Let's not pretend that the show's "biting" commentary when it comes to Orange man isn't lazy as fuck 90% of the time.View attachment 8985020
Hmm, I can see the comparison point between Trump's McDonalds PR opportunity and this, but it reads more like part of their long running gag that supes are continually shilling various Vought products. Kinda like how in the last episode Firecracker was doing the Nicole Kidman AMC Theatres preroll.

I honestly think they let him live just because it was the most jewish character ever & the extremely jewish writers room had weird feelings about aryan super soldier homelander graphically murdering him.
Yeah I looked up the character to remember who he was and I thought "oh it's the rich hollywood porno kike of course"

I dunno man, I don't remember Starlight lying and claiming that she worked at Vought Burger in an attempt to seem folksy. :smug:

But my point is that it's the most basic bitch kind of satirization you can make. Person (whom you don't like) does thing in the newscycle so you make the bad guy of the show do it too, even though the context is completely different and the comparison doesn't actually mean anything beyond a surface level similarity. It's the writing equivalent of depicting someone as a soyjak.

Unlike Kimiko gushing over Golden Geisha for providing representation, and how big a deal it was for Kimiko to see someone who looked like her on TV. Kimiko, who grew up in Japan, a country that is entirely filled with people who look like her, and whose TV stars all look like her.
I get the feeling the writers of this show have never met or spoken to a non-rich minority that didn't grow up in California or New York.

I get that, but these episodes were written two years ago and filmed a year ago, they're just coming out now.

It's not so much that Homelander is doing things that Trump does, it's that Trump does things that Homelander does. I would have called someone hysterical back then if they'd proposed Trump would be comparing himself to Jesus and having Pastors pray over a golden effigy. In that regard I have to concede the issue isn't the quality of the satire, but that Trump is beyond parody.

It's disappointing because the early seasons were very much making fun of this sort of thing - #GirlsGetItDone, Maeve is a #ProudLesbian etc - but now they've uncritically become what they mocked.

Who could've guessed that a show made by Amazon where the big bad is an evil corporation would get it's ideological wires crossed?

He wasn't a dipshit. He chose to grow old with the love of his life. It had the makings of a decent plot point - the reveal he stole the V1 not for personal gain, but because he couldn't bare to be parted from his love
Sorry, have to stop you right there. If the series sold it, yes, it would be touching. But it doesn't. Golden Geisha is the fois gras goose for why not V1, and her screen time was just... wasted.

She's literally a rabbit's foot and used about the same.

Bombsight and Soldier Boy are destined to build their gay love in vought rising. But yeah, Bombsight chose to puss out like a bitch rather than run slow mode on aging.

Even Golden Geisha is a stupid fuck. It's not immortality. "Clara" "Stormfront" got ripped the fuck apart, if you don't want to live anymore you can walk into a woodchipper.

It's not literally heat death of the universe immortality. The shit is super cancer on its own, you get maybe 1-200 years until you have to check out.

Which sadly, is not too divorced from reality. You get to 70, you're going to see some cancer.

Gay Sex Enjoyer, consider fucking off. This season has sucked ass but you don't care about the show to begin with.

It's really amazing to me how they thought having The Boys accomplish almost nothing for themselves for five whole seasons was a good idea. Just about all their wins have come from supes betraying supes or dumb luck. The only thing about this show I find more infuriating is that we only got 2 seasons of The Tick but we get an extended universe of this bullshit.
All because Garth Ennis hates superheroes. A lot.

- Episode begins with Homelander calling a press conference with President Calhoun. He kills him in front of a crowd and takes control over the government. Most superheroes are horrified. Ashley and her Voldemort face begin making new plans to kill Homelander. Ashley vows to die to take down Homelander.

- Soldier Boy tells Homelander they should celebrate by going to Colombia and renting a yacht and having an orgy. Homelander orders Soldier Boy to remain at the White House instead as a security guard. When Soldier Boy refuses he is forcibly flown back to Vought Tower by V-1 powered Homelander and thrown back into the containment tank and put back into a coma.

- Butcher shows the Boys and Sister Sage the tapes of the Russians blasting Soldier Boy with radiation. They begin an experiment to blast Kimiko with radiation to give her the beam that removes Compound V from superheroes. French and Kimiko have long conversations and screen time. Homelander finds them all in hiding and Frenchie sacrifices himself to let everyone else escape. Kimiko goes mute from the trauma.

- Starlight, Hughie, MM, and Butcher kill Dogknott and Sheline. A new shapeshifter superhero captures Butcher and Hughie. It reads Butcher's mind and begins appearing to him as Kessler. Hughie realizes the deception and he and Butcher kill the shifter.

- Cate and Marie from Gen V are running a secret hideout for Starlighters. Marie joins the Boys for the final fight against Homelander.

- Butcher, MM, Starlight, Hughie, Kimiko, Sage, Ashley, Soldier Boy, Oh Father, The Deep, Ryan, and Homelander are alive going into the finale. With most of them traveling to the White House for the final battle.

What a boring penultimate episode.

Pretty clear in the source text, the celebs at marathon's mansion talk about how much better they're doing now that their rivals have been killed and they mock Forte for having Bill Hader killed and he's like "Shut up you guys".
Is there a history between these two? All I know about Bill Hader is that he wrote barry and was the shadowriter for the pre 2016 southpark seasons, so I know he's a reasonably good writer.
