Amazing, yet not surprising, that JayZ would take over a decade to understand what 9/11 is despite being an American.

Also, I've decided that I'm just going to continue the dramatic reading once I return to college on the 25th. I'll be off on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I'll have the time to do it. I'd do it now, but I'm going to Florida for a week for vacation (my cousin is getting married as well).

They all seem to be wrapped up in their own worlds. So naturally they aren't going to care about national news unless it impacts them directly and they certainly aren't going to care about the importance of such events. He might not have lived in DC at the time or else it would have directly impacted his life with the panic the city was going through. He was a kid in school when it happened so he could have brushed it off initially and just didn't care about it afterwards.
Can't remember exactly which dA journal it was in, but Jay has lived his whole life in his current home.

Agree about the possibility that he might not have understood the significance back when it happened; he was 9 at the time. However, it is surprising that a Freedom-Loving©, Liberal-hating, NRA-qualification-getting American Patriot like Jay isn't familiar with 9/11...

Are there no 9/11 references in CoD or the Tom Clancy vidyas?

Oh whoops I misread the love quest journal and thought he was initially from Mass. It is strange that is an event that must have effected him in some way and he didn't care what it was. You would think his parents of have explained it to him at some point.

Saw these on his TIPM journal. If someone's already posted it, let me know and I'll scrap it.

It's said that my generation late 80's to early 90's kids) can tell you alnost every detail of their lives on that day because it was so traumatic. The incident wasn't anywhere near me, or my friends but I can remember everything. I believe Jay is in that same group. I'm disgusted with his lack of emotion towards 9/11. Normally, I save this for Chris but....

Fuck you, Jay

Speaking of 9/11
Fun fact: As of July 2014, Jay did not know what 9/11 was. He said he saw two burning buildings in the news and "thought it would all blow over in a week."
While the whole thing only took 102 minutes to blow over, he spent the last 13 years not knowing what 9/11 actually was.
How. Just fucking how? I was in high school at the time so a bit older but for the next day or two we were glued to the TV at school. At home plenty of TV channels simulcast news coverage for a couple of weeks. There were telethons, there were TV specials, every single bit of media was about 9/11 for what felt like forever.

How in the holy hell does this kid obsessed with TV shows and vidya avoid 9/11? This seems impossible.

Even my little brother, who was six at the time 9/11 happened remembers every detail of that day. But then again, he has like a 4.8 GPA or something - he might be good at remembering.

I was 6 years old when 9/11 happened and I remember it rather clearly. There was an unusually big commotion in the Russian evening news bulletins, which reported that there has been a terrorist attack in New York and Washington and that passenger planes have collided with the WTC and the Pentagon. When I looked at the live footage of the burning WTC, I couldn't believe that skyscrapers are really that big.

I have no idea how did Jay manage to ignore an event that would shape American foreign policy for decades to come and lead to numerous wars. You can't just ignore events of that kind of magnitude - it's like not even noticing that USSR has broken up.

I was in fifth grade when 9/11 happened. I remember that day vividly, and I'm notorious for having a bad memory. I don't think Jay wants to be liked, considering redeeming qualities are alien to him.

The only thing I remember is that elementary school had just started that day when the principal suddenly came on after the first bell and told teachers to disregard the bell and to go into lockdown. It didn't last long and I can't remember if he later came on and quickly summarized the attack in young-kid terms ("there has been an attack/incident in New York, please remain calm" probably), but regardless school went on as normal aside from kids wondering what the heck was going on (texting had not been invented yet). It's actually kind of concerning that I remember more clearly playing with two McD Happy Meal Matoran guys - specifically the red armed, yellow mask fire guy and the white armed, periwinkle mask ice guy - in the same room that my dad was watching more news coverage that following weekend, then I do about the actual 9/11 date and what I even did that day.

I'm in aww how someone go clearly gets most of his news from Fox News doesn't know what 9/11 is

I remember it, I was like 5. I remember the night before there was a lighting storm (and it was the first one I had seen ever) and I saw the burning tower videos on the news before school and didn't understand. My first grade teacher was talking about it and I raised my hand and was like "but did you see the lightning last night?!!!". I wasn't the smartest kid ...

That I can agree with, cause I cause remember all of that morning, even the dream I had that morning just before I woke up. And you'd think with the 10 year anniversary on '11 would at least make Jay remember more of the event than he actually does.

I think Fox News still talks about 9/11.

I've seen 9/11 happen via the news when I was in kindergarten.

I think the point is Goldie's a skinny retard and no one will have sex with him.

Edit: I see what you did there, censored word filter...

I was six. That's really the age at which you can start remembering shit like that, but I remember very little because I am autistic and at that time, one of the ways it manifested in me was an inability to understand why planes crashing into the WTC was important, but of course hearing about it for years after the fact I at least know what it is and retrospectively understand its relevance.

Unfortunately, I was three at the time so I remember jack shit, but I still know what it is.
