And yeah, you're right. A dalit who suddenly gained enough Izzat to lord over someone would be every bit as cruel as a higher caste Indian. Probably even more so, since he's gotten to taste power for the first time in his life.

I'm aware this post is a joke but the actual reality is, you've seen Indians at jobs jump back and forth and spend 3 months trying to trick each other into doing work that only takes 15 minutes, so if they were to actually take over countries, what do you think would happen on an entire country level

Yeah its like comparing dog shit to cat shit. However, I think Indians are worse due to their greater potential to spread and infiltrate western culture. There’s way more of them, plus they are more likely to speak English which gives them a major advantage.

With the two cultures in general if I was forced to live under it, Shiria still takes the cake. Yeah no bacon or Alcohol, but middle eastern food >>> Indian curry slop where the only meat in it is the dead skin from eating it with bare hands (or rats/flies that fall in the pot). Also there is at least some emphasis on cleanliness in Islam which is pretty much non existent for Indians

It sounds like I encountered similarly bizarre cultural view on honor and morality in Iraq. There we gunshots a few streets over on my very first patrol. They weren't at us or even particularly near us, but when we were debriefed it was explained how shooter(s) did this to prove how brave they were. Myself and the rest of the boots were confused as as hell. Someone shooting randomly into the air 100 yards away is brave, how? There was a long explanation about how their view of honor and what is honorable is very different from ours. The shooter(s) displayed their strength (shooting randomly into the air) and their enemy (us) did not stop them or punish them for it. The fact that we were no position to do so didn't matter at all. They showed how strong they were and we were shown to be weak. That brought them honor and showed how brave they were.

It was also a society that operated on tons of bribery, corruption, nepotism, betrayal, general low-cunning scummy behavior. Cheating someone was a good thing as long as they didn't realize it. Being viewed publicly as righteous and just was a good, you just do everything as underhanded as possibly to be seen as strong and righteous. It was much smarter and more clever to lie and cheat rather than be honest. Why be honest when you could potentially get more by being dishonest?

Depends on the religion. Buddhism and other ascetic traditions tend to cloister themselves from public life in India, so they are deliberately stepping away from the conflict driven by Izzat. I can't imagine ridiculous honour feuding would be compatible with Buddhist detachment from Samsara. Sikhs practice honour killings, so it's safe to presume they're caught up in Izzat too.

Although they sometimes cause the same reactions (refusal to admit error and vengeful responses), I don't think they're really the same. Almost all the East Asian cultures have some variants of face, and it is more concerned with often subtle social failures that Westerners and Americans in particular would not give a single shit about, to the point they're baffled when Asians engage in these practices.

I think "face," though, especially the non-Chinese varieties, is generally rooted in an actual sense of honor of some sort.

The jeet version is completely fucking retarded if it is being described correctly, and I think it is, because jeets actually do this stupid fucking retarded apeshit subhuman stuff all the time.

By extension, Jains would also be outside of izzat, but they're a pretty small group anyway. So it's basically Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims technically since the term is at least a linguistic import. Although, I think someone said it came from Persian so now I'm wondering if Zoroastrians are similar?

As much as I want to believe that that description of Izzat is accurate because of how funny it would be if it was real, I have to take it with a grain of salt because of how outlandish it sounds. If it really is as OP describes it, surely we would've heard about it in the last 1258 pages of this thread by sheer virtue of how outlandish it is.
Also, can you tell me more about these "social failures" that Chinks make a big deal of?
