After reading the izzat post i wonder how many indians commited suicide after Kitboga trolled them with his scam busting videos.
Not enough? Not enough.
But yeah I'd take my race's Face over India's Izzat. Holy shit, I never thought race politics could get this bad.
It's also something you choose to impose. You don't like being pushed to be an overachiever by unbearable parents?
Simple.
End it with your children. This concept vanishes completely. At some point I asked my dad about tiger parenting. After some talking, his ultimate reason was "well my dad did that to me so it's a custom", see the problem? It's not. Obviously there's issues with bringing kids up to be totally undisciplined free birds but the least you can do is not continuing toxic cultural practices.
The idea of "face" isn't ingrained in Chinese and other Asian societies as much on a foundational level. The wealthier an area is the less its residents will care about this stuff because it's seen as "bumpkin behaviour". If you're doing something stupid, it wouldn't bring shame to say, everyone with the surname "wong". This Izzat thing, if the poster's interpretation was accurate, is incomprehensibly worse.
I think "face," though, especially the non-Chinese varieties, is generally rooted in an actual sense of honor of some sort.
It's not. China's about control. Once the people knew that bad air was killing a bunch of people yearly and their grandpa could be next, the CPC must fix it otherwise they'll face major backlash. China's societal sickness is the opposite of countries like India and what Falungong trash might try to claim. If you want something, don't bribe officials. Simply make up some minor shit and report them to their higher ups, get your family and friends to do it. And eventually, you'll get what you want even if it's illegal, like cutting someone out of a will. People in China's banking sector (who looks after wills) does this all the time and it's a retarded bureaucratic mess.
I don't know about Korea but Japan's not really about honour either, it's all public perception. They'll act like that and then get drunk off their arses and pass away in the metro. Japan has so called "slums, ghettoes etc." as well. Like China, they hide them away from the public and to be fair, Japanese "slums" are clean and safe, unlike Jeet slums. Did Japan or China solve the homelessness in their cities? No. They just offloaded it and hid it from the public.
