The thing is you can drive a Mercedes Benz and a fancy watch gives you very precise time, so they are at least functional.
Hell, even a $60 video game gives you hours of entertainment that tests your coordination or tells a compelling story, or lets you have social fun by competing with other players.

I've seen videos of people playing with these things and I just don't get the appeal. You can't even do tricks with them, or at least good tricks.

Like, okay, I can understand people paying $20 for one, but over $100? Or even anything over $40? Are you fucking kidding me? And then they have the gall to be all huffy when people question their spending habits.

This is worthy of being a copypasta. This is one of the few things on KF that has actually made me laugh aloud.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about my spinner, you little millenial? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in special ed, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret studies in cost and quality, and I have over 300 confirmed spins. I am trained in CEO spinners and I have the top executive spinner in the entire Reddit 'Tism forces. You are nothing to me but just another bearing. I will spin you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, millenial. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of Autistic shuriken collectors across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, millenial. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your cheap, plastic life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can spin you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my sixty dollar fidget. Not only am I extensively trained in fidget-spinner-armed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the executive spinner collection and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little millenial. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fidget spinners all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

Seriously? 'You get that'? Are you just throwing that term out there? No, you obviously do not get
that at all. You think you do, but you don't. That is the whole problem with you millennials. One day
hopefully you will though, for your sake and the sake of your future wife and kids. Isn't your
homework due? You should go do it. Learn, make some decent money in your life, and buy what
the fuck you want without having to explain to some little boy about the cost or benefit of quality.
Why not go bug the wine groups about why they spend $50+ on a bottle when the $6 bottle works
just as well. I think your parents did a bad job of showing you how to appreciate the finer things in
life. I make over $500k/year and have done so for over 10 years. I own my house and some land,
my kids are through university. I travel 2 months a year and own a few pretty sweet rides.
Seriously you are embarrassing yourself with how much you are valuing cheap plastic spinners, kid.
To me, the difference between $20 and $60 is nothing. But show me a nice Titanium spinner for
under $20. You do understand how the different densities of metals affect the spin, right? And how
Titanium is denser than other cheaper metals, including plastic, leading to a much smoother and
longer spin, outside of the bearings hardware? I mean have you compared the feel of a good Ti
spinner vs. a sub $20 one? I assume you are just a drunk kid in school, and are bored and pissed
that people have more money that you probably ever will to do whatever they want with - and for
that reason, you will never appreciate good quality, because you were never taught what it was.
Enjoy your cheap plastic life.

I want to see communist tumblr/ratking/whatever sperg about spinners tbh, both pro and anti

Even the scammers are onto this craze. My friends told me she spent an HOUR filling out stupid surverys online, just because a link said that she could get a free spinner if she did it. I about died.

I keep seeing these things everywhere, although mostly kids, no adults as of yet. They're being banned in schools over here because, ironically, they're distracting the children in lessons (and throwing them at other children, pretending to be ninjas).

I get kids latching on because fads randomly happen every so often. Loom bands were the last 'in' thing I know of. Older generations had Pogs and sticker albums. I remember Coca Cola coming to schools selling 'spinners' (yo-yos) and kids formed in to Team Sprite, Cola or Fanta depending on which one you bought.

Executive fidget toys though? Lol!

I was going to ask why not just play games on your phone instead of buying one of these things, then I read it was literally marketed for autistics, and I got my answer.

I originally saw part of the thread name on the front page so I thought this would be a thread about a Fidgeting Community.

This is probably more autistic than what I was expecting.

Of course the only person I know that has one has BPD. Of fucking course. But yeah, this shit is autistic, but the shops are gonna make bank from it.

i bet you could make some stupid bank by painting on pony/anime shit on those spinners and selling them on etsy for three times the cost. the autism market is an untapped gold mine

Geez, whenever I'm feeling uncontrollably autistic, I just spin a quarter on a tabletop, assuming it doesn't go over the side and into the crawlspace along the wall, I even get a 100% return on investment....

I expected this to be some cheap attempt to jump on the Beyblade bandwagon about ten years too late.

How the fuck did I give them more credit than they deserve?
