You guys are way off here... in this situation Jeremy isn't flying off on his own accord, he's got the entire comic community backin him and basically telling him what to do and what not to do, including Ethan Van Sciver and our boy Zack. So if he's not doing interviews it's likely because they specifically told him he shouldn't.

Even if that were the case/mattered, I'm under the assumption he more or less exaggerated the entire thing hoping to get some buzz and is having it blow up too much beyond his control.

I also don't know what yaboizack and Frogman would be coaching him to do, either, since both of those guys seem like they'd be pressing him to make a bigger deal out of it, from what I know of either of them.

And yes, the fact he's profiting from this isn't unexpected.

Something's is up. He was "attacked by an SJW!" but couldn't find anyone to back him except one neckbeard and a bunch of disinterested strangers who didn't feel like arguing him, everyone looking for a police report suspiciously can't find one (to the point his fanbase is accusing people saying as much of helping to actively cover it up), and is dismissing the idea of what looks like an easy lawsuit- albeit still encouraging people to kick into the "warchest" to fund one.

Indy Star directly references the report in question in the article, and states it was filed the second time which corroborates Hambly's account of officers disregarding his allegations the evening of, on account of him being drunk. Indy Star probably went directly to IMPD for the report, instead of looking for it on the state court records database which is going to take time to update. There's no indicator of foul play or ulterior motives in this so far, just bureaucracy being bureaucracy.

He's profiting off of it because we want him to. Does he deserve it just for a whack on the head by a eunuch puss boy who ran away like a scared little girl? Mmmm, arguably not, but you're missing the Anita angle of it all.

With any luck she'll be stupid enough to open her mouth.

Just sit back and enjoy the show, this will be fun, trust me.

I'm not actually, I posted earlier I fully expect him to get an "insider source" anonymously inform him she was in on it.

If you're actually expecting her, personally, to comment about it you're in for a letdown.

Well, not really, it would be more of added bonus than anything. Anita is pretty smart about this sort of stuff, she generally knows when to keep her mouth shut and when to start screeching like a stuck pig.

"The bar didn't call the police about a drunk guy's shirt being damaged!"
"GenCon didn't call the police about this fight that happened off convention property!"
"The police didn't file a report after they were called about an incident in a middle-class hipster bar."
"Not filing a police report is like closing it."
"I know the police have better things to do then care about the safety of a man with no visible injuries, but it still hurts my feelings that they closed it."

Nobody ever accused MtG players of being street.

You know who else had "no visible injuries"...

Seriously, you get hit in the head... go to the fuckin hospital and get an MRI. A bump on the head can literally kill you.

I find the con's reaction far more interesting than one goofball hitting another.

Today I learned the secret ingredient of OxiClean...

ALTERNATIVE: "That's not coke... that's.. err... OxiClean! Yeah!"
HI BILLY MAYS HERE TO SHOW YOU THE AWESOME POWER OF RAILING COKE OFF A HOOKER'S ASS

To their credit, what are they supposed to do?

It didn't happen on their grounds, there's little to no police evidence it happened, the man is a known liar, his fanbase are known spergs, barring the guy deleting all of his social media shit there's no solid proof he's even the guy who hit him (from their perspective, we obviously know it's an indication), if he was even "attacked" like he said it was and not just an every day bar bitchslap episode, etc and so on. Just look at reporters and news websites just saying "We can't find any police report as of this time", his legion of faggots are for the most part accusing them of helping cover it up.

This might just be my intense, autistic A-Logging just because I hate poor sweet intelligent Jeremy so very much for absolutely no reason, but look at the situation as a convention organizer and ask yourself what good even something like "Even if an incident occurred, we certainly don't condone any violence towards anybody ever."

I'm pretty sure disallowing all discussion goes beyond "look like" and gets into "covering up".

The cover up just looks like not wanting hundreds of mongoloids screeching about something that may or may not have even happened the way they're saying it did.

There are a number of things that they should have done to cover their asses legally.

1. They should have been vetting their vendors and this guy, with his "punch Nazis" shirt, his open threats of intimidation, violence and premeditated plans to assault patrons and start fights... never should have been allowed in. Either as a result of EXTREME ignorance/neglect they booked a crazy, violent fuckin nut job as a vendor.

