I wonder how many Indians actually love Apu because of those qualities despite him being a stereotype. Sort of like how Mexicans love Speedy Gonzalez and Scottish people love Groundskeeper Willie. They might be a little offensive in that they are poor and speak with exaggerated accents but they still have positive virtues like being clever in Speedys case or being manly enough to wrestle animals one on one in Willie's case. Stuff that you might like your culture associated with like being brave, hardworking, and intelligent.

And by Indians I mean Average Joe Indians, not rich and sheltered Indians who cry on Twitter over the first problematic thing they see on TV because their lives are so devoid of conflict and hardship.
When they try to do that now we get shit like...Julio...

I’d imagine the people who like Apu and Willie actually know how to laugh at themselves. Something the PC crowd is incapable of doing.

This reminds me of the controversy that the episode where the Simpsons come to Brazil ended up sparking down here. Turns out they touched some very specific nerves - Namely, people eager to swindle tourists, over-sexualized kids shows, high crime rates, and filth in the streets. For a good while, that one episode was even banned from being aired.

And guess what? It was the catalyst to finally popularizing The Simpsons over here in Brazil.

My favorite prank call is the one with Moe threatening to "pull out your eyeballs and shove 'em down your pants, so you can watch me kick the crap outta you".

It's a shame the Northern part of the America can't actually follow such examples and have to be offended every chance they get.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=BvH3cU-kfuMStill my favourite Bart Prank Call, damn his parents must’ve hated him to call him that.
My favorite is "Homer Sexual" just for the hilarious visual gag later in the episode.

Come to think of it, the prank calls to Moe were one of the earliest big hallmarks of "Classic Simpsons" to fall by the wayside. Even before the "Golden Age" seasons were over, they had pretty much stopped them and only brought it back if there was a a way to put some kind of spin on it like using a telegraph or prank calling Homer while he was filling in for Moe.

I wonder if Hugh Jass knows Joey Joe Joe Jr Shabadoo and Guy Incognito?

The Continental Soccer Association is coming to Springfield! It's all here: Fast kicking, low scoring, and ties? You bet!

You'll see all of your favorite soccer stars: Arriaga. Arriaga 2. Barriaga. Arruglia. And Pisozza!

The DVD joke is slightly reused from the all singing all dancing episode where the VCR spat out the tape of paint your wagon, but i do love how the player not only spits it out but goes up in flames.
