I'm referring to Sailor Stars (I think that's what it was, never released in the States), had something about some of heroes changing gender.

Why didn't they just say they were "very good friends"?

Lots of characters from children's shows are obviously gay, and often there isn't even complaints from parents or reverends since the former doesn't watch and the latter's too busy outing Tinky Winky. Naruto and Sasuke, for instance, couldn't have been gayer if they blew each other on screen. I don't remember one time catching Jerry Falwell complaining about gay ninjas in orange corrupting children.

Lord knows nobody complained when Cartoon Network had not one, but two, very flamboyant and effeminate devil characters on their shows.

This game was cheesy as hell and not that feminist; SJWs are just as guilty of fetishizing lesbians as gross dudebros.
 
So does The Mary Sue like or hate gay guys? A lot of these groups have been shitting on Gay men recently.

I don't really view SJW-types as capable of truly liking anybody. To truly like someone, you have to be capable of not turning on them faster than Floyd Mayweather after being told you want to leave the house to hang out with your friends. Even their precious POC's or LGBT's or Wimmens are only useful to them as long as an imaginary and ever moving line is toe'd.

That said, I'm sure you could find at least one passive aggressive snipe at gay men in their thirteen pages of LGBTQ articles alone. And personally, I've already seen quite a bit of that in their articles on the Stonewall movie.

When you put it that way, these people must lead really sad fucking lives. They don't have friends, they've cut all of them off. They prevent themselves from enjoying things or even saying words. They literally have nothing but bile to live for.
 
So what do you think the Mary Sue's endgame is? Is this website ideologically driven, or is it just a cash grab directed at the SJW crowd?

Could be both. For the former, it could be driving some sort of ideology from some staff members, provided they follow it. With the latter, there is the need to make money and what better way than making it all for the SJW crowd.

Probably both but I think it is mostly ideologically driven. I also think SJWs could easily conflate ideological and financial reasons in some ways. A major and defining SJW trait is that they can convince themselves of anything and come up with excuses about anything like for example hating white men just for existing. It would be very easy for a SJW to convince themselves that what will bring them cash (or e-fame or whatever) just so happens to be the one and true correct perspective on the matter.

They can't even be happy for other people who don't fit their set standards. With the new age of late night talk shows, a regular person would be happy for these hosts' hard work and success. But not The Mary Sue because it's full of white, privileged men (with the exception of the Larry Willmore) or the guy who wrote the original article for Vanity Fare (who they think is a hypocrite for the picture that was put up). Heck, the commenters even think Larry Willmore only got it because he's a lighter-skinned POC.
