Another complaint was that 90 percent of the game was a joke when it came to difficulty and needed enemy level scaling due to the game's non-linear nature.
I have no idea if this is only from the international version or not, but a lot of enemies specifically have moves that scale with their target's level (usually their signature move). It's really funny because they can normal attack or use magic a bunch for single digit damage, and then they suddenly use their one signature move that breaks the first damage cap.

On the story side, the Yuna part of the story is actually a lot better than I remembered. My memory told me that they butchered her character, but the reality of the replay told me she's actually pretty much exactly the same personalitywise. She's not even that slutty all things considered.

What ended up being so much worse than I remember is Paine, holy fuck, This absolute femcel can't stop lusting over the ugly Nomura monstrosity of a design who literally shot her in the back.

Yeah tbh idk why people said the girls in that game were slutty—everyone on Spira dresses like that.

Also, these are women written by autistic japanese men. A genre notorious for having slutastic designs on a totally chaste, kissless girl

Nooj and Luso are both pretty much up there. Don't know which design is worse.

It’s funny how popular she was at the time too. FF-fans love superficially serious and strong characters I guess. Lady Kain, Vincent Valentine, etc

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do to put food on the table...

Trailer drop. Plusses are they are definitely adding to the combat very nicely.

Bad news: Genesis is in and they’re seemingly messing with what isn’t broken (Cloud’s Nibelheim business)

I see this as a win. I like Genesis and I really like the paranoia they are implying with Tifa.

I like the idea there's something horribly wrong with her and she might be someone or something else wearing her face . If im remembering it correctly aerith looked at her strangely the first time she saw her.

I like those possibilities. If they deliver. But what I’m worried about is that actually it’s all bs and they’re just doing a great backstory ineptly with non-twists and non-foreshadowing.

They didn't show the Golden Saucer, nor Corel, nor Costa del Sol, nor even Cait Sith. Man how many years worth of games is it gonna take them to make it through the first disc, I wanna do all the fun goofy shit like go snowboarding and drive the submarine and find out just how much more melodramatic they're gonna make Aeris' death.

I hope part of the audition process for Cloud is gauging if the VA can be in distress without sounding cringe.

Probably the biggest reason I’d rather they didn’t kill her is knowing they’ll only do it worse

Fake Tifa wouldn't make any sense. Wasn't Genesis all about Angeal?

Also lol at Sephiroth and Tifa. Na, she was only mostly dead.

I love steve Burton but I do remember how terrible his yell was in crisis core. New VA Cody actually pulled it off so Im not worried.

It kinda does actually. The book lore has shown that Jenova cells can transfer and copy memory's and we've already seen Jenova copy's mimic sephiroth. So in theory you could have a being that looks and thinks the same as the original. Basically a less assimilating version of John Carpenters the thing.

Don't know why it would stay dormant for so long unless it's waiting for a trigger and the whispers were trying to prevent it.

Im not sure I understand. He was his friend yes, but Genesis cared mostly about saving his own ass as he got more and more insane. We haven't really seen much of his character before he went nuts.

A lot of what we've seen is extremely unreliable because of clouds memory. And even if we count his memory there's a fairly large interval of time where she's out of view lying on the floor were something could just reach out and grab her.

They made a book where she was recounting how she survived and it was pretty insane shit. I know its FF but getting your breastbone severed, knocked into a coma and being rendered invalid isnt something most come back from. Not to mention being abnormally strong despite being an unenhanced woman.

I was talking about the Genesis project and its cloning/merging what-have-you, but even so IIRC the way it worked you'd have someone wind up as a copy of Tifa, not an impersonator mimicking her body. It copied over not just abilities but personality traits, which is why that revenge-obsessed scientist mellowed out and wanted to save the world just like Angeal did right before his body degenerated into nothing. Eventually whoever they were they'd just wind up becoming Tifa in the end. It doesn't make sense as a plot point. I mean, why would you replace Tifa with some copy that would wind up becoming her? I could see Hojo trying to do that but only because he's nuts, but that hardly makes for compelling storytelling, especially since the whole emphasis story-wise is about Cloud's fucked-up memories and ideas, which even the CC remake focused on. And yes, he was at Nibelheim since CC is from Zack's perspective, not his. But he never showed his face to anyone there, so it would be easy for Tifa to think he wasn't there, and she definitely wouldn't want to believe he was there with the Shinra team that burned everything down. Naturally its the sort of epic "OH HO HO!" moment Hojo would enjoy dropping on them both because he's a dick like that.

As to her wounds, IIRC someone mentioned they had the same time janny mist over them Barret's stab wound did in FFVII. For the tattoo guys its pretty obvious they're being used by Sephiroth as Trazyn-style sacrificial lambs, which makes sense on account of him being the most successful of all the Jenova experiments.

Admirable but they’ve changed the lore of this before. That’s why it would be goofy but doable. The OG FF7 famously made and changed stuff up as it developed. Jenova started as an occult tome and became an alien (remained thoroughly Jewish though).

Anyone play that new ffxvi demo?
I don't have a ps5 and I'm not buying it for one game
I have played it.
Holy shit it made me hyped.
It is the first two hours of the game so I will not spoil what happens but I can say this. There is a lot of violence and curse words.
Got the first taste of combat and if you are used to the combat system in FFXV and FFVIIR, I think you will get used to it.
It also look very Beautiful and I like the medieval artstyle.

I'm gonna hate it

I really don't like the recent trend of all writing, and even translations, being written like an edgy 14 year old who's all excited because he gets to slip in as many cuss words as he can because fuck you dad, but oh no don't even go close to any of the big bad nasty slurs like "faggot"! Writing it into things that should have some decorum, like Final Fantasy, is just dumb as hell. I think Final Fantasy VI might be closer in tone to Home Improvement than whatever FFXVI's gonna be.
