I hope that you're right. It's just that, as written, it sounds as though the kid was singing Disney songs before being able to say 'Hello, Mum/Dad'. All reminiscent of OPL claiming that his first word was 'monkey' at the age of six. Gender stereotyping I couldn't give a toss about either way, but if your sprog is singing Let It Go all the way through before A is for Apple, then it's time to lock Elsa away for a while and get some story books out.

We also have nothing but a parent's word on this, and parents tend to embellish the achievements of their progeny just a tad.... especially the feminist kind that thinks their kid has a grip on gender issues before they've learned not to jam honey nut Cheerios up their nostrils.

My youngest sister would watch The Little Mermaid on loop for hours. I actually would watch her wait until the tape ended, get up, rewind it, and then play it again from the beginning. She was four.
:offtopic:When I was young (three or four, actually) my older sister watched The Little Mermaid at least once a day for months. And I was no better because my favorite movie to borrow from the library was Fantastic Island (when it had to close the librarian set it aside specifically for me to keep). Both VHS' wound up getting a little messed up in the front.

More than likely he couldn't even pronounce half the words and was just mostly making word-like sounds.

'My son loves Frozen. We watched it twice a day for months. He could sing every word of “Let It Go” before he could speak in full sentences.'

The voice of The Mary Sue, ladies and gentlemen. I want to believe that's a lie, because if it's true - gawd help that poor little kiddy. Gawd help him.

Troon-by-proxy is one of the few things around here that I get genuinely angry about. Your kid is their own person, not your fashion accessory to get more likes and re-tweets.

The good news is that four year olds grow out of this fairly quickly. If Mommy is still forcing this crap down his throat five years from now, then she's earned a ticket to the special Hell.

My ex-girlfriend's baby cousin could sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in English before she was speaking full Czech sentences. It was the most darling thing I've ever seen.

The second thing was the frenzied, unhinged rage about his mere existence. People who otherwise didn't care voted for him just to piss off these shrieking idiots even more. Spite is a powerful motivator.

There was an article during the election about how, in a place in college where people would write stuff in chalk, someone wrote, "VOTE TRUMP" and people lost their shit. The administration promised an investigation, students were talking in interviews about how they weren't safe anymore, and I thought, "You know what. Fuck those people. I hope Trump wins just to ruin their shit."

Getting back on topic, I'll just let this quote speak for itself:
Removing Columbus Day is not about erasing history, it is about correcting something that was always a problem.
Yes, Columbus was a screw-up and far from the greatest explorer on the planet, but it's ridiculous how people act like the plight of that time directly affects their lives in the present.

Seconded. A majority of troons seem dead bent on making their kids into troons too, whether or not they actually have gender dysphoria. It's like everything that the anti-gay groups have said about "gay parents forcing their kids to be gay", but with "trans" in lieu of "gay". Children of trans parents have it hard enough without their parents trying to make them dress like the opposite gender just to satisfy their parent's egos.

Late as a bumbling bumblebee, but any idea why they're called Mary Sue? A Mary Sue character is a literary aberration at best and an absolutely insulting travesty to storytelling at worst (AKA; Standard). Why would you name your news thing after one of the most hated and provably terrible archetypes in writing?

If you asked them, they'd probably go full hipster and claim they named it that ironically.

They're "reclaiming" it. Allegedly, people only hate Mary Sues because they can't stand strong female characters, and the term Mary Sue is an insult used by men to denigrate the works of aspiring female authors and discourage them from going professional.

...at least, I don't know if the website uses that specific argument, but it's an argument that I've heard people make elsewhere and it makes sense if that was their line of reasoning.

Yeah, reclaiming it, while ignoring that Marty Stu/Gary Stu is also a thing. Is TMS a wanna-be Kotaku, or is it the other way around?

I swear their reasoning is identical to 15 year old girls who write bad fanfic and then try to justify it. Are we sure TMS isn't staffed by a bunch of high school kids?

Funny enough they ignore the biggest critics of Mary Sues back in the day were girls. Like if guys barely gave a shit about fanfiction.

It's sort of fitting, considering that even as fake news sites go, TMS is one of the most hated and provably terrible clickbait sites in existence.

And ignoring that, "in story", the Mary Sue characters often were anything BUT actually ~Strong Female Characters~. Plus they'd treat the canon female charas like complete shit, doing their best to portray the canon girls as useless or as bitches so their self-inserts could get the guy without any "interference".

Yeah, a Mary Sue was essentially so amazing and so frail and weak that people did everything for her anyways. The whole point of the Mary Sue is that they're 'too good for this world' and they need to be protected. Doesn't help that they always have powers and said powers are always some deviation of Deus Ex Machina.

Also hard to reclaim a word that never meant anything good and was never even meant to insult females due to their gender, even back in the women-are-second-class-citizens days (The aforementioned Gary Stu was a thing since Mary was).

Getting back on-topic, the Kotaku comparison was apt since they seem just as inept and irrelevant, except Kotaku doesn't have a self-insulting name (discounting the smearing they did on the word 'Kotaku').

I'm not letting this go. It's like going to a website call 'I Hate Jews Central' for your political news.
