This is so fucking retarded. The point of a dowry, I would think, is to demonstrate that the man or at least his family can provide for the wife and the imminent children. It's like a down payment for a car. So why then in India does the woman's family have to pay for it? They're not the ones supposed to be providing. That's the man's job! It's so backwards.

I understand why his wife abstains from meat. In India, it's a pretty quick way to catch some literally-who disease from the 13'th century that'll kill you in a week. However, getting the family to be vegetarian, that's just retarded. A woman conforms to her man's culture, not the other way around. It's the man's job to bring his woman, and their subsequent children, into the family, not just his immediate family but the tribal family. Furthermore, for a VP candidate no less, refusing a hamburger is downright unAmerican. I'd almost want him to eat a small steak live on stage to prove he's not Hindu lmao.

Also, I would've thought it would be the Mexicans to build a 90ft tall statue of a DragonBallZ character.

One of the funniest things I learned a while back was that the Indian wonder, the Karni Mata, which has an aoe boost to villager gathering, is actually the rat temple seen in those "disgusting Indian cooking" videos, can you believe it? lmao. Now I like to imagine that the gathering boost is due to the rats scurrying around like micro villagers.

The dowry has always been provided by the woman's father in all cultures, I believe. The father is basically paying the man to take his daughter off his hands, and take on the financial burden of providing for her.
 
Today I learned that Indians have successfully taken over every gas station in town (there are eight of them). They also took over the town grocery store and the liquor stores. The last thing they could probably take over is the town pharmacy. I'm going to assume that the new owners have fired the former staff. Which sucks, because my favorite cashier worked there. He was a pretty chill guy who always worked the night shift.

I am absolutely livid 💢. I would be happier with more Chinese; at least then there would be the possibility of Asian food at the town store.

I'm not defending this in any way but if they are going to be here, they should take menial jobs like this, that is where they belong.

Do all of the work and break your ass to get a high paying tech job and solve a shitload of company problems they've had for 10 years virtually overnight then get stuck in a meeting with some dipshit blue haired libtard diabetes HR karen roastie cunt who says we have to give equal equality equity time to some remote street shitter making $3 an hour who says you fucked everything up when you clearly didn't because they are trying to perpetuate a lie to get you out of the company.

Still though, in a perfect future with India nuked, retail and gas station jobs were supposed to be for white teenagers, for the ones who actually want to take a leg up and get their shit together instead of partying and getting high.

Tbf, when a woman's family provides the dowry, she's bringing stuff she'll use throughout her married life. It wouldn't be just money, but utensils, furniture, clothing, and the like.
With this kind of dowry, it's more like paying the whole price of the car upfront. Agree with you otherwise, I think a father should be proud if he's able to send his daughter off with a sizeable dowry.

That expansion also had Japan. I only ever played the Japanese from that expansion but China had some interesting things going on for it like every unit being trained in predetermined batches kinda like Russia but they are a mix of 2 units rather than Russia making only a single unit in a batch.

I'm from a really backwards rural place in Eastern Yurop (my dad is the first in my family with indoor plumbing and he had to use an outhouse for all of his youth until he got married that's the level of backwards I'm talking about) and dowries stopped being a thing even during my grandma's generation. The only dowry I know of were these two really ugly, garish and worthless closets that my great grandma's family apparently gave to my great grandpa when she moved in. Shows the level of development of Poojeetland when they still obsess over dowries and don't even have outhouses to relieve themselves because a street or river does just fine!

I know about dowries because they get brought up in films (like the Godfather trilogy), are seen throughout history such as in Roman times, and are a thing in Middle Eastern culture. It should go to show you how much I encounter, or think about, dowries that I thought it was the husband paying the wife's family and not the other way around.

I wouldn't be tipping 20% at those prices either (I'm not Patrice O'Neal), but then again neither would I be eating out at that price. I'm the sort of n'wah that past a certain point I just go "Fuck it, I'll make it myself." I mean it too. I can cook pretty well. But what this 'jeet should realize is that he's in New York City. Spending is not supposed to be comfortable unless you're a banking Jew with fuck-you money. In casual restaurants I just round up the total and in more formal restaurants it's somewhere from 5 to 10% depending on the quality of service. That's what my parents taught me. That's the European way. Fuck the American tipping culture.

I like your posts and was disappointed when you were banned for a bit, but you're being retarded.
It's PLing but I'm a white woman (see that I've posted in various BP threads as proof) and am in DAR.
I know about dowries because I like learning about history, especially topics that relate to women in general. Dowries are not India only like you're implying but happen all across Asia. The example I was thinking of as I wrote my post was from the book "Japanese Girls and Women" by Alice Mabel Bacon where she described that the bride would bring cloth, thread, and sewing needles as part of her trousseau (and if divorced, she kept her stuff!).
It doesn't take being Indian to know women bring home goods with them when they marry.
