Honestly for me what signaled the beginning of the end for the Simpsons was the movie. I genuinely didn't like it. Some of it felt like classic Simpsons, such as Albert Brooks as the insane EPA director.
"Sir, I'm afraid you've gone mad with power."
"Of course I have! Have you ever tried going mad without power? It's boring, no one listens to you."
That was literally the only joke in the entire movie that got a genuine laugh out of me and his whole performance was perfect in the role. That, at least felt like it had the classic Simpsons touch to it.

But the rest of it? Fucking stinksville. Everything from the overarching plot of Homer and his pigshit wrecking Springfield, the giant dome, the nuclear bombing, it all just felt so fucking meh to me. And a lot of the subplots, like Bart drinking and Lisa's inexplicably Irish love interest, were just completely uninteresting to me and I wanted them to resolve faster so they'd go away. The part where they went to Alaska was when I really started cringing.

The old Eskimo lady swinging her boobs around wasn't funny. The orchestral version of Spider-Pig was groanworthy and had me nearly cringing out my spine. Spider-Pig itself was an unfunny joke that too many people tried to force to exist longer than it ever should have. The joke about showing Bart's penis was just fucking juvenile and you could tell they were trying as hard as possible in some places to go beyond the show's normal humor and into Family Guy territory.

The entire thing was a massive letdown and it really feels like it would be representative of what The Simpsons would become. Mostly unfunny with the occasional chuckle and you wish it would just fucking end.
Movie's biggest sin to me was not using any of the secondary characters at all, hell, most of the movie doesnt even happen in Springfield!

Any of you lot seen The Bob's Burgers Movie yet?

That's pretty much what I'd expect a movie based on a TV Show should be.

Simpsons Political Satire When It Was Good
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Qq7wnMvLYg4It's mocking the cold industrialists of the earliest 20th Century who were frankly shrewd bastards who didn’t give a shit about their poorly paid workers who if they didn't die of an accident would get fucking cancer later on. But it also mocks the corrupted union heads.

You watch that today and it's still relevant as ever, simply replace Japanese with the Chinese. In 50 years this gay musical will be forgotten like the rest of Zombie Simpsons.
those sandal wearing GOLDFISH-TENDERS?!?!?!?

The movie was originally supposed to happen during the early run of the show and the plot was going to be what eventually became the season 4 episode Kamp Krusty. That would've been way better, I think.

A movie length retelling of Kamp Krusty would be a hundred times better than what we got, even if it was just an episode being stretched out to include more hijinks.

Shit, now I kinda want to rewatch the entire 4th season. Some good memories there.

I remembered the movie being pretty boring. Like the moment they left Springfield is when the movie became a slog, and should've really made use of the secondary characters more.

some manner of joke about the rest of Springfield getting on just fine without the Simpsons would have been nice
like
"woah, like, why did we even care about that bald dude's kid?"
"ehh, they got contracts"

Worth pirating?
Yeah, go for it.

There's a Bob's Burgers movie? I live under a rock, so I barely know much about Bob's Burgers, let alone that its still on. More shocking than the Simpsons still being on ngl.
There is, if I'm honest Bob's Burgers has experienced a slight decline as they became more family friendly, but the show is still insanely likeable 12 seasons in.

Been re-watching the good seasons of the Simpsons and I remembered one of my favourite little character moments by Marge.

I saw Marge as the dorky kid due to this. I think it seriously adds to how she treats her children throughout the show. She was never cool at school and never saw the reason to try to be. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

One of the few episodes where Ralph was not totally spoilt by the writers as "hurr durr, funny retard."

edit:

OK, why? YouTube comments have gotten as bad as Reddit's.

What the actual fuck is this shit? Is this sped assuming Ralph is abused? Because everything we've seen indicates that Chief Wiggum absolutely loves his son, that Ralph is the most precious thing in the world to him.

Nearly every episode has a moral at the end now and it's honestly kind of awkward

The worst part is you know there's worse episodes still to come.
God I hope there is, the one positive we can take is that hopefully the failed musical theatre people and Amateur writers who write modern Simpsons episodes will one day write an episode that is mind destroying and bad enough for even The Disney executives are fed up with Al jeans shit and finally end the show. It’s bound to happen at some point.

Jesus christ the joke is Ralph is so stupid that Chief Wiggum's education in stranger danger left him not understanding what his special area is. That's why the animator has Ralph's eyes glance down to Marge's hand, if Ralph was written to have been sexually abused he'd immediately shriek in horror.

And yeah Ralph was supposed to just be a poor student. He totally upstages Lisa in their George Washington School Play showing the character was good in memorization and how to theatrically portray emotion.
