Deathspell Omega have announced their 8th album, The Long Defeat.

The official press release claims this is the "first new emanation of the third era of Deathspell Omega." Sooooo apparently they consider The Furnaces of Palingenesia a part of the Si Momentum trilogy?

Are we getting a new sound on this record? Furnaces was already kind of a new sound.

One man black metal from Colorado with themes centered on Native American folklore.

Metalhead Kiwis, I come to you with a question.

A friend of mine pointed me to this and asked 'Any ideas who this is?'. And I admit I am flat out stumped (it doesn't help I'm not as much of a metalhead as some).

Thoughts? If this is already covered in another thread, let me know and I'll fuck off to there.

I just discovered Sleep Token and I am blown away. Beautiful songwriting and the atmosphere so deep and watery. They sound incredible live. Vocalist has some pipes and the drummer is something special indeed.

Googling the title and various lyrics only brings up a handful of threads asking about the identity of the band. Are we sure this isn't a hoax? Like maybe some literal whos recorded their best impression of an 80s metal song with the reverb cranked up and uploaded it with a made-up story about hearing it on a specific radio station in the 80s (makes it sound credible, but basically impossible to verify).
Anyway, no idea.

Could be. Nothing's impossible, after all, and God knows there have been crazier hoaxes on the Internet.

Not really a hoax bc I have that CD but another weird case.

Metal Archives

No band name, no album name, no songs titles, no lyrics, no name of the involved musician(s).

The label on the CD is white. There is no booklet just a card with a statement on it. It's a long statement about how the Black Metal scene and everything about Black Metal sucks and that the person who did that CD doesn't want to be a part of the scene.

The only hint is that the songs have been recorded at "Wäldliche Tonschmiede" (WT) in 2005.
WT is long defunct as a studio and label.

New Deathspell's been out a bit. It's different. Open your mind though and I think you'll find plenty to enjoy. It's basically DsO playing some sorta blacknroll progblack hybrid, but it's all filtered through the usual DsO nightmare lens. Give it a chance.
