Andy always struck me as self-aware enough that he doesn't want to be a cow, but is unable to help himself. He's self conscious about being called stupid. Any time something he's doing gets resoundingly called stupid, he backs away.

I was rewatching the Baked Alaska destruction streams the other day, and Andy lays his philosophy bare; he tells BA that whenever you have a meltdown on the internet and start doing stupid things, it's best to just walk away for a while, and that's pretty much what we saw with Andy last year for a few months. He might be low iq but he has self awareness, something most people in IBS lack.

That's the thing about Andy, he's legitimately crazy. For better or for worse, he will take situations to the peak of insanity and everyone can get entertainment out of it. His Israel ban, Tonka fight, trolling Sargon, etc. More often than not he does something that makes me go "haha, oh wow, I can't believe he did that, what a madman" rather than just "Huh? I can't believe he did that, what a tool."
Lighting his nipples on fire on stream comes to mind too. Somebody upstairs or downstairs likes him, because he keeps managing to some how not land himself in jail for any length of time.
