What was tedious about Automata's combat? The fact that it was so piss easy?Is the combat nier automata level or deeper? I loved Automata bit the combat itself was becoming tedious.
No. His heal is purely a "oh god, this hunt 12 levels higher than me is beating my ass, I desperately need any crumb of HP to finish him".Does Torgal's Cure ever get stronger, by the way? I don't rely on him for healing but I noticed he doesn't really help out much in that area.
And lots of damage sponges. Played it on hard and some stuff just took ages to go down and things didn't change much from when you started the game outside of having much better chips. What was tedious about Automata's combat? The fact that it was so piss easy?
The only real damage sponge I recall ever hitting was that robot "sensei" sidequest who gets beefier the more you progress in the quest, and even then, with the right chip setup, you can still make him paper. And lots of damage sponges. My brother in Christ, I'm 10 hours in and so far it's barely a fucking game, let alone an RPG. Between the claustrophobic design that takes the controls away from you every five steps and writing that comes across as Babby's First Witcher, I've spent the entire time astonished that Yoshi P was involved with this. MGS4 had more player agency and fewer (better) cutscenes. The Eikon battles are beautiful but more braindead than Asura's Wrath. Yes, the regular battle system is fun, for the brief stretches you're allowed to interact with the game between episodes of Great Value Game of Thrones. No, it's not a traditional RPG
Fair enough. I'm not here to argue the point. I'm just enjoying the music, combat, visuals, Cid, and the fact that we're back to darker fantasy rather than whatever it was FF15 as well as with FF7 being back in the limelight. My brother in Christ, I'm 10 hours in and so far it's barely a fucking game, let alone an RPG. i don't get the hype for this one at all. I'm already ready to tap out, and that's from someone that believed XIV's dev team could do no wrong.
Honestly, I get you. I am enjoying the game myself but I don't know if I'd say it deserves the high 90's and 5/5 scoring it's been getting across the board. The hype was extremely exaggerated. And frankly, I think a lot of it came purely from the graphics and cinematic battle system/boss fights. Like yeah, it's a feast for the eyes, but not anything groundbreaking. My brother in Christ, I'm 10 hours in and so far it's barely a fucking game, let alone an RPG. Wouldnt be the first time they pulled thisAnyone else think the character models between Jill and Larsa from FF12 are pretty similar?

That was 100% intentional though. The guy that made Lightning mentioned he based her off of a female version of Cloud purely for recognition.
Something something final fantasy and effeminate men. Hugo in FF16 is probably the biggest change. He looks like that witcher who kills Foltest in the Witcher 2 opening sequence. Sazh from FF13 doesn't count for me. His character is a caricature in a bad way.
They don't hide it. It's not a coincidence we have Edgy angsty Cloud (Squall), Island Cloud (Tidus), and girl Cloud (Lightning). That was 100% intentional though. The guy that made Lightning mentioned he based her off of a female version of Cloud purely for recognition.
CRAZY exaggerated hype. "The best Final Fantasy in 23 Years!" Those perfect scores are going to age like milk once the shock and awe of the visuals wear off.Honestly, I get you. In other words: it's a Final Fantasy game.CRAZY exaggerated hype. "The best Final Fantasy in 23 Years!" Those perfect scores are going to age like milk once the shock and awe of the visuals wear off.
It is for sure beautiful, though.
