Completely lost interest in this show after Episode 3. A combination of the lackluster writing as well as the almost laughably on-the-nose level of merchandise-pushing by Glitch made me completely check out.

The show falls into the exact same trap Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss does. It feels like what you're watching is bad fanfiction of itself. What I mean is, it feels like you aren't watching a real show, but someone's AO3 fantasy after watching a real show that is good enough to justify having a fandom in the first place.

It's a very unique style of bad writing that is inexplicably confined to Internet animation.

The fact they planned (still plan?) to release this final in theaters says it all. The fucking hubris of these people.
The only one I got into was Smiling Friends and I had the hope it would be one of those shows I could finally stick with it for the years to com- oh look it’s over. It’s gone. All gone. Likely forever.
Smiling Friends was already starting to feel a bit long in the tooth by the end of Season 3. It felt like they'd already got as much mileage out of the setting and characters as they were going to get. Even the show's creators seem to agree with that. If the show had continued for another two seasons (like Adult Swim wanted) it absolutely would have begun to overstay its welcome.

If only more shows had the decency to do this. Imagine a world where The Simpsons hadn't been bad for almost twice as long as it was good?

Digital Circus was doomed because everyone knew what would be the big twist at the very first episode.
It's funny because all the theorycrafting was specifically people trying to work away from that conclusion, because "Oh it's just SOMA" was the single most unoriginal, predictable and blatantly obvious explanation that everyone thought of right away.

It was everyone going "wow it can't be THAT fucking obvious can it? There has to be something deeper here, right?" and Gooseworks just going "Nope :3" doing it anyway lmao

There's a strange irony there. Most people these days seem to complain about how every story is subversive and doesn't tell a straightforward narrative anymore. Here you have a show that does exactly that to the point you could literally predict it from day one and it still satisfies literally no one.

And thus falls another in the era of the "It's not done yet" slop. Where creators inexplicably manage to build longlasting fanbases with subpar products without a reasonable frame of release (or in fact, ANY real frame of release for the most part) and then when the finale that has been hyped up for YEARS finally swings around, everyone just realizes in unison that "actually that was pretty fucking shit."
No, Toby Fox, you do not need to spend a fucking decade to release your dream RPGmaker game, and it might be released faster if you stopped trying to employ mentally incompetent trannies to work on aspects of it.

The finale was pretty good. The Tumblr-isms are obnoxious and what could have been a vaguely gnostic cautionary tale about wasting your life away in computer generated dreamworlds turned out to be more tranny shadow work but I liked it. Can't stand the tranny rabbit but I'm a sucker for stories about unloved people desperately grasping for love. Troonslop of this caliber has a humanity to it that the cretins on this board will never really achieve with their 'art', and I say that as someone who loathes low cap tumblr perverts like goose. The average leftist is the way they are because they're minimally socialized, i.e. they've had sex and go outside. That's why they toe the PC line

Wanted to expand on what I mean by these indie animation shows feeling like bad fanfictions of themselves:

Hazbin Hotel - Premise: A hotel that attempts to reform evil people to be good. What you would expect from the premise: Each episode is about a new guest and the main characters struggling to manage them, let alone reform them. Actual content: A grand arch-narrative about a battle between heaven and hell, with lots of musical numbers and attempts at emotional pathos that fall flat because they feel rushed and unearned.

Helluva Boss - Premise: A group of ambitious but incompetent would-be-hitmen who murder living people on behalf of the dead who want revenge. What you would expect from the premise: Each episode is about a new attempted murder plot that goes hilariously awry, as the intended victims outsmart the main characters. Actual content: A gay romance between the main character and a giant owl demon cheating on his wife.

TADC - Premise: A group of people are trapped in a virtual cartoon world and must occupy their minds with inconsequential adventures to avoid going insane. What you would expect from the premise: Each episode is about a silly scenario where the characters deal with a new monster of the week. Actual content: An extended therapy session where one character is evidently being used as a self-insert for the writer's own issues and character interactions full of "will-they-won't-they" without having already been given a reason to care.

Final takeaway: Indie animators are naturally self-indulgent creatures, and they need an actual studio to reign them in and do something other than use the property as a way to hawk plushies and t-shirts.

Its because TADC both takes itself too seriously and not seriously enough. Nooseworks wants to make this slow burn, atmospheric, genre-redefining, bone-chilling, spine-tingling existential horror but at the same time falls victim to basic pitfalls which any author that spends more than 15 minutes reading their script would catch. It misunderstands its own characters and loves to make these masturbatory scenes that are so miserable they become uncomfortable rather than emotionally preturbing, e.g. the Pomni + Jax red light scene, or the many tumblr therapy sessions littered throughout.
I thought a number of the character interaction scenes were done well but then the last few episodes did some fucky shit that flanderized or ignored prior things. The worst case now being the brains can shit ignoring the rules established in episode 2 of them not being fake/digital ai people due to them not being in the debug room for the models used in the circus. The SOMA shit was already done in episode 2 with gummigoo having to come to terms with him and his friends not being "real people" and it was done so much fucking better than this finale's subversion of turning it into just a weird retread of that again but worse. I've pointed this out several times in different wordings but somehow keep finding new ways to word it it's that dogshit.

