Mmm yes, Juneteenth.View attachment 8749762
Next episode just ties into Don't Hug Me I'm Scared season 2. I wonder if this date was chosen on purpose.
f r e e d o mMmm yes, Juneteenth.
Jax acting like what he did was okay because "it all turned out to be fake" actually made me mad.I am kind of puzzled around how Jax was just easily forgiven in Episode 8 of him pushing the button and treating it like not a big deal. Like not only do the writers just let Jax be an asshole who doesn't think about his action for a single second, they literally made the whole cast go with the trope of "Well everyone is kind of a bad person here in the circus so you're our asshole."
And I think this was the big "Only the strongest fans of Jax will forgive him" moment that Gooseworx was talking about to hype up how much people were going to hate him, but the show does not treat it as a big deal, it's the moment where everyone should hate him but it's treated with such kiddy gloves so it doesn't impact as much. I thought the second Jax was on screen they were all going to rip on him from what happened but it was treated as a nothing burger.
Everyone wants to have their own BoJack Horseman without actually having the show and characters treat them as such. You cannot run away bragging about how horrible your OC is and then turn around softening the blow by trying to make them sympathetic or their victims forgiving them easily.
It's like if someone picked up a gun and pulled the trigger while aiming directly at your head, then shrugged it off when you didn't die because there wasn't really a bullet in the gun, even though they only suspected that the gun wasn't loaded and didn't know for certain when they tried.Jax acting like what he did was okay because "it all turned out to be fake" actually made me mad.
The fact that none of them tried to kill him even if it was pointless, or none of them even tried to alienate him afterwards is one of the most unrealistic things about the show to me. These are supposed to be "human" characters but none of them act the way a person would in a situation like this.
Pomni's reaction at the end of the gun episode where she tries to kick his ass is the bare minimum of what they all should have done to Jax.
I can understand maybe Gangle and Kinger not caring. Kinger doesn't know where he is half the time and Gangle is straight up so depressed that her agreeing that it ultimately didn't matter makes sense.I get they're worn down by this point in the story but it just feels so bizarre to see the supposedly real human characters reacting in such an oddly passive way. I'd at least stop talking to him at that point, not just confront him as softly as possible once then move on and forget about it.
God Jax pisses me off, not just because he's obnoxious, but because the writer clearly LOVES him and thinks he's way deeper of a character than "lol I'm an asshole, b-but if I don't act like an asshole the other kids will laugh at me!!!" especially when people were celebrating how he's "not like regular tumblr sexymen and is actually an asshole" only to be like any other dickish and childish twink with a lame design who's coddled and favored by the narrative, fitting the mold perfectly.I feel like Jax just became too much of a creator's pet, so Goose drastically backtracked on how awful Jax is meant to be because he sees himself in the bunny twink.
It would have been more unexpected if Jax actually was just an fucking asshole. But I sadly saw it coming a mile away that he was going to turn out to be sad misunderstood angsty boy.especially when people were celebrating how he's "not like regular tumblr sexymen and is actually an asshole"
The bunny femboy. Please do not utter those words again when referring to dollar general insect rabbit.
I think that part stems on Caine's guilt for killing his "brother" programSomething that I hate, which like I get is part of the whole "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" Misandry/Nihilists bullshit is when Caine was yelling about how he didn't ask to be created.
t.
Listen we all know that clearly Jax is a post-op Trans Man with hidden top surgery scars who age regresses into a young boy which is why he's so angry and lost in the worldThe bunny femboy.

I don’t think it was a “forgive and forget” kinda thing, more a “what you did was absolutely shitty, but sitting here arguing about it isn’t gonna help or solve anything” kinda thing.
At that point, I think they’re just tired of fighting each other, especially when it could easily trigger an abstraction.
Plus he does it to get a rise out of people, so just not taking the bait solves the issue in itself.
The issue is that people see Jax as either “100% irredeemable asshole man” or “poor misunderstood baby man”. He’s treated by the majority of the fandom as one extreme or the other, when he falls somewhere in the middle.
I mean, yeah. It didn’t matter. That’s the whole point. All those other characters did a shitty thing to people on the real world. Jax and Co all in some old computer running on Windows 98.Imagine if someone said that unironically to bojack sadhorse lol. This is the shit people make fun of shows like steven universe and she-ra, but here it's only excused by the fact that it actually didn't matter.
The bussy hare.The bunny femboy.
That line right there was the 'okay, to wrap this plot up I need these characters to work together NOW so move along people, nothing to see here!' Sticks out like a sore thumb because no one else has done anything bad. A couple harsh words at most, from some characters, but that's it."We all done bad things"
Thing is, if goose had just placed that scene after Kinger gives them all new hope for escape, the 'let's shelve our hatred for Jax and work together' would've made a billion times more sense and spared us a therapy scene. It also would've been a shockingly human response to the situation. All yelling at him would do would give us another therapy session scene that everyone keeps complaining about.

All yelling at him would do would give us another therapy session scene that everyone keeps complaining about. In the characters eyes, the whole “it was a massive fucking fake-outa d we’re stuck in here forever” kinda eclipses Jax hitting the button in a weird panic attack thing, even though they pointed out it was shitty.

And conveniently it's left vague and then people realize she's full of shit. She probably just meant back in the real world but I doubt any of them did anything nearly as bad as (trying) to keep a bunch of people trapped in a simulation forever. We all done bad things
