The NIS America Thread

Has anyone played vol 3? How is it? I see mixed to positive reception so far.

I already played Rhapsody (remember it was nice but short). Very much enjoyed La Pucelle, you see a kernel of what would become Disgaea and it has very good pixel art and great plot moments, kinda make me wish back for how much NISA did exaggerated jokes but still had an emotional core (and using sprites for plot moments rather than VN style). The extra story mode is worth it.

4 is the best, but playing chronologically is still recommended. As for gameplay it's like Final Fantasy Tactics but with wackier mechanics.

Hearing that is what made me try Disgaea, but I didn't like it. They don't feel like they play similarly. They share the same genre, but it was a lot less intuitive and the stage design felt much less tactical. Kinda like just being thrown into a thoughtlessly designed stage versus the more meticulous design of FFT's stages and enemy placement.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I find that common sentiment somewhat misleading. Kind of like comparing Sonic and Super Meat Boy or something. Maybe I was just bad at it, but I don't really like many NISA games.
