She seems to be a fan of Megan Fox..?
Apologize for what? Megan Fox likes that her supposed attractiveness got her in Transformers in the first place. Hell, I distinctly remember that when Jennifer's Body came out Megan Fox stated in an interview that she doesn't have to be a good actress because people think she's hot. If she's done a 180 on that then that's hilarious, especially since Michael Bay is still the only director to give a shit about her.

I remember a time long ago when I watched Transformers with some friends, and a few of them got really hung up about Megan Fox's thumbs, the horror.

TL;DR: Ariel's a mermaid, her race doesn't "matter". It's not "right" to compare Ariel to Mulan, Pocahontas and Tiana. Their is no "red head character genocide" going on.
I heard about this!!! I was so upset.
First off, The Little Mermaid is a Danish fairytale. Therefore, shouldn't we respect their culture by portraying them as they lived and what they looked like???
Secondly, isn't there a big thing about black women and getting their hair wet? Mermaids live under water. This doesn't sound off to anyone??

Ariel is one of my favorite Disney princesses. Her entire character design is amazing. There was no need to change it, and while Jodi Benson can't be live action Ariel today like she was on Broadway in the past, that certainly doesn't mean that we can't have a red-headed blue-eyed girl be Ariel today.

Though maybe we should give a pass on getting an anorexic girl.

I look forward to the day when they can cast asians to play Africans.

their are small communities of Lebanese, Indians and Chinese and all other Asian ethnicities living all over Africa.
It would make perfect sense for one of them to play an African princess.

Because ya know, if it's totally fine for a Scandinavian mermaid to be black because people will argue that their is an African community in Scandinavia, then what about the Asian communities all over Africa?

Joker was a really good film about class disparity and mental illness, and how the system often lets down the most vulnerable people in society (which we live in).

Woke types don't like it though because they get uncomfortable when they're reminded that being poor isn't restricted to any one race or sex.

God damn these idiots are salty about the success of Joker:

Rachael Leishman actually seems to be having a mental breakdown.

It's actually really interesting because if you read her Twitter mentions, she can't keep her story straight on why she hates it.

Sometimes, she'll say it's because she thinks that the Joker is better unexplained, since the unknowable is inherently more intimidating. That's a credible argument, something I'll actually give her. The problem is that she uses about a dozen other arguments, starting with my personal favorite, the "I don't want to empathize with him" argument, and its chaser, the "how dare this movie I don't personally like win an award over something I do" argument, followed by the "movie isn't that good anyway" argument, which the academy sure as fuck disagrees with, and finally, the piece de la resistance, "only white men wearing fedoras like this movie."

It's actually funny because her Twitter feed shows she's learning that she can't do these without getting blown the fuck out. Like an animal testing the boundaries with a shock collar, she's gradually learning which way doesn't get her ratio'd.

Actually, you know what's really funny? Gotham in that movie is painfully similar to NYC in the late 70s/early 80s. Ask anyone who lived in NY at the time or has any real experience with it and they'll tell you, it was a shithole, and one of the many contributing factors was that, in their infinite wisdom, a lot of state-sponsored psychiatric institutions got shut down, throwing those people out on the street. People who were never going to be able to hold a job and who more than likely were never going to be productive citizens.

It's hard for it not to be when one of its influences was the 1976 Taxi Driver, set in that very New York.

Tbh I kind of liked Times Square when it was a disgusting shithole, which it still was well into the '90s. And after that it became Disnified.

“If you like Joker, fine, but please stop forcing it down my throat."
"If you don't like Ghostbustesses, Captain Marvel, or the Mary Sue Star War films, sorry it is my moral imperative to give you the Clockwork-Orange treatment until you like them."

That's a little optimistic in my opinion, I suspect they were initially expected to dislike it on what they were told and they're too damned proud to back down since the 'bad guys' like the movie.. So now they're scrambling for rationalization of emotion even as it becomes clear their approach was total bullshit.

If there's one thing you can rely on with the internet it's that people will refuse to back down even when they're proven wrong and they just look stupid by carrying on.

If this movie was done exactly the same but with a woman, POC, gay, or trans character, they would have left the movie theater seats soaking wet instead of acting like it personally tried to murder them.

This is why I want a Poison Ivy film in the same vein, but she's totally unsympathetic instead.
I don't know. I love Ivy so that might cloude my thinking but Poison Ivy being sympathetic sort why she makes a good villain in a first place. She is an environmentalist and wants to protect plants that can't defend themselves. That's fair enough but uses absolutely insane tactics to try to accomplish her noble goals. She thinks very badly about humanity in general, witch most of us can relate to at least when having a bad day. That's kinda why she such a sex bomb. To her men are weak, stypid and can be distracted with mare naked flesh. While she has awesome powers trough plants, she herself isn't that strong and often needs to use less direct means and trickery to have a shot. She is a pretty well balanced character so you can get her point easily and even kinda root for her but still easily recognize that she's the bad guy for a good reason.

It's more so we can see dangerhairs tie themselves in knots trying to defend genuinely horrific behaviour.

I kind of miss 1980s-era Greenwich Village at times, even if coming home at 3 usually meant you had to be careful not to trip over the dead gangbangers in the street.
