Another thing that hasn't really come up this season is Homelander being a human lie detector. He should have known that Cameron Coleman was telling the truth about not being the leak. Again, this could be explained by his hearing being damaged. But if that was a deliberate plot choice it probably would have been acknowledged in the show by now. I think the writers just forgot.
Homelander spared Butcher in the comics once because he could sense Butcher's heart rate and figured he wasn't at fault for what happened to Jack from Jupiter. Jack from Jupiter was angry and he thinks the Boys released the dirt on him to ruin him, but Homelander wouldn't let them engage since he believed Butcher was innocent due to his heart rate. He then strikes an agreement with Butcher to let things slide and let bygones be bygones, at least temporarily.
Once again, this is capeshit, and capeshit power levels and abilities are based on what the author wants. It's not like fantasy or sci-fi where there are rules; for example, Star Wars has the Jedi Mace Windu openly explain that their Order's power in the Force has grown weaker in Attack of the Clones, which sets them up to get butchered by clone stormtroopers in Revenge of the Sith since they couldn't sense the betrayal coming due to their weakened powers.
If a smarter writer was writing this, they would've had Soldier Boy partially hit Homelander with his beam weapon in the last season. Homelander still retains his powers, but that partial exposure to the blast would explain why he's aging and why he can't hear as well anymore, making him more paranoid since he can no longer act as a human lie detector. He can no longer do what he did in the past, like with Hughie and that baptism scene where he could sense Hughie's heart rate, and he started asking if something was wrong. Back then, Homelander felt like he was in control because he could tell if someone's lying, but once he loses that power, he starts getting paranoid, since he's never had to rely on having genuine faith and trusting other people before.
Stan Edgar is freed from prison.
The fact that Victoria rescued Stan Edgar from the Feds should've started a war between her and Homelander, since outside of the Boys, she's the most likely culprit. It should be to the point where ''Dakota Bob'' Singer would be able to make a back-room deal with Homelander to kill Victoria. Then Singer sends Victoria to make a political speech in some backwater state that she goes to by private plane, and Homelander ambushes her by lasering the plane in half like he did to that one plane in Season 1. Heck, you could use that to create tension between Singer and the Boys, since that would show him that Homelander is a far more effective ally since he could actually get shit done. Homelander would then use that negotiate and get Singer to back off on restricting Supes. That would make Homelander a more effective threat, since the incoming president would have his back.
How is the new episode even going get to released? This would be like if a movie came out a week after JFK's assassination called "To Kill a President" that was about a Nixon knockoff getting shot and killed. What kind of retarded bullshit will Kripke say if the episode does come out? "Yeah I actually think Trump getting shot is a good thing and I predicted it with this episode. White racism is out of control and I wish the bullet made its way through Trump's cranium. Honestly I think Biden is a fat pussy for condemning the assassination attempt, I think he needs a few sissy hypno-therapy sessions in Tek Knights dungeon to get his mind right *laughs*."
Kripke and his politics have been to the detriment of the show. The comic was already somewhat skewered to the Left with them making fun of Christians, which was already there in Season 1, but the more they veer to the left with all the political stuff against pro-life people, religious people, gun rights people, etc., the more cringy the show gets.
It's actually quite admirable that people are still religious in a world where degeneracy is common and a lot of the culture focuses around superhero worship. It's logical that people would want to remain armed, especially since you have crazy superheroes running around and more than half of them are probably evil. And in a time when population is declining, pro-life arguments actually make sense to keep the population numbers stable. Especially since people die from the crazy antics of these superheroes that Vought keeps having to cover up.
