If the chucklefucks at the Mary Sue are anything like a lot of the other feminists I've seen, another common consensus in regards to tomboys is that they aren't actually interested in any of the things that would make them be considered tomboys, but rather their internalized misogyny is so strong that they only gravitate towards what they perceive will be the biggest middle finger to "girly" interests. For instance: thinking no girl would actually willingly enjoy comic books or other nerd shit, so it must be because they just hate themselves that much and only follow them out of spite.

You know, like what The Mary Sue does.

It's for one of those very reasons I consider TMS to be a self hating site for women where merely advocating female empowerment is not enough, they have to be holier than thou about it.

As someone who still has some feminist leanings, I've noticed all the ones who make feminists look insane are the ones up their own ass about what they believe.

Ironically, this is absurdly misogynistic gibberish.

Tomboys don't think what they're doing is "transgressive" or any such bullshit. They're just doing what they like. It sometimes comes as a hurtful shock when just doing what they like gets turned into "you just want to be a boy" or other bullshit, including troon shit.

Obviously I don't know this from experience, but from listening to what other people have told me.
 
Considering the reaction people like The Mary Sue writers have to non-feminist women I'd say the idea that they're trying to cover for their own misogyny has some merit. Especially since they'll reeeee forever if male geeks do anything that can be perceived as misogynist yet ignore the massive amounts of at times fairly extreme misogyny that exists amongst female geeks (especially yaoi and slash fans).
 
Reading how much the folks at TMS get 'angry' over how this or that character gets represented as being either gay/straight/whatever i sometimes wonder how big of a grasp on reality do the writers have.I mean if someone told them 'those characters don't exist' would they listen.
I know its redundant but if you get that worked up over fictional characters that are the result of the imagination of some writer then maybe you need 'help'.Or maybe just cut down on the hallucinogens for a while.In fact try avoiding drugs altogether for a time.Of course the folks at TMS would probably cry 'offensive' for suggesting their writing style is evidence that maybe they're borderline insane.
 
Apparently the Mary Sue staff think it's a smart idea to set up a fake rejection phone number for women to give out to people which, when called, reads off a patronizing screed to the caller about how they're unsafe around women: http://archive.is/XK7rA

There is no way this is ever going to get anyone's ass kicked if the woman is spotted later by the same person, or the same person gets that number from another woman and remembers what it is. There's a perfectly valid concern about rejected people who turn to violence upon the rejection, but I'm pretty sure the solution to that doesn't involve insulting them and winding them up further.

This is just The Mary Sue jumping on the 'Ask For Angela' thing that some bars have instituted now, where women ask for a fictional person as code for 'My date is a creep, get rid of them'.

That's an old, old trick. My mother said in the 70's her and her friends memorized the non-emergency police or other similar phone numbers to give guys who pestered them for a phone number.

And if a guy gets violent because a woman didn't want to give him her phone number/gave the wrong number then I'd say they deserved a patronizing speech.

You are literally arguing that a woman who refuses to give you her phone number deserves to be hit. So how often do you hang out in the Incel thread?
