I think my big question for 9 is the scope of it. Is it a full blown remake like 7 or is it some weird 2.0 remaster with upscaled graphics? something like Live A Live I guess.

You can bitch about the second choice being a cheap cash grab..but I would rather that then them ruining everything that made 9 the best final fantasy by turning it into the generic Action RPG slop that Final Fantasy became after X-2

I borrowed the newest Theatrhythm from a friend, I hope the Chrono series music isn't locked behind DLC again...

Crossover RPG with all the FF waifus using dresspheres to class change into a variety of cute outfits. I'll accept my $1000 now, Square. You'll make it back immediately.
Monkey's paw: it's gacha slop.

I still like how the team in X destroy Yunalesca.
Fucking bitch.
Best part of the game.

Ever Crisis is not my gacha of choice, but I keep up with the basic plot additions, and the choice to make Seph Psaro in the DQ event confirms for me that the Lucrecia face he's met is going to get killed in a brutal fashion right in front of him and Hojo is going to have organized it.

How's the lore for young sephs story so far? I assume genesis hasn't shown up yet.

I think Lore is secondary to if anyone with taste would like it. Personally I've always thought their attempts to explain why Sephiroth is evil paled in comparison to my headcanon-- anyone with Jenova inside them will see other lifeforms as prey and rationalize their consumption of that life, because that is Jenova's nature. The OG did this fine with him reading the books in the Shinra Mansion and concluding he's different from humans and thus owes them nothing. The fact he was sort of wrong about exactly why (he thought he was an Ancient/Cetra) only enhanced this perspective. Because he just changes his mind again when he learns the truth after falling into the Lifestream from the Nibel Reactor.

CC, which I admit I don't remember as clearly because I don't think it's that good, seemed to be trying to make me feel sorry for him. Nigga he's the blonde beast! The Ubermensch! The Great and Terrible Man! I should be in awe of his terror! He should have semi-alien motives with the human-like rationales being illusory!

This also squares up against his thematic counterpart to Aerith since she also has a Greater-Than-Human half-lineage and represents a belief system that, for most of human history, would be completely alien to us-- The obviously Christian metaphysics of forgiveness and sacrifice. Which are the opposite of what Sephiroth represents.
Admittedly, however, trying to make us feel bad for him doesn't ruin this too much because you could feel more bad for her but she doesn't pursue revenge or alienation from other people.

Not yet. He has met Angeal and a woman who has the same face as his birth mother for as yet unexplained reasons almost certainly Hojo related.
His story is largely one of isolation and always feeling like an outsider. He doesn't yet seem to think of himself as superior to everything but you can see the seeds of why he eventually goes down that road and snaps.
It's not trying to redeem him but explain his descent. In CC you get the idea that A and G were the only things keeping him grounded and losing Angeal especially makes him ready to give up on humanity. First Soldier wants to show how he comes to that worldview.

They should remake FFX-2. In fact, there should be a line of games just based around cute dresspheres.
Bringing the job system back was huge marketing hype back in the day (I was there, day one, wallet open like an idiot.)

Half of them are hamster wheels to pad your playtime. They don’t even bother giving the Trainer a chance to shine. Even the game itself is like, “Yeah we all know this dressphere blows."
they should remake ff10 just to spite this guy

I wouldn’t mind bringing back the sphere grid.

But I’d keep everyone at the same base stats with maybe a couple spheres already filled in.

That way you’re not giving anyone an unfair head start, and you might actually be incentivized to combine jobs instead of just playing a 40-hour game of catch up with Wakka.

I love how 7s setting is so broken after all the compilation and remake shit that "Hojo is doing retarded things again" is a reasonable excuse
They also rely heavily on Shinra Secret Projects for new plot elements so it’s really baked in.

Just once they should have had someone discover an Ancient artifact they weren’t meant to have. That’d provide a little variety.

Yeah, they take way too much AP to master, some are pretty crap and some are outright broken and you're not really going to be able to tell which on your first playthrough.

But you know what? Cool outfits.
