When did PC players become so fucking poor and retarded?

I see shit like this and I'm fucking baffled. NVMe SSD's became the mainstream standard in like 2018.

I'm starting to think Todd is right and a lot of you need to upgrade your fucking shit. And not just the god damn GPU.
I already have two NVMe drives. It's just that the space on them is too precious to me for Todd's jeetslop.

Oblivion has some good tricks like the Ayleid ruin dungeon that will be the first for most players, Vilverin, where you find a bandit camp where the leader writes about members of their group vanishing in the dungeon, then behind a secret door you find the corpse of one of the bandits along with several zombies appearing from hidden doors, half the dungeon being a necromancer lair.
I kinda like how Vilverin is clearly the first setpiece dungeon the player is meant to encounter but isn't connected to the main quest, just the Ayleid statue quest. Contrast that with Morrowind and Skyrim where it's likely the player will hit Addamasartus/Embershard Mine first before progressing the quest and make their way to Arkngthand/Bleak Falls Barrow.

>buy new shit and upgrade ASAP goy it's new you must have it
all the components of my PC remain in near perfect health and I will not be replacing them unless they completely break
for me moving from HDD to SSD was motivated purely by all my HDDs simultaneously dying, and beforehand the only game I've had loading time issues with was Duke Nukem Forever, which was notorious for being an unoptimized piece of garbage
modern game devs are fucking lazy entitled hacks which is why you have UE5slop shovelware everywhere with astronomical requirements running like garbage on all hardware configurations while simultaneously looking worse than Battlefield 3/4

At this point I just assume it's all brown people pissed that they have to upgrade their shitbox they just play free to play trash like LoL on.

Daggerfall was carried by its lore and story.
Daggerfall was "carried" by an insanely large world in the mid 90s. There was a certain novelty to just fucking around endlessly. None of my friends made it anywhere in the main quest.

At least you got friends who played at all. Most of the friends I've ever had came much later in life and most of these goys-if they have any nerd hobby at all-will violently explode if they look at anything that's older than 5 years.

Arena is such a piece of shit compared to the other games but a QoL to the interface and controls would be greatly welcomed.
Arena crawled so that Daggerfall could walk.

Even 5 years ago, I might have said 'only' 50%. Now I would say more like 90% minimum. Wouldn't even be surprised if the trailer blasts rap music when it comes out. I suspect that the Arab/Middle Eastern-esque aesthetics/aspects to the Redguards either wouldn't pass a modern ideological commissar's checklist of 'problematic' things to sand down on account of being 'orientalist tropes' (ex. Redguard pirates in the Iliac Bay = Barbary corsairs = instantly problematic!), or would be sanitized heavily to have a prayer of being left in.

Anyway, I've gotten into an elf-killing mood again recently, can anyone recommend Alessian Order-themed mods for either Morrowind or Oblivion? Preferably ones where you can side with the righteous anti-elf crusaders who never should've lost their battles against the Direnniggers & their allied elf-lovers or Colovians who couldn't understand the bigger picture if the Arch-Prelate had smashed them over the head with it rather than said opponents, of course.
Mmh, mmh, stacking septims all night
Send a N'wah to Sovngarde, outta sight
Next day flight, Morrowind in my sight
House of Delights with my Argonian, aight

This actually brings up an interesting conundrum.

In the past oh, 20 years or so, ever since they turned the gaming industry into one of many adult daycares for women who saw a nice "easy" office job and said "I deserve that because I have a cunt and those office chairs look comfy", the answer to "should we optimize our game" has just been "nah there'll be a new, better PC out by the time we could bother."

But now that cycle is dead, very very very dead, and isn't coming back for the foreseeable future barring a complete collapse of the tech sector -- which absolutely is going to happen -- and the recovery of it, or some sort of megaton disruption we speak of in the same way we speak of the invention of the Internet. So PC hardware is basically frozen in amber for the next 10-20 years. Consoles, too.

Worse, even replacing existing PC hardware is going to be a huge deal. Like, if my GPU died, I wouldn't be able to replace it. If my ram goes tits up, they won't even honor the warranty, they'll refund me the purchase price and tell me good luck, buy some replacement ram at a 800% markup.

And that 800% markup is still low compared to what they're saying is going to happen over the next 2 years. Heck they're actually saying the warehouse stock of say, DDR5, GPUs, etc is going to run out shortly, which will cause another huge spike -- it might get the point that we can't buy DDR5 at any price.

And it's of course not just ram, it's GPUs... and SSDs.

So the era of "yeah our game is 250 gigs and runs like liquid monkey shit on what was top of the line hardware last year, just spend $1000 on a new SSD and GPU, you pathetic poor loser" is... over. The industry doesn't realize it, but it's over.

How's that going to affect things? Will we see them bring back the autistic straight white male programmer to actually clean up the jeet and AI slopcode, forcing them to actually optimize shit, shrink filesizes, code sanely instead of just picking shit off the Unreal / Unity asset store? Or will we see the inertia cause this shit to run headfirst into the ground for a few years first?

Zealots will sooner commit suicide than admit they are wrong. They're going to choose to kamikaze the plane into the single mountain among the million square miles of runway over taking the queues from successful games that don't have bespoke blades of grass, writing that doesn't intentionally insult the audience, or be a glorified daycare for niggers and queers.

So right as we were discussing Kirkbride and people's opinions on him, another youtuber uploads a video with the exact same takes as Dareloth
It's still silly to attack Kirkbride for writing that Azura is the Rim of all Holes, or a non canon story where a kid ejaculates on his enemies.

What I can agree with is that Kirkbride seems to have a bit of an ego. Being perfectly fine with retconing others while bearing long grudges about his own work being retconned, for better or worse.

Creators also tend to fall into two categories as they age
A: they've used up all their best ideas and have gotten lazy with time
B: they're easily affected by the Zeitgeist and readily adopt modern opinions and sensibilities for better or worse

Kirkbride's decade long sabbatical followed by Immortal of Aveum leads me to believe Kirkbride falla into one or both of these categories.
Just look at this shit

I think Oblivion dungeons are overhated compared to the other titles in the series. It's not like morrowind or Skyrim had much more variation either.
As far as I recall, Oblivion dungeons are just a bunch of tunnels with chests and beds/coffins here and there, depending on the occupant.
Honestly, Skyrim did dungeons better. When you explore them you can see that the place is inhabited - there are kitchens, living quarters, etc.

But Morrowind is still better though. They are much smaller and tight.

Again, I think the main problem is that too many quests sent people into the very same looking dungeons.
Skyrim might be better at making them feel natural, but people who try to 100% complete the game still come to the realisation that have you seen one draugr tomb you've seen them all.

And Oblivion dungeons can have variety, it's just that caves stop being fun after you've been to 30

Skyrim’s dungeons didn’t feel remotely natural from the beginning when Todd revealed all of the overt design decisions that went into holding the player’s hand. Almost every path forward is following running water, there’s always a shortcut out at the very end and if somehow you’re still too retarded to find your way then they have the Fable 2 breadcrumb trail as a spell that can be found in Embershard Mine or bought from the first general trader.
