Unfortunately, I was three at the time so I remember jack shit, but I still know what it is.
And that's the key to this. We all know about 9/11. We know it was a fucked up event, whether we remember watching it or not, that has effected the world for over a decade. We know it's significance to the United States and beyond.

He thought it would be forgotten about like a celebrity arrest.

It's like Jay to not care about a huge tragedy. As I stated before, I'm not surprised that he didn't know what 9/11 was, and no doubt on top of it, he doesn't care. Guaranteed if he managed to get himself a heartsweet, and she died some time down the road, he would be back online within an hour, looking for a new one.

Not unlike someone else we follow. I think his name starts with 'C'

Speaking of 9/11
Fun fact: As of July 2014, Jay did not know what 9/11 was. He said he saw two burning buildings in the news and "thought it would all blow over in a week."
While the whole thing only took 102 minutes to blow over, he spent the last 13 years not knowing what 9/11 actually was.
Wow, how autistic of him.

I'm seriously thinking about making a "who said it: Jay or CWC" quiz. Because when Jay gets BLANGRY, he kind of writes a lot like Chris. Here he is, complaining that no-one at college noticed the special way he held his backpack:

Our epic golden hero said:
Obviously, I'm the exception. This is what's so...amazing to me. On top of that, here in college it feels like every "individual" is FAR too busy in their "own worlds" to notice all the points that make me different from them...and everyone else. For example, I actually hold my backpack horizontally (I imagine it's a machine gun firing "from the hip"). NOBODY Else even HOLDS their backpack (except for one other; and even that person isn't AS big as I am in this), let alone in this way; NOR do they think about doing it. THE most perplexing fact is nobody would even NOTICE this anomoly!"

if i saw someone walking holding their bag horizontally id just be like "wtf" but not say anything

I was seven when 9/11 happened-keep in mind that as an Australian kid, America is practically on another planet-and I remember that day. I didn't fully grasp how bad it was, but I knew it was serious, because of how freaked out my parents were.

Jeez all you people are making me feel old...I was deployed overseas when 9/11 happened.

I bet people sure do notice the mulleted weirdo who carries his backpack funny. Whether it not they mention it to his face is of no consequence.

"I HOLD MY BACKPACK SPECIAL. LOVE ME!"

Usually when people see kids like him they try not to make eye contact and/or assume he's autistic or something and just ignore it. The way he's holding his backpack sounds like the way one would hold a purse but my mental image may be wrong. Either way it doesn't make him special.

This is utterly tasteless I know, But I couldn't get it out of my head

Yeah GK must believe that any attention is good attention. Sure they are laughing at my mullet and my backpack but at least they noticed me. Which turns to they are laughing with me. Which turned into I was actually quite popular and everyone knew me and my track hair cut.
