The thing I don't get is: These SJW types all like to scream about "privilege" and oppression but how many of them are comfortably middle to upper middle class? They all seem to conveniently forget that their existence is far less "oppressed" than the homeless guy under the overpass, even if he is a white cishet male.

Class always seems to conspicuously not count where privilege is concerned. Said homeless guy is more privileged than Oprah due to him being white and male.

Which means that "Privilege" is completely worthless.
It also means bell hooks ideas about intersectionality, which are shaky to begin with but at least make you think a bit, are being co opted by 101 level retards at best, and a bunch of dropout troons and tumblites at worst.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, SJWs bring up class warfare all the time. Go to any thread on some tankie or antifa troon and all they talk about is their idiot proletariat revolution fantasies.

Those are just idiots who think that if there was a real revolution in America that they'd be a part of it instead of being the first on the chopping block.

John Steinbeck once wrote about how the only Communists he ever seemed to know were very bourgeois people - these people are their spiritual descendants.

Anyone else remember their meltdown over Game of Thrones because it depicted rape? Even though rape has been occurring in the series since the first book.

Now that they found out Iron Fist didn't get good reviews, they're pretty happy. And mainly because the show let the main character be white.

I find that when SJWs talk about class, as long as you're darker than the other guy, even Phillip Banks is more disadvantaged than Al Bundy. Everyday Feminism covers class issues quite a bit.

Yeah but in the first book it was done by Khal Drogo, a proud Man Of Color, and as we all know rape is bad unless a strong POC does it, in which case white sluts should be honored and open their legs to them.

Feminist fangirls on the internet oddly love Khal Drogo, even if he's a confirmed slaver and rapist.
It's a weird thing with them. What exactly do they even like about him?

Not sure if this article has been brought up yet, but...

https://www.google.ca/amp/www.themarysue.com/diverse-comic-sales-not-readers-fault/amp/

The writer of this article fails to understand that Readers = Consumers. Surprisingly, the majority of readers who used to buy the comics aren't willing to put up with having political narratives shoved down their throats- who knew!

A minor thing but it bothers me how often they push the narrative that comic shops (or conventions, or game stores, etc) are unfriendly to women. I go to lots of them, especially when travelling (so not just the local shops that know me), and they are overwhelming either very friendly or average. I'm not sure what their expectation is, but retail workers in most industries are pretty run-of-the-mill and if anything, comic shops are better than average because the staff is interested in the product. Lots of them have women working there or at least female customers; I'd say when I look around most shops it's a 50/50 gender split (yes I'm assuming their gender).

Anyway I think constantly saying they're unfriendly and hate women keeps more women out of comics/vidja than the actual employees do. I've had a lot of lady friends who said they were scared to go to comic shops who had perfectly bland experiences once they just fucking went. The SJW rhetoric is more harmful than the occasional douchebag behind the counter.

The problem isnt the abstract it's the application, you can look at curve trends and comment "group A genrally have it better than group B" which is pretty useful for socialogical/demographic analysis. The problem is it's far to unwieldy to apply IRL which is why social justice warriors find themselves looking stupid when they try to use it because they're usually upper middle class so their fiscal wealth and security trumps any other shit going on.

As a woman I've never had issues with comic shops or bookstores either. Never have I experienced any level of sexual harassment from them, let alone any form of harassment at all.

Granted I've been all over Canada and have gone through many comic and hobby stores- not a single issue in all twenty years.

I've been to major retailers to buy games, dedicated gaming stores, and comic (and non video) game stores and not once was anybody ever rude to me. A few awkward looks from really awkward looking guys every now and then, but that's it, and I sure as hell wouldn't file that as harassment. I would have to wonder if perhaps they're not starting the issues in the first place, assuming they're not just making shit up.

Speaking of games I saw complaints about the new Zelda being problematic for trans people over in Dobson's thread. Incoming article about how horrible the new Zelda is soon?

I think these people are basing their ideas on what it's like for women in comic shops on what happens to Penny anytime she goes into one in The Big Bang Theory.

One time I went to a comic store with a woman. We flipped through a couple of erotic comics. No one cared.

While comic book store owners and staff are usually pretty good, there is something to say about how the hobby can be unwelcoming for women. Obviously I'm not a woman, but I do remember in my old tabletop gaming club in college, girls had a high attrition rate. Something about this hobby attracts a lot of guys who are unbearably awkward if not outright creepy towards women.

From actual RL stories I've heard. The harassment girls get don't happen in comic book/rpg/videogame stores, it happen at tabletop RPG sessions, gaming sessions, and other closer social group activities. Usually with guys that have no clue or misinterpret not being a bitch to them as interest and then inappropriate touching or comments and such.

I don't think it would be much higher to work/taxi cab/random propositions on the street type of stuff pretty girls get though.