And the law doesn't recognize ignorance/neglect as a very good excuse in most cases.

2. Upon hearing of the altercation they should have IMMEDIATELY contacted authorities and worked with them to try and find who was responsible for the attack. Instead it seems they just outright ignored the whole thing even though there was more than ample evidence that it directly involved patrons of THEIR convention.

Normally, if you run a convention, you need to make sure you stay on shit like that simply so you don't wind up black balled, even if it may NOT be directly related to your convention. There are a LOT of people who HATE these sorts of conventions and look for ways to try and pressure hotels and city leaders into denying permits and so forth for their venues, which is why you need to stay vigilant, have lawyers, lots of volunteers to act as glorified mall cops, talk to police, etc, etc, etc. If your convention becomes synonymous with crazy stupid shit, whether it's violence or, like in the case of the now defunct Rainfurrest, plastering shit filled diapers on people's cars... you will no longer have a convention.

3. They should have issued a statement about the situation, not necessarily naming names, but a statement regarding the attack and how they were working with police, beefing up security, etc, etc in order to address and alleviate fears and concerns of patrons of their convention. Again, ESPECIALLY as it involved one THEIR patrons and, most importantly, one of THEIR OWN VENDORS. Instead, again, they simply IGNORED everything and pretended like it never happened and did nothing to try and alleviate fears and concerns of their patrons.

4. Upon even the slightest HINT of learning that it was one of THEIR OWN VENDORS, they should have IMMEDIATELY removed said vendor/booth, contact the police (again), let them know that it was potentially one of THEIR OWN VENDORS who was responsible and again should have worked with law enforcement to try and track the guy down... instead I guess they've just got a crazy maniac on the loose and... they just don't care! :D

5. They will be sued... the city will potentially be sued... the hotel where the convention is at will potentially be sued... they ARE legally liable for this shit. Make no mistake about it, they fucked up in so many different directions the best they can hope for at this point is to try and make some kind of deal with Jeremy to entice him into NOT pursuing litigation against them... because they will lose. Neglect and ignorance are not favorable traits in the eyes of the law, especially when it comes to personal injury lawsuits.

They are FUCKED on a level I don't think most people even realize at this point... I don't think they've even realized it themselves. If they have any sense at all they will get a lawyer, right God damn now and do exactly what the lawyer tells them to do before they wind up screwing themselves even further.

They're not.

I have a general idea of why people would think they are, but they aren't. And then when people start to realize they're not, they're going to get mad and wonder why. And they'll start to assume it's a...

conspiracy.

Hambly isn't going to let you eat his dingleberries. Calm your tits.

They should have issued a token statement, sure. "Convention management is aware of the alleged after-hours altercation that occurred between two attendees off convention grounds. Our plan is to fully cooperate with law enforcement as requested, convention rules still apply, and we ask all attendees, guests, exhibitors, vendors, and staff to conduct themselves civilly." Or some shit. That's on their head, and by pooching this they're threatening the Streisand effect, but that's on their head too.

Outside that, lawsuits are fucking stupid. No way the convention would be held civilly liable, since Loter is there on his own time and his own dime, and the alleged attack happened after hours and off grounds. Any judge with half a brain would throw it out on grounds of frivolity in a heartbeat. About the worst Hambly can do is get the responding officers deposed, at which point they say he and witnessed were drunk, uninjured, and the bar which was the party to receive property damage refused to cooperate, so they said "fuck it" due to a lack of reliable information or cooperation to pursue investigation. The court rules against him because that's a perfectly reasonable response to what allegedly happened, and Hambly goes home having scored some victimbux from fans with more money than brain cells.

I get that you don't like lawsuits, a lot of people don't, but you really have no idea how personal injury lawsuits work or who/what can be held liable. Again, it was their vendor, the guy was openly posting his intentions to attack people before the convention, they invited him anyway, as a vendor, knowing full well he had planned to attack patrons.

At best they can hope Jeremy is a "good guy" who will just let it slide... at worst Jeremy will use the $10k he's gotten in donations and will immediately go to a lawyer who will clean house... on everybody. You'd be amazed at what you can do legally with $10k.
