I'm nearing the end of the game now; some brilliant set pieces, combat is very fun and the 'villains' are very cool (probably better than the main cast). Some of the side characters are very likable, too. My biggest complaint would be the obvious MMO style sidequests. Some of which literally have you running back and forth through towns talking to generic NPCs about their stolen chickens or whatever the fuck.
It's a really good game though, loving the medieval, edgy atmosphere.

Combat is finally starting to really open up for me. It's basic bitch beginners DMC at first but when your around lvl 20-22 and finish meeting the fallen for the first time. Everything clicks.

Gotta love how we have a boss that in any other game would be the final one that is like... the second fight out of 20 im guessing.

Have I mentioned how AMAZINGLY beautiful this game is? Every thing in the game looks like a square CGI cutscene. Especially if you take a moment to really play with that photo mode.

Apparently it's not bad. Square celebrated FFXV selling 5 million copies in it's first month. So surely 3 million digital copies in it's first week is something that they'd be happy about.
Especially with a relatively smaller ps5 install base.

You know when I heard they wanted to emulate yoko taro I didn't expect them to just outright steal from him. Fuckssake.

Is there a 200 hour fishing game on this one?

So... None of you guys are going to talk about the gay sex scene involving Dion that was obviously added by Sony and Square Enix to increase their ESG score? Would have thought that would turn many people off.

The journous were turned off by the straight sex achievement, sex is really the ultimate gamer repellent.

So basically, much like Capcom, Square Enix is trying to do a "best of both worlds" thing in that they are trying to please everyone. Sadly for the Japs is that there is no pleasing the woke crowd and Blackcock. You are either with them 100% or against them. The good news is that people who actually play games aren't listening to them, at least judging from the sale numbers. If only the devs would stop listening to these people and the likes of Blackcock.

But I can relate to the opinion that the game is shit for a FF game and Squeenix is abandoning its old audience.
We’re all basically used to this by now. Square-Enix has devolved the game to being action RPGs as a consequence of how well Kingdom Hearts has dome and millions of niggardly retards the world over are happier for it.

The good old days are gone, it’s better to just accept that they want to languish in mediocrity and find better games elsewhere. There’s a good handful of TBRPGs with well written stories and great pacing done by indie devs that aren’t whacked out troons.

This one looks cool.

I reached my breaking point at the "L3+R3 Accept the TRUUUUUTH" scene. Haven't watched anything that comes after that.

The ESG dilemma is an issue, but I would hate to be that guy that freaks out everytime something gay or a gay person(s) comes up in a video game. That would just show my fragility.

I don't care if a gay person is in the game. My issue is the gay sex scene. I don't want to see two men ass fucking. I also don't want to see straight people fucking. Maybe I'm just a prude but I am getting kind of tired of seeing sex scenes in a video game. I don't care if this makes the game more "mature" or "artsy". The only reason this got popular in video games was because of the Witcher games and every game company now is trying ape off what people liked about The Witcher such as the open world and sex scenes. You can have there be mature themes and deal with themes such as sex without showing us two people fucking.
Then again, I also believe that if your favorite aspect to a video game is the sex scenes and romance than there is something wrong with you.

I agree, however, with FF16 taking a lot of cues from Game of Thrones (book and TV show) - it's not surprising.

I have a feeling that the general consensus for this game will be the same as Final Fantasy 15. During the height of its release we have Sony fanboys saying; "This is the greatest Final Fantasy ever!" "This is game of the decade!" "Haters are coping and seething".
Then a year after the release everyone then goes; "Yeah, the game wasn't very good."
Seems to be par for the course for Final Fantasy games now. However, Square Enix needed a hit as, after the disaster of Avengers and Forspoken, the studio was in the hole. Will this game get Square Enix out of the hole? Time will tell.

I liked XV even if it wasn't great and Clive basically unlocking his devil Ifrit trigger was kino as fuck.
I appreciate the late game weird KH stuff. Helps make the game less predictable.
