The Moon once it realizes Caine is dead.

Jax getting skinned reveals what looked like to me as a simplified, abstract skull like the traditional symbol of caput mortuum. Makes me think he's afraid of death (which in the context of the circus is abstraction) and that everyone will laugh at him when he's gone.

I don't understand the claims for Jax being trans. I never saw that in the show. To me he's just Goose's personal torture goblin.

Jax's torture scene is obviously about him being insecure about showing his true self because he's afraid his friends will make fun of him. Having his skin ripped off is him being forcibly exposed and not able to hide anything from anyone. It's like being stripped naked but turned up to a horrifying extent.

I'm not particularly good at at analyzing deep meanings of media but I'm so confident that this is what that scene is about that I'm baffled that it can be misinterpreted. Everything about Jax's character has been him putting up barriers between himself and the other characters and insisting that they know nothing about him. Because if they don't know him then their opinion of him doesn't matter because it's not really him.

His nightmare is being laughed at by his friends after opening up to them.

That was my interpretation of it as well.

Pomni is the only one who is dead (of thirst).
Idk where you got this idea, but imo the only ones I think may be dead IRL are Gangle and Jax. Gangle’s semi may just be an in-circus experience so maybe it’s nothing, but I think the reason Jax freaked out in chapters 7 and 8 is because he died in a car crash.

We currently have no explanation for the flashes of a residential street that he saw before he pushed the button to stay. If you realized you might be dead outside the circus, you wouldn’t want to leave.

Furthermore, we don’t know how or why Jax, Gangle, or Zooble entered the circus.

I had this schizo thought that the black community is going to be angry because the finale is airing on Juneteenth and will take away so much attention from the "holiday". Wouldn't be the most retarded thing to happen this year.

>Character is defined by trauma over losing friends, blames himself and avoids exposing his real self again
>Character nightmare involves old friends turning against him and literally exposing his ugly inner self
>The most retarded person ever: "This is transgender allegory actually"

I almost feel sorry gooseworks ya know. Being transgender writer and having both the boldness and company trust to create a transgender character who represents their own gender disphoria (Zooble), only for your fandom not give a single fuck about them and be obcessed with the popular angsty male lead (jax) being trans.

Jax struggles with all the shit he's doing being real, while Caine struggles with all the shit he's doing being NOT real. They've reached similar breaking points, had similar crash outs because of that, and I think their rants could fit one another. Jax also seemed to be the only one that enjoyed Caine's adventures.
That's less direct similarity and more a connection you could make between the two in terms of character dynamics but yeah that's more of an "opposite situation but similar reaction" thing for lack of a better way of putting things in my current state.

...Also Jax is literally the guy that after being explained the trust exercise via it being rapid fire beamed directly into his head just decided to shoot the person next to him instead and also previously chucked that same person into a deep fryer because he didn't want to deal with the fast food job adventure. He does get that shit operates on wacked out cartoon logic though to an extent
the fact that he already commented that cis relationships were gross during the gun episode
That was a fourht wall breaking joke about him and pomni getting close to each other nd I WAS ALREADY BEAT TO IT AAARGH

Looks to me like he's being molested by faceless internet people. Which, considering how many are fetishizing the scene, is also basically true.
Some of the silhouettes are like the other characters I'm pretty sure that was meant as a like others treating him like he treats them kinda thing and also THE OTHER POINT I WAS BEATEN TO TWICE LOOKING AT THE THREAD AAAARGH

Yeah, but what if it's all deliberate, the entire cast puts on blackface after defeating their whyte oppressor KKKaine and Gooseworx announces he's detransitioning?

When Kinger is at the computer it briefly flashes that he was entered into the Circus in 1996, and Ragatha in 2000, whilst Pomni describes the building as completely abandoned. If goose is serious that no one has guessed the twist, then my guess is that everyone else who entered the Circus did so when the company was active and ubiquitious and taking scans of volunteers - who then left and continued their normal lives. They don't necessarily all have to be logged in at the same building through the same headsets - otherwise, how could defunct C&A have the electricity bills paid to keep the system live? Pomni however was alone when she logged in, and so conceivably she just stayed hooked in to the headset and wasted away to nothing with no one to disconnect her.

No one knows because Goose is a shit writer that never lets the characters have the obvious round-table conversation of 'well, how did we each get here? Is there anyone on the outside who might help us?' That any normal group of human beings desperate to escape would have and refer to often.

I do agree Jax is probably comatose in real life due to a car accident, or is at least worried he might still be. He's probably there because C&A's technology went on to be used for brainscanning hospital patients. Up to this point his attitude was that the whole thing was a coma-dream, so he didn't take it seriously. Now he accepts that it's real and that he's probably a vegetable in the real world.

I don't think Gangle is dead, just has suicidal ideation.

Something that I hate, which like I get is part of the whole "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" Misandry/Nihilists bullshit is when Caine was yelling about how he didn't ask to be created.

I get that that's a standard rogue ai plot point thanks to IHNM, but I absolutely hate that mentality with a passion. It prevades people like trannys and those that don't want to have kids.

I get it's just a fictional story yada yada, just something I was thinking about.

Yeah, but the difference here is that people can always change their way of thinking somehow. A computer program, no matter how advanced, is still a prisoner of its own core baselines and settings that someone else set for them.

I like the idea of Bubble being some kind of rouge AI or virus, and the show seems to be kind of going that direction with the character. After watching again I doubt Jax will actually do anything horrible from here on out unless they pull something out of their ass. I'm sure the finale will be longer like most series, and I'm honestly pretty excited to see how they end this thing out. This episode is definitely a close second favorite of mine for sure, which is relieving coming off of episode 7.

I am kind of puzzled around how Jax was just easily forgiven in Episode 8 of him pushing the button and treating it like not a big deal. Like not only do the writers just let Jax be an asshole who doesn't think about his action for a single second, they literally made the whole cast go with the trope of "Well everyone is kind of a bad person here in the circus so you're our asshole."

And I think this was the big "Only the strongest fans of Jax will forgive him" moment that Gooseworx was talking about to hype up how much people were going to hate him, but the show does not treat it as a big deal, it's the moment where everyone should hate him but it's treated with such kiddy gloves so it doesn't impact as much. I thought the second Jax was on screen they were all going to rip on him from what happened but it was treated as a nothing burger.

Everyone wants to have their own BoJack Horseman without actually having the show and characters treat them as such. You cannot run away bragging about how horrible your OC is and then turn around softening the blow by trying to make them sympathetic or their victims forgiving them easily.

I feel like Jax just became too much of a creator's pet, so Goose drastically backtracked on how awful Jax is meant to be because he sees himself in the bunny twink.
