In a sane world Glitch and Spindlehorse will go down in history as gentrifiers of Internet animation, abusing the mechanisms of fandom for profit better than any institution before it ever could and ruining it for everybody else in its wake. But right now we're still in the honeymoon phase of this new cohort, and it's going to get much more autistic before it gets better.

Yes, that's the aforementioned "Indie Renaissance" that makes people like Saberspark and Vailskibum wet.

But not only that, it also managed to worsen fandom culture even further. TADC took the worst aspects of existing toxic fandoms (FNAF, Undertale, Steven Universe, MLP, Vivziepop) and mixed them together. The only thing this fandom is missing is an attempted murder. And the worst part is that the toxicity of the Digital Circus fandom will transfer to the next piece of media that obsesses the internet once the series ends.
Attempted murder?

I can smell the shitlib on you

My apologies I always get the two mixed up. Either way it does feel like favouritism or “we don’t want to say anything actually bad about specific people not to get blacklisted so we will be vague”.

the aggressive over expansion of the company definitely has made the conditions worse for people doing the hard yards. Especially with how disjointed communication had to be with all the new middle management hires they’ll need for the 4-5 shows they’ve adopted in the wake of TADC.

What do you mean?

Not surprised about this review, especially with hiring young people with little experience. It was something that was constantly warned about to us in art school by our professors. Companies love the fresh-faced, just getting out of college, young adults since they can usually squeeze the most work out of them with the least amount of paid. That's why we were always told to sell yourself above your worth.

Finally got around to reading this. It's mostly a normal interview bragging about Digital Circus' success or whatever, but some things stuck out to me...

Reading this part made me realize how backwards Glitch is approaching this theater release situation. By asking the fans to do the legwork of convincing theaters to approach THEM with a request to show the movie, Glitch isn't making decisions on which countries they want to show the movie in, rather they're making the decision of which countries they DON'T want the movie in.

It's a small distinction, but imagine going to a restaurant, looking at the menu and ordering the food you want. What Glitch is doing is demanding they cook every single dish on the menu, then as they're being brought out, decide if they like it or not, and if they don't they go "Sorry, I don't like this. I'm not eating it. Take it back to the kitchen. I'm not paying for it either"

In this case, instead of researching ahead of time of those country's laws and decide beforehand that they don't like the longer exclusivity, Digital Circus fans, at Glitch's request asked said country's theater to approach Glitch. Negotiations started, then Glitch realized these laws exist, and said no. Wasting the time and energy of both the fans and distributors. This same logic applies to them pulling out of countries for other reasons, like censorship.

There's also this. On the surface, it seems innocent enough. Kevin is glad that Glitch managed to build a passionate community that's willing to support them on this theater endeavor

As I read into it though, I realize how slimy and disgusting this statement actually is. What Kevin is basically saying is that through his and Luke's own experience in fandoms, they managed to figure out methods to create and manipulate a fandom that will be open to any dumb, stupid thing they do and buy anything they sell.

Also wanted to add this (sorry if this is too businessminded) but the new federal budget came out for Australia and they are proposing increasing the capital gains tax again which means that any investment whatesoever will be met with a 47% tax straight to the government. Makes you think what glitch's financials are going to look like once TADC end and how that money is going to go straight to albo's party of cronies and thieves.

My mother always told me that people called Kevin are always dicks, and I think she was right.
I think the fans might not understand the message of the show. Isn't Steven universe something about accepting yourself and others and undertale about restraint and compassion?

Why are their fans murderous what the fuck?
The undertale fandom took the genocide route.

Yes but the teenage artist drew Rose Qartz as 2 sizes skinnier than her show design and garnet with loose curls instead of an afro so by tumblr logic she had to go

So is the idea that the final episode is going to be a feature length animated movie? I think people are going to miss the days of nepotistic Jews running everything once troons start to dominate the animated movie industry.
Even funnier, it's just the episode we already saw and the last one back to back.

I love that alongside talking about Kevin's screw ups with Glitch, we're also having this conversation about Steven Universe. The show that's about accepting yourself and being considerate of others...

...Except for those two times when they had a guy named Kevin who was acting like a creep. Fuck that guy, he's worse than the colonizers, war criminals, and the many, many people that tried to kill Steven. Kevin sucks. Fuck Kevin.
