One of my favorite memories was a few years back when YT would constantly push MSM shit. There was some Pajeet bitch from the CIA giving some press conference and I went into the comments and go "The great, late Terry A. Davis gave the best advice on what to do when you see these spooks on the side of the road when you're driving."
Some boomer comes in and goes "It would help to tell us what he said."
Someone different comes replies to him with "You just run them over, that's s'what you do."
 
Terry was a hero. I would have loved to know his thoughts on modern AI. I doubt they would be kind, but he believed you could speak to god through the machine so perhaps he'd be building temple AI.

If it wasn't for his disease I can only imagine the things he would have made.
 
I often think about how things may have been different if Terry didn't have schizophrenia or at the very least got the help he needed before things got out of control.

It's really hard to put into words just how gifted he was and the average person could never fully comprehend just how impressive his achievements really are. Aside from the incredible feat of creating a programming language, compiler, and operating system from scratch, I genuinely think we could have gotten consumer 3D printers much earlier than we actually did if that milling machine project he was working on worked out.

He was destined to contribute meaningfully to society regardless, and while he may not have contributed in the way he had originally hoped, without him and his witty personality the internet would have been a very different place today.

Happy birthday and godspeed to the smartest programmer that ever lived. I wish we could have seen him in his prime.
 
Loosing King Terry was a sad occasion and it is even sadder that to most normies hes just some racist schizo programmer.
Every day I worked in Web Dev I started to despise it more and seeing what Terry did and hearing him talk about programming has certainly changed my view on programming. Do I still write garbage? Sure! But I always try to live by the words "An idiot admires complexity, a genius admires simplicity" and make my code as simple and readable as I can.

God bless Terry! May he continue to write HolyC programms for and with god!
 
I put a statue of Terry in my submission for the Kiwi Game Jam, including a plaque with the famous bird quote.

Unfortunately unlike Terry I am a nigger and used Godot instead of Holy C so I'm not sure if he'd consider this flattering or insulting, but I wanted to honour his memory.
 
That's such a sweet picture of him in the Community Happenings thread, haven't seen it before. Has these sweet late 80's, early 90's family picture vibes.
I will honor his memory with calling someone "the blackest gorilla nigger" today, most likely my girlfriend because i am not going out.

For me, the profoundity of the bird quote surpasses anything any western philosopher ever said, Kierkegaard could never come up with something equivalent.
 
I'll never get over the fact that Terry, at least in his later years, looks a lot like my dad.

Terry Davis. Truly is. An orthodoxy, what we would call a fool for Christ. Which is someone who acts in a awkward manner. To spread the gospel.
