This is the one point on which I do not judge Coleslaw in any way. If his childhood was anything like he claims it was, he has no obligation to get in contact with his family for any reason, up to and including Barb's death.

There is no way to win with a woman like Barb, unless you are a goddamn martyr. Coleslaw's presence wouldn't help Barb or Chris. If she's as bad as I think she is, Coleslaw being there would only end up making things worse. Being in dire straits isn't going to make Barb humble or grateful; it's going to make her scared and more desperate to assert control, and that is going to turn her into a fucking monster of entitlement that will turn Chris's current whining into a five-year-old asking for an extra cookie. There's a reason no one in the Chandlers' IRL circle is stepping up to the plate right now: because they all know better.

I take it that also includes Rocky, right?

Rocky I don't know. Rocky might come forward as a representative of the church community as a whole, but it's been discussed before that Rocky and Barb don't get along and that Barb never really liked Rocky.

He comes across as a bit of a pretentious douche, but hey, for all we know that's just his professional persona.

Well those are the only three things WE know about him. That doesn't mean that's all there is to him.

A reminder that this is the guy that regularly puts an ad on ebay trying to get people to come to a bar, bask in his glory, and pay his beer tab. He's a HUGE pretentious douche.

Though he should get sympathy and kudos for the fact that he was abused and managed to escape, go to college, and find a wife and be semi-successful (I imagine he makes a lower-middle class income).

However, He still has horribly glaring flaws and if you read all the info we have on him, read his reviews, comments, and the fact he can't take criticism, put 2 and 2 together and you can tell he's the son of Barb. He has the ego/delusions of grandeur, persistence, narcissism and hate that is present in OPL and Barb but on a much milder level.

(Also balding must be another strong trait of Barb's family since Cole is bald and Chris is soon catching up.)

It's not like Barb beat him up every other day. A lot of people from that era had some "abuse." What he went through is not a big deal. Delusions of grandeur = delusions of persecution from Barb.

Abuse isn't the same for everyone.

Someone could go through very harsh physical and mental abuse and still be a functional person who even forgives and maybe reconciled with their abusers.

Some go through less and deal with it worse. It all depends on the person, what they went through, and how it affects them personally.

You do not judge how somebody deals with their own abuse and you definitely do not do that by comparing abuse and trying to shame them just because somebody else might have gone through "worse"
