I'm really loving Windows 11, Copilot and Onedrive are such great services and Edge is a much better browser than Firefox and It's so helpful being able to search Bing right in the taskbar

Really great having an OS where everything just works without having to install 5 broken snap packages maintained by a random troon

Why the fuck were you using snaps?

Mint requires even less setup and tweaking than LTSC windows and I realized that all the more technical gaming distros suck for gaming the moment I went back to Mint. Troonix can be less technical than Windian LTSC in some cases tbh. Gamer distros are fucking bloated out of the box, Mint is 3 gigs while Bazzite is 7. Nobara and Bazzite somehow kept finding a way to fuck themselves but Mint or Ubuntu, or even Fedora, just won't.

this is more of an open source issue but did anyone notice that adaway is currently by default blocking archive.today?
I tried to install it the other day and for some reason it just blocked all of my traffic in VPN mode no idea why.
I checked GitHub and someone else reported it a few months ago but it wasn't resolved

Might be due to the "ddos" the archive.today owner was doing a while ago
I remember they did it with us for a bit too. would not be suprised if the devs are trannies.

I dont know why they expect nobody to notice a passive aggressive code change that prevents people from accessing a site people unironically rely on.

Lmfao when did RTFM turn to "github give mean .exe" level of demonizing tinkering or customization? The more Linux gets popularized among normalniggers the more I hear this gay ass 'just wuuuuurks DURRRR troonix DURRRRRR' shit spread all over. If you're too lazy or too hooked to goy daycare for it that's your fucking problem, whining about people who want proper sovereignty over their computing is exactly why Linux should stay a niche for the technically apt. Accessibility and its consequences have been a disaster for every niche in existence.
Terry said it best. Computers were ruined when they started being made for niggers.

I never heard about this but turns out it gets worse, they had been altering archived pages to defame a security researcher
Yes, the owner of Archive.today engaged in conduct that can be considered a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, which directly resulted in Wikipedia blacklisting the site. Starting in January 2026, the site’s operator injected malicious JavaScript into its CAPTCHA page that used visitors' browsers to send repeated requests to the blog of security researcher Jani Patokallio, effectively weaponizing users in a DDoS campaign.

The ban was finalized on February 20, 2026, after Wikipedia editors discovered a second severe breach: the operator had tampered with archived web snapshots by inserting Patokallio’s name into preserved pages to frame him, destroying the trust required for archival integrity. Consequently, Wikipedia removed over 695,000 links to Archive.today from its English-language pages, citing the malicious code and content manipulation as unacceptable security and reliability violations.
Unless null plans to add a archive system to the kiwifarms there aren't a lot of good archiving sites left

I dont mean to derail but even so if its between archive.org and .today Id still have to pick .today as Ive seen people who even run really REALLY small websites get their entire sites removed from there with just one report

Finally switched back to windows, the final straw was Discord livestreaming has no sound which is apparently a thing only on ubuntu based Linux

I love the idea of Linux but the constant shit the doesn't work for no reason just wears you down
You could have done a minute of research, and discovered that your system shipped with pipewire and not pulse, that discord's audio capture is configured for pulse, not pipewire, and fixed the problem easily. This was not a Linux problem. If you want to blame discord, fair enough, but this sounds like a problem of laziness to me.

Expecting things to 'just work' and letting it wear you down when they don't is a gross modern convenience. I'm so tired of seeing it. Imagine a group of Paleolithic humans sitting and crying in the mud because their new bows didn't hit the target. Determined that hunting is a waste of time, they become emaciated leaf eaters.

To clarify, Ubuntu does come with pipewire-pulse installed, which is a compatibility layer that should've worked

However, snaps get sandboxed so you need to deliberately give them access to pipewire

Discord does not offer a snap version because snaps is shit, but if you use the Ubuntu App store by default it will offer the snap version which is made and maintained by an unknown third party volunteer. Some reaserch indicates that the Discord snap packaged does not make the configurations needed to make audio or screen sharing work properly. @man of the people never specified, but assuming he installed using the ubuntu app store it is very likely he installed the snap version

Reminder that Mint completely removed snaps, even though that requires them to maintain their own repository of certain popular apps, for this very reason. Snaps suck and cause problems where there shouldn't be.

The only thing Pipewire hasn't done yet is fully divorce itself from Pulseaudio (for most utilities), and because Pulseaudio raped so much of what was a simplistic audio stack we need yet ANOTHER sound server to fix everything it fucked up.

With so many people in this thread using Discord, I didn't realize Kiwi Farms had that many transgender users.
Discord is the shittiest social network ever but it’s also the only way to get support for some things. Just be prepared to be asking the same question that’s been asked a thousand times because there’s no real way to find a specific and dedicated topic relevant to your question.

I stuck my head in a retro computing adjacent discord a few years back, and that was exactly what it was, after a week there was nothing new, same questions, same answers, same thing that could have just as easily been a forum with an automatic search feature. Then I noticed all the trans flags and trans signaling, so I got out before I bought any socks. If anyone asks I just tell them I've been banned from Discord.

Every now and then a project requests I make a discord to communicate with upstream but I've started just saying no, deal with me on git or don't talk to me. I've got 100 contacts on foss platforms you can talk to me anywhere except discord
