favourite episodes are being discussed, I had never really noticed The Boy Who Knew Too Much before, but there are so many great jokes in that episode. I must have laughed out loud at least 4 or 5 times, and I'm not much of a laugher. Just generally I think the david mirkin years, seasons 5 and 6, is when they really hit their stride in terms of jokes. Not just how densely layered they are, but there are so many jokes in that era that just catch you off-guard because they're so unexpected, yet feel so classic at the same time.

That's chow-DAH! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU! ESPECIALLY THOSE OF YOU IN THE JURY!

Yeah its not vonna work, Forced memes account for half of all meme's now, Its a shame because even the classics like Hams,Bees and even fucking sneed is better and at least more customisable than this In joke shite.
 
I just don't get it. I guess I'm overthinking it or something. I mean, two or three generations of us are still around that saw the show when it originally aired and there was no such character. This meme only works if you're a particularly dim-witted Zoomer.

At least pick some really old property if you're going to try something like this. But then again, Zoomers are proudly ignorant of everything that came before they were born.

The episode where Homer gets fat to stay at home on disability is one of the episode I have re-watched again and again since I was a little boy. Re-watching it again a few days ago I noticed that when Smithers and the goons bust into the John to find Homer and force him into exercise that Homer had set up a barrier behind the bathroom door to stall their progress. This is an episode I have been watching for 20 years and only now I just found another joke from the episode. The fact that an episode from 20 years ago can still surprise people and certain scenes can take on a different meaning shows how well written the show was. Fans are still finding, recognizing, understanding, and debating jokes 20 years after the shows Golden Age which shows just how well written the show was.

I'm sure fans of the show who watched it as children can go back now and actually understand all the references the show was making. Once you watch 2001, The Godfather, or Citizen Kane, so many jokes and reference the show made in its original good seasons become apparent and make sense. I now understand why Peter Frampton bitching about the loss of Pink Floyds pig he bought at a garage sale is funny, or why Bette Midler angrily throwing a soda can with enough force to blow up a car is funny.

They did a ton of Clockwork Orange references as well I never got as a kid until I saw the movie. Bart dressed as Alex in one of the Treehouse of Horror episodes, but this one I especially like (starts at 1:45)
