  • Heat shrink wire label on a signal wire for the HV bus was installed over the insulated portion of the ferrule which kept the ferrule from being fully inserted into it's terminal block. This was fine until it wasn't and caused the active HV-LV breaker to trip.
  • Both backup generators were not hooked up to their primary fuel pump that would automatically supply fuel in case of power loss
  • The HV-LV breakers were set to manual mode not allowing automatic transfer to the other breaker after power loss.

Some nice jugaad mentality on display here, who cares if the generators' primary fuel pumps are broken if you can still get it to work with the backup pumps (until, of course, that breaks too).
 
Had to take a call from an Indian guy (customer, thank god) at work today. Randomly in the middle of the call, because of the guy's thick as cement accent, I remembered the /int/ banter and the "poopy for a rupee" line. Almost pissed myself laughing at the thought and had to put him on hold. It'd be kind of sad if it wasn't a jeet, the guy actually spoke english pretty competently he just had an almost comedically thick accent

India would need Communism. I don't think anything else is really capable of fixing the place. Shit like the Rwandan and Singaporean models only really work with already relatively high-trust societies with low populations (the Straits Chinese & Tutsis respectively). India is too big for that kind of shit. You'd need a total military overhaul, a violent slaughter of every thoughtless multigenerational landlord Brahmin subhuman, a massive internal migration to bust up entrenched ethnic and clan structures, a campaign against female infanticide, and a few decades of constant cultural war upon the old ideals of Hinduism and Islam until you can give up the whole project and get your Dengist, pseudo-Capitalist society going.

The cultural revolution and the era of Communist rule in China before Deng are the only reason why China doesn't share India's reputation. Do you know how vile and common shit like the queue and feetbinding was before that? China had its own system of clan lineages that intruded on the state, it had insanely barbaric customs regarding filial piety (there's a specific ritual in which the children must slice off sections of flesh off their bodies for their parents to consume), debt bondage leading to something around 15% of the population being straight up rightless chattel slaves, female infanticide, and gaudy, ultra-expensive rituals regarding the numberless gods of Chinese folk religion. The only reason these things aren't present in China today is because of Marxism.

India gained its independence under a very vapid form of anti-colonialism, spearheaded by castrate clerks of the British Empire. The only people who had actual meaningful plans beyond autistic revanchism and a Hindu Rashtra were Ambedkar and some other fringe communists nowhere near the auspices of power. They had one chance, literally one chance, to turn their country into something other than the two thousand years of feudalism and degeneracy that preceded that moment, and they fucked it up because they wanted to have a worthless dick-measuring contest with Pakistan in the mountains.

You might think Communism is a retarded thing to implement in wealthy, western economies. But on every level it massively improved the feudal, primitive, agrarian societies of Tsarist Russia and Warlord China.

I mostly agree with your comment, but i disagree in a few key areas:

1. “Agrarian Russia was better because of socialism.”​

Not really. By 1914 the old Tsarist system was already cracking, but Russia wasn’t some stagnant peasant state waiting for socialism to rescue it. After 1905, the empire was industrializing fast—railways, electrification plans, mining, steel, and telegraphy were all expanding. A lot of this was pushed by Witte and Stolypin long before Lenin or Stalin ever touched the economy.

Foreign money, especially French, was pouring into key industries. A lot of the tech, managers, and skilled workers the USSR later lacked already existed or were being trained before the Revolution. The Bolsheviks basically had to rebuild the expertise they themselves scared off or executed.

Many European analysts before WW1 openly said that by the 1920s Russia would be too strong to confront. That fear was one reason Germany and Austria were willing to roll the dice in 1914. Hitler had the same calculation in 1941: he attacked because he thought waiting would make the USSR unbeatable.

Even Stalin’s own policies show how dependent the USSR still was: he literally starved Ukraine so he could buy Ford factories, American steel mills, and entire industrial plants. That doesn't scream “socialism made Russia industrial.” It screams “we destroyed our industrial base and now have to buy it back at the cost of millions of lives.”

2. “China benefited from pre-Deng communism.”​

Nope. Mao’s era almost demolished China.
  • The Great Leap Forward: tens of millions dead.
  • The Cultural Revolution: schools, universities, and whole fields of expertise wiped out.

There was no “foundation” here—just wreckage. China only takes off after Deng brings back education, foreign investment, and sane economics.

3. What actually helps countries modernize?​

Education, imported technology, and gradual industrialization—not ideological purges. Russia was already on that path before 1917, and China only got on it again after Mao was gone.

Sure, Mao's era without the famine parts and the lack of pre war chaos and rampant opium addiction was preferable to the warlord era, but that doesn't make it good.
