I love that alongside talking about Kevin's screw ups with Glitch, we're also having this conversation about Steven Universe. The show that's about accepting yourself and being considerate of others...
While I think there's a 90% chance he will be emasculated, because toxic masculinity or whatever BS, Jax is, without irony a better kid friendly character.

Steven was basically millennial woke women trying to brainwash kids to be more effeminate, and absolutely no real kid likes him. Jax is an asshole, yes, and I don't particularly care about him. But at least he is a believable male. And yes, I know Gooseworx is also using him as therapy and talk about trauma or whatever, but for kids, he really is just a rabbit doing silly things and playing rough.

There is some irony in that the so called kid character is only liked by adults (tumblrinas but still), and the muh deep coping and trauma character is more loved by kids.

I think the fans might not understand the message of the show. Isn't Steven universe something about accepting yourself and others and undertale about restraint and compassion?

Why are their fans murderous what the fuck?
Here's the thing.
While these pieces of media like to explore disturbing aspects such as depression and self-worth, they always make the argument that all these problems can be solved if we all hug it out.

But the people who write this type of story tend to suffer from extreme low self-esteem.
Still, they also have a hyper-idealistic view of what they want reality to be, the idea that everybody can and will all get along, a world where everbody can fat and lazy as possible, the dream where everybody can be gay, including the kids, a world where everybody is free to be a dengerate, and these types of ideals tend to appeal to the most mentally ill people.
So whenever these very ideas are called out for their flaws, the fans become insanely violent because someone dared to point out the disturbing truths about of their gay utopia and how it will ultimately make everybody's lives worse.

Steven Universe is constantly brought up for this because it embodies all the worst aspects that plague the animation industry to this day.

And what makes it worse is that these troon shows tend to appeal to teenagers with massive identity crises, and any advice they gain from these troon shows only makes them worse off because they're written by people who never knew what they were talking about to begin with and had ludicrous ideas on how reality should function.
It's the consequences of weak people offering solutions that help no one.
Whenever their ideas are put into practice, they immediately fall apart.

You're seeing the results of people trying to copy the John Money experiment worldwide, and all of humanity is paying the price.

Can't quote the whole post. I am a bit surprised people become that invested in what is simply a piece of entertainment. Books and games were my medium of choice growing up and I don't recall people making that their whole identity.

We had pretty gay stuff to. I read through homestuck. It just baffles me people get that heated over entertainment though the aggravating factors you mention make sense.

I wonder how they managed to get that for
the movie

Basically, Digital Circus is a better kids' show than Steven Universe, a supposedly real kids' show.

Knowing that Dana was former Disney and went to work for Glitch because she hated them, what are the odds that Rebecca Sugar will do the same because of all the dumb crap CN tried to do with Steven Universe's episode releases?
She’s getting a Lars of the Stars Show (How she is still getting work is beyond me), so I’m going to say not that likely, unless someone puts their foot down and tells her to ditch the gay crap she likely wants to pack in.

The Lurdwichaguls approached her to do a show for them. Said so in an interview they were with her on a swan boat or something that isn't on the YouTube page anymore. Or maybe it was a xitter post? I think that's how they got gooseworx for tadc too, I'd have to double check for anyone else.

ETA: Still can't find the full interview but found a YouTube short proving its existence

The premiere is gonna be a fiasco for sure. Even if everything goes well (wich I really doubt), this ain't gonna be the end of Glitch's problems. I bet the animators are going to call out Kevin's greed and kikery, I already see a documentary being made covering stuff we don't even know about.

But I have to ask: is this thread the first place where people are talking about the mistreatment of Glitch employees, or were people already talking about it outside of Glassdoor and Xitter?

How she is still getting work is beyond me
Connectionssssas and the ability to make something that at least appeals to womanchildren (thanks to songs & aesthetics) instead of to no one at all, but even if her earlier work had at least something of value hidden in some aspect of it, this Lars show really does just look too boring for even the womanchildren. Like even within the SU fandom I don't think many people were waiting for more LARS and his butthole ears out of all characters.

What do you mean?
So I looked up one show, and it had the name Pendleton Ward, Ian Jones-Quartey, and Patrick McHale, all names that show up between Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, SF, and OK-KO to name a few. If you have the same team of guys working on anything, it’s going to be the same crap over and over again. Say what you will about Glitch, when they make a show, I can at least say they’re different. Liam ain’t working on ADC, Goose ain’t working on KoG. But The former productions, the crew are running train on their shows.

I see and you have a point, a single group of people can't constantly produce original ideas.

Another thing is that mental health is a "triggering topic" and no one wants to portray the depressed as lazy, hindrances or abusive nor portray the sane people as mean or "ableist" so it creates this writing snowball of

1-depressed person is depressed and becomes some level of useless and/or abusive
2-no one notices or does anything
3-they get more depressed and have a dangerous breakdown
4-everyone is shocked and apologizes
5-they all hug and it's solved

It creates this fucked scenario where everyone enables mental illness until it personally affects them and it's trivialized by saying you could've just asked for a hug? This is why bojack sadhorse was praised, it's a rare show that actually calls out the mc for being abusive and using depression as an excuse.

I'm not saying every depressed character has to be called out but you don't have to write depression like this in the first place, there are other ways you can use it to deliver a message but it has to be a real message.

I'm afraid TADC is probably going to follow the same process, as it's extremely unlikely that it will say anything of value about depression or portray anyone negatively.

As someone who used to suffer from depression, something else a lot of media gets wrong is that depression doesn't just manifest as sadness. Real depression can and oftentimes does also manifest as complete and utter APATHY. You don't fucking give a shit whether you live or die, because life has become meaningless to you. You can't even muster up the energy to hate yourself anymore.

...Except for those two times when they had a guy named Kevin who was acting like a creep. Fuck that guy, he's worse than the colonizers, war criminals, and the many, many people that tried to kill Steven. Kevin sucks. Fuck Kevin.
At least he had the standards of leaving when he realized the woman he was flirting with was actually two twelve year olds.
