Hoo, here comes the 'tism.

For one, we got a post by Al Caynes. If you're not familiar, this was the guy who was with Matt Loter when Jeremy got assaulted (but didn't get involved with the attack). He has proceeded to issue a statement of EVERYTHING IS FINE, NOTHING OCCURRED, I HAVE ENDURED SUCH HARASSMENT FOR THESE LIES AND SLANDER:

Of course, it's kind of hard to pay attention to this when the Indy Star already confirmed this happened with the police.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, more and more of the usual suspects are emerging to crow about how good it was that an assault happened:

Do you know what gives sensationalizing idiots like Jeremy ammo? Shit like this.

I'm surprised any of them still have feet considering they keep shooting theirs.

From what I have heard, Gencon knew about the assault, and ran an ad for Matt's game a day after being maxe aware of his assaulting Jeremy. It was the major reason that he was able to "completely sell out" at the con. It advertised a 25% off of the game. So they already knew about the assault, had spoke with the police about it, but supported the Vendor that assaulted their own congoer. That is what kind of doomed Gencon for me. They knew the whole time and still backed the asshole financially with an advertisement on their twitter.

Damning! And you heard this from... where again?

These people need to remember, the weapons and idealogy they push now will eventually be used by their opponents.

If assault and battery becomes OK, a valid way of preventing those you don't like or don't agree with from appearing at Cons or making their opinions known, it'll be used on them. Lord knows their some old grudges, some BAD grudges in the Tabletop industry that pretty much the mantra of "violence is unacceptable" kept from getting any worse. If violence becomes a valid tool, there's gonna be blood.

When it does, then they'll cry the same battlecry they cried not too long ago: "VIOLENCE IS NEVER A SOLUTION!" and "Violence is the failure of critical thought!"

Maybe they'll scream it when they're getting their faces caved in.

you completely lose your shit whenever Jeremy is brought up

Only because they tend to be threads where there are "two sides" that have the majority wishing to see one gain an edge over the other. Separate the "SJW" angle from something like MagicGate, and it would have been treated as embarrassing and reeeetarded as Chris-chan vs the Game Place. Because it is seen as essentially "rooting for the heel" (something several have accused me outright of deliberately doing), it appears as the mockery is coming across as frothing, indignant screaming. I will accept that, however again I must point out that said cardgamegate did, in fact, end roughly the way I said it would, and another battle against SJWs in Comicsgate is starting to shift goals, change methods, and huge happenings! are starting to be forgotten (speaking of, is a FTC case still being talked about?). Like I said they would.

Autistic and angry as it is, things happening roughly exactly as I say they will nearly immediately after going "No really, this is what will happen..." doesn't exactly make me self conscious about posting said diatribes in those kinds of threads, ya dig? If that looks like angry screaming and hoping the bad guy wrestler wins for once, I'll accept that.

I like reading your counterpoints. There's nothing wrong with a doubter or a cynic. Even if I disagree with you on some points, I still like reading your opinion on it all.

Well, this just got interesting. Witness this dumbass:

He's apparently a Nerdist writer and associated with a lot of the usual suspects. Doubt he actually knows anything but there's a lot of murmuring by his buddies that Hamblyburger Helper getting assaulted was the best thing ever, so if nothing else this asshole and his associates are doing nothing to help Loter's case.

Look here Ben, you and I both know you aren't gonna do shit. Some dude walks into your stupid card game club with a MAGA hat on, you're going to ask him politely to leave.

You know how I know that? You're acting tough on twitter, you have your mouth open like I'm showing you my Nintendo switch, and you think people want to "engage" you on twitter and feel when they do, that you're preventing them from entering your safe space by saying you don't "owe" them a conversation.

You aren't going to defend anybody. You're going to run away with your head ducked down as you walk by MAGAman in the streets then write about how you bravely stood up to him on your tumblr when you get back home.

Christ..I remember when nerd stuff was full of smart guys who were interested in things that required abstract thinking, memorization, and minor mathematics. Now it's full effeminate weirdos in beards that want to scream at you in a lisp for making a sex joke.

I’m not sure WotC or these “tough guy” magic-adjacents really understand the silent downside of their antics.

I don’t know what kekistan is, but to the best of my understanding, a store lost their license due to some autistic flag that was hung in their bathroom.

I’ve only seen one of Jeremy’s videos, (which was enough to be convinced he doesn’t actually play magic, he didn’t know what search for azcanta was), so all I know is some sperg got punched in a bar for having shit opinions.

When you’re not involved in the day to day twitter frothing over this shit, it’s a huge turn off. It doesn’t take a lot to knock off a long time casual consumer. Wrong-think being punished both financially and with physical violence is more than enough push.

At several of the game stores I go to regularly people have been joking about Wizards revoking the store's license because of off-color jokes. The sad part is everyone is fully aware it could realistically happen, which is actually going to make your average LGS less excepting of new people.

It's always worth checking to see if such accounts are made from sockpuppets such that the villain(Jeremy) is faking his own abuse to provide himself with ammunition, or "Gamergating" his own harassment. In these instances, no, it appears Jeremy is not faking his own harassment and these are really just really passionate fans voicing their honest opinions about wishing Jeremy would die in a fire.
:story:

I've been playing casually for 20+ years and don't know what that specific card is. Not a great barometer of involvement IMO.

Keeping up with magic was far too much effort and expense for me. Sometimes deck themes would spark my interest enough to build or buy one just to mess around with the mechanics, and I liked EDH, but that's about it. Honestly Jyhad was a better game, natively multiplayer, and had wheeling and dealing involved rather than just bludgeoning one's opponent. Shame it essentially failed while magic kept going.

Dunno about Jeremy's angle on this, but Matt's campaign of DFE has continued, with him deleting his Twitter Account entirely and trying to scrub the web citation archives.

On Twitter there's been some chant that, prior to it being deleted, one of Matt's buddies sent him a public message on Social Media that Jeremy was attending Gencon. I've seen no evidence to back this claim but will keep an eye out.

Matt Loter is also, apparently, is also a professor and Quinnepac University.
Why the fuck is it always the college professors who are violent psychopaths?