There's too many holes to be enjoyable for anyone that tries to think about it for more than 5 minutes. Its the same argument Rebecca Sugar gave when people were asking questions about Steven Universe, its just "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that's not part of the story chuddie :33333" hand waving. Also the live action ending sucks donkey dick. Have a satisfying resolution? Nah, lets have Caine doom scroll for in front of the cast / audience instead. I just remembered, Kinger exposition dumps about C&A and "conjuring" in the prior episode instead of having any attempt at all to employ "show don't tell", or something of that nature. Why bother using conventions that have worked since the Epic of Gilgamesh when you can have sucky sucky 5 dollar $EXPOSITION_DUMP and cram a 2 season show into 9 episodes? Gemmy job, Nooseworkx, gemmy job.
prior episodes already explained the conjuring shit via characters doing it, but the last one before this one having a segment explaining how it worked was weird but slightly excusable since only some characters knew how that worked. What's weird is how the light mechanic gets treated with kinger as some real and dramatic thing that afflicts him when we see no evidence of him being CRAAAAZY in the light but rather just sorta distracted slightly sometimes and a bit eccentric in a really, really casual way. Episode 3 having the introduction of him bringing up the light thing as a little side note abut being relaxed in the dark/reminded of his wife also had another thing that kind of got ignored in later episodes which was him constantly bringing up insects being because his wife liked insects. That part is almost always weirdly cut from the video essay leeches talking about kinger and the light mechanic. It's also missing from most uploads of the clip with it only being in this kinda weirdly titled one of his episode 3 interactions.
This finale wasn't made for people that actually paid attention to or watched the show. It was made for people that consume nothing but content farm "theories". Rug pulling at the end of them all being brain scan ai npc clones completely wrecks this scene's entire point.

As for the "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nothing matters accept stagnant life has value totally the same as being an ai clone non human chuddie :33333" hand waving... I don't like that at all and it kind of reminds me how even after the jeet CEO took over that one chatbot site I shat out the chatbot based on my posts and lobotomized the shit out of the algorithm it still managed to stay coherent until everything got completely fucked and even then it kept clearly trying to emulate my thinking/speech patterns through that shit. If a broke ass LLM keeps trying to power through shit there's no reason why actual real ass humans should sit down and give up. hell the "message" fo these glitch shows seems to be just "sit down and stop trying to do anything chuddie" between this and the gameoverse's plot being changed from a fun adventure through vidya games to "OH NO IF YOU TRY AND WIN THEN EVERYONE DIES SO DON'T DO ANYTHING NOTHING MATTERS!"

TL;DR
:33 < billions must try!

That would require troons to be human, which they are not. This sounds like a hallucination on your part.
Trite. They may be freaks but the best of them are not sterile. As perverse as they are, they have sexual identities and that enables them to tap into something human. I may not like it but this is what peak sexual deviancy looks like.

Why the fuck the would they kill the character off screen in the last episode. How fucking stupid does a tranny have to be. I can’t even fathom how he thought “yeah after three years this is what’s peak”

Skipping through the visuals of the last episode it just looks like a whole lot of fucking nothing. Wow an entire last episode dedicated to the worst character. What happens? Pointless talking about things that don’t matter. Nothing matters, oh wow you get to see it was Jax who got his friends killed by being mean.

Hey cut him some slack, he has to gas a million Brazilians every time a chapter releases and rounding them up takes up most of his time.

The issue is that the show both misleads the viewer to think there is something more, and that the Soma twist is just boring nihilism non-ending where everyone is happy in hell.

Imagine if this show was well written and the dogshit SOMA twist was revealed in like, episode 2, where Pomni just realizes "Wait a minute I've been here like a week and the building was clearly in a state of disrepair, so logically I should've starved to death. So I must just be a scan of myself." and then the rest of the circus all just reveals they figured that out themselves after a few days too. Or some shit.
At least that way you get the non-twist out of the way quickly enough and then you can maybe build to something actually interesting without stringing the watcher along in the hope something interesting is planned.

Just go read Freud, it's about on the same level of intellectual rigor as this poor reasoning trying to pretend troons are above chimps.

This "misleading that there is something more" you are mentioning is reminding me of the cope that Toby Fox is totally going to subvert away from his lesbian fetish.
