I mean, the style of Fried Chicken most commonly cooked in the US with marinated chicken, and a dry batter on the outside originates from Scotland and the written recipe predates the declaration of independence - and hell, even the 7 Years Wars which basically put everything into motion.

There are definitely other types and styles of Fried Chicken. Chinese cuisine loves to fry meat and put it in sauce - look at how they worship chicken and pig in food. - Which fair play, it is nice. And how can one not love a good stir fry?

It's not even ingroup to them necessarily. They just say that. A lot of that stuff is just southern food (that yes derived from scots irish that were indentured or poor free men settling in those areas [and also heavily inspired by a mix of French depending on the area]) but with even more sodium. My province's public transit system has speakers on the long distance buses that give pre-recorded safety announcements, let you know what stop is coming up next, etc. The announcements are delivered in both English and French. Several months ago, they replaced the clean crisp female announcer's recordings with the voice of some jeeta. The new voice is fake cutesy, has a noticeable lilted accent, and even drops a fucking word in the middle of the sentence ("please stay seated until we come to complete stop" instead of "please stay seated until we come to  a complete stop" like it was im the previous recording). Ffs. It's like sandpaper on my brain. They replaced the previous recording for genuinely no reason, they didn't change a single thing except making a brownoid re-record it in a brownoid voice. At least they haven't touched the (clean, crisp, male) French version of the recorded announcements yet.
