They literally pulled mengele levels of fucked up experiments on Homelander.
isnt the main writer of the show Jewish, I mean I guess they don’t have the self awareness that someone in a situation like that becomes incredibly sympathetic.
Exactly. Like I said, Homelander getting his revenge on those guys is the equivalent of a Holocaust survivor shoving the Waffen-SS guards who lorded over him into the oven. It's hard for us to feel sympathy for people who did nothing as the doctors put kids in ovens or made fun of them when they ''relieved'' themselves.
wasn’t Stan Edgar, a black man running this company for some 30 years. If there’s any anti black heroes being promoted, wouldn’t that be his fault. And the one black guy he does hire to be on the 7 A-Train is a narcissistic murderer.
black noir is black, but nobody knows his race anyway so it doesn’t count.
Stan Edgar was the one who brought Stormfront, a literal fucking Nazi, into the Seven, to Homelander's immense displeasure. And he did it only so people would get mad so they'd buy more Compound V, which would raise Vought's stock price.
You're right, A-Train was the main openly black guy in the Seven, and he was originally a complete asshole. Not to mention that Black Noir, as Bob Singer said, is practically a war criminal.
I wonder if it would even matter if the supers are from god or not, wouldn’t the mere existence of supers make the chance of god existing more likely,
one of the arguments against religion is none of that stuff is real, how can you say Jesus can’t turn water to wine when we’ve got Homelander flying around at supersonic speeds with laser beams coming out of his eyes.
they likely had to rewrite the laws of physics to account for superheroes.
Basically, yes. The Supes put one big fat dent on the idea that God's miracles are impossible when miracles of science are flying around, super-speeding from place to place, shrinking or growing themselves, using super-strength, telekinesis, and laser eyes, among other things.
I'm not sure I would classify what happened to her as rape. He gave her a choice: Suck off or fuck off. She chose the former, she didn't have to. It's still a damn scummy thing to do for sure, but I'm not sure I would call it rape. Definitely coercion, but she always had a choice to tell him to fuck off and leave.
So basically, Starlight chose her career over her dignity. She could've chosen dignity and fucked off, but she wanted to stay in the Seven. They should've just made it outright rape so that she'd come off as more sympathetic. As in, ''you let us fuck you, or we break your limbs and then fuck you anyways.'' At least that would've been more sympathetic as compared to her sacrificing her dignity for her career.
Although, it would've probably spoiled the story if Starlight realized that Homelander and Black Noir's dongs looked the same.
I would've written it differently, if it were me. I'd have it so that A-Train, Black Noir, and Homelander are sexually ravaging lower-level female Supes and employees, and they expected Starlight to join in, telling her that she can have any man or woman she wanted since she's one of the Seven, and she'd feel conflicted over fitting in and her own sense of right and wrong. It'd be her ''initiation ritual'', joining in on fucking those below her, as Homelander would explain to her that this is their way to establish dominance as a member of the Seven. And Homelander would make it clear to Starlight that if she doesn't choose someone, they'll be screwing her over next.
Fuck, you can even make that how Starlight and Hughie meet. Hughie's there incognito as a way to infiltrate Vought and get close to the Seven, Starlight eventually chooses him as her ''victim'', and she tops him, but he enjoys it, and they trade numbers and promise to do it again in a more comfortable environment.
As an aside, I actually root for Homelander in this show. His enemies are fucking idiots and often no better than he is, and frankly I often root for the bad guy when they're cool enough (for example the Empire in Star Wars, they were awesome.) Not to mention they've literally turned this into a left vs right issue wherein the left are the people against Homelander and the right are the people for him. And since I hate the left with a white hot burning passion I legit hope he wins and does horrible fucking shit to them because the showrunners try to do a "This is what will happen if those evil Nazi Republicans win!" sort of ending.
That's basically what's happening with most of the people who watch this show. Most of them couldn't give less of a shit about any of the good guys who aren't Butcher, meanwhile Homelander is the one everyone looks forward to seeing. That's why he's showing up in video game crossovers in fucking Fortnite and Mortal Kombat. And this last episode had more people rooting for him considering that what the lab coats did to him was genuinely cruel.
they really don't get how they portraying the "heroes" as cucks, normies as retards, other supers as absolute deviants, and making their only good character a villain with a fucked up backstory makes people root for him instead of anyone else
Exactly. People don't like to root for pansies; they want heroes who accomplish things, or an intelligent villain with nuanced motivations. This is why characters like Thrawn sold so well back in the 1990s, or why Azula is everyone's favorite bae back in Avatar the Last Airbender. As much as they try to make the audience root for Hughie and Starlight, Homelander's the guy everyone wants to watch.
Not to mention they want us to hate a guy who is a walking bundle of psychological trauma and PTSD. They tortured a child, deprived him of love and approval while instilling the need for them into him, groomed him into a certain personality instead of allowing him to form his own. Like, no shit the dude is fucked up and hates humanity after experiencing first hand how absolutely detestable humans can be.
The dude is the victim turned villain. That's why him slaughtering the scientists was really hard to feel bad about, they were even bigger monsters than he is. Even Homelander knows that torturing kids is wrong, but apparently they don't. Was very satisfying watching him flambe Frank and emasculate Marty because holy shit they deserved it. And locking the old scientist bitch in with the corpses of her staff after welding the door shut was also well deserved after she outright tried to justify torturing a child and admitted to being one of the people ordering it done.
Again, if Eric Kripke's motivation is to make us hate Homelander, he's failing really hard, especially after that last episode when we found out how evil the people who raised him were. What he did to them, most people would've done the same in Homelander's shoes. Especially if they had that kind of a tortured childhood. So yes, if you got put in an oven while some dipshit was playing basketball with paper balls and a trash can, or if some doctor called you ''squirt'' after seeing you relieve yourself, then you're going to hate their fucking guts just as much as Homelander did.
Hell, most people wouldn't even bother bringing them a cake. They'd just go full Mewtwo and just blow up the lab without a word.
Seriously, outside of a a few incidents (like throwing that suicide chick off the roof) most of Homelander's victims seem to really, really fucking deserve it.
It's that, plus the two airplane incidents, with him lasering one and letting the other crash, but for the most part, yes.
