I love how 7s setting is so broken after all the compilation and remake shit that "Hojo is doing retarded things again" is a reasonable excuse
They also rely heavily on Shinra Secret Projects for new plot elements so it’s really baked in.
Over the years they really morphed Shinra from a mildly-competent company with one or two big industrial secrets into the hollow Earth Illuminati.

I wish that we could have destroyed that retarded incel cuck Seymour harder.
One of the most redundant villains, and I’m including that Balamb Disciplinary clown car.

And yeah, just like Seifer, his big flex is that he can make your summons disappear. :stress:

Maybe you'd like the congo line of humiliation he goes through in the gacha game Opera Omnia. He basically gets treated like the most low-level jobber of all the villains. He's the first guy you fight and beat up, he doesn't even get to turn into his final monster form like all the other villains, and none of the other villains care for him. There's one scene where a few villains are trying to work out alliances for their next schemes, and when someone asks about bringing Seymour another pretty much goes "that useless betacuck? lol no."

During the storyline where Braska shows up and joins the team, Seymour stands over in the corner watching Yuna reunite with her dad and starts fucking seething hard and literally says "Why does Yuna get to be happy?" Later he teams up with Xande to try do some shit he thinks might destroy the Dissidia world, but at the end of the arc when it becomes clear it doesn't work that way, Seymour starts having a mental breakdown over it while Xande just looks at him awkwardly and abandons him without saying anything. Then Seymour starts following Sephiroth around and starts acting like a retarded fanboy over hime. Sephiroth acts like he only barely tolerates him because he doesn't really have anyone else to work with by that point in the story, and eventually Seymour realized Sephiroth is just using him.

To make it short, in the second-to-last chapter Seymour is so mindbroken that he has a conversation with Yuna about how he's jealous of her for growing up in similar circumstances but not being a mental case and becoming a hero, and she finally convinces him to chill out and see the hope in the heroes fixing up the Dissidia world instead of constantly trying to kill himself and everyone else. The last time you see him, he runs into Ultimecia and wishes her well in finding inner peace like he has before walking off. (Ultimecia does not find inner peace, she crashes out the hardest of any of the villains in the end despite having like half a dozen heroes from four different games who sympathized with her all trying to convert to her to their side)

Weyland never even comes close to winning, and goes bankrupt. Shinra could still potentially come back after total destruction.
I'd also argue that Shinra employees seem to have pretty comfortable lives, as long as you're not SOLDIER or involved with Hojo shenanigans. The Turks seem pretty well off, and some of the other minor character staff met in Crisis Core aren't too miserable as far as I recall.

So I guess the question is am I stuck as a grunt level employee at any of the options or do I have the opportunity to move up?

Weyland Yutani seems the least safe option in terms of employee death rates at any pay grade. Shinra is evil yeah but also just wants to win at business so as long as I am a positive contributor to the company bottom line I feel like I'd be pretty safe there. Assuming they don't actually win so hard the planet dies anyway.

Post your favorite waifu (For true and honest women) in the franchise, followed up by your husbando (For true and honest men)

Ask Shinra Manager about that.
It’s been years so I don’t remember exactly which mission it was (maybe the one where you steal the MKVI robocop guy), but in Shadowrun Dragonfall, you’re breaking into some corporate office park and explaining to Dietrich the life of a wage slave in a megacorp and he’s just like yeah I'd rather be dead.

If you participate in the fandom you will notice that the people who thrive off the anti-capitalist interpretation seemingly have no time for Aerith in particular. Because she's such an obvious problem for that take. Everything else can be resized and resituated in the narrative to magnify their preferred take, except for her and she has the most iconic scene and the longest direct contact with the central plot. They also tend to present the game as having a pro-mental health message to tie up the loose ends around Nibelheim that also don't neatly fit anti-capitalism but can still be enlisted in basically the same Millennial Political Programming coalition.
But you could write an entire paper over the emotional contortions such a seemingly inoffensive can character cause. You have people who like Remake Jessie calling her 'annoying' for instance, and Remake Jessie has every negative trait it was trendy to give Aerith on tumblr in the 2010s.
I kind of assumed a lot of people didn't like Aerith because she has a smaller chest and they preferred Tifa.

The man is a completely amoral mad scientist. His character archetype has been the bread and butter of RPGs long before and after FF7.
Also in this case it's probably less retarded and more creepy given this woman is a doppleganger for the one woman with enough self loathing to sleep with him.

Just once they should have had someone discover an Ancient artifact they weren’t meant to have. That’d provide a little variety.
They have done that. Technically that's the Masamune. And the Black Materia, And Jenova itself in a way.

who is worse to work for, Shinra, OCP or Weyland Yutani?
Weyland is the worst by far even including Umbrella.

All from the OG. Not the Compilation. We're talking about the Compilation and how Hojo Did It became a meme.

Yeah but that doesn't get you an essay and looks sort of bad. Also a lot of these takes come from Women of Color you'll find. It is a minority opinion though because most people who like FF7 don't participate in the online stuff.

Well yeah. My impression is a lot of people essentially swap Aerith and Tifa's personalities in their memories because of looks/gameplay function.

Tifa becomes the spunky one when in fact she's fairly mentally weak, solely because she punches and has big tits.

Aerith on the other hand is the most mentally/emotionally put-together out of the entire cast but gets cast as a helpless waif by fans because she's the White Mage archetype in gameplay.

Definitely true the further back you go or the older you get. Prior to Remake you'd find people who hadn't gotten the latest "patch notes" and would say that. Strangely Remake didn't change their minds about the girls when it was clear they were wrong.
So now you get more desperate and contrived arguments to preserve that old conclusion.
