Skeletron status = RAPED
Took me 6 tries though. Spent some time farming for stars so i could use the Star Cannon against him. Surprise surprise, he reflects them back at you. Not just while spinning, during the whole fucking fight! Star Cannon was useless to me. So i figured out another plan...
The Traveling Merchant sometimes sells a weapon called the Gray Zapinator, it's rare so i always buy it when he offers. Thing is, this is the gambler's dream weapon. Its projectiles can be affected by numerous random effects, bouncing around erratically, traveling at 1 block speed, ignoring blocks, having 10x multipliers and so on so forth... And they also stack... So i started my plan. First i made i long minecart track in my hellbridge and them i crafted 20 or so abeeminations so i could summon Queen Bee in the jungle and quickly teleport to my base. From there, i'd ride the tracks till she was aligned with me while i spam the Zapinator (it costs 0 mana to shoot if you're wearing full meteor armor set btw). My average damage is not great since i have everything forged to warding BUT, it's a bossmanjack build, so the gambling is the best part. With some buffs, i had 70 damage per shot, but i would hit the jackpot with the multipliers for BIG DMG. How big you ask? 700 damage if i get the multiplier. Even better when the projectile stays almost immobile after i shoot, and the boss runs through it taking the BIG DMG for multiple frames. After eradicating Terraria's bee population, i had enough wax to craft over 400 beenades, and went to my arena near the dungeon
Now getfixedboi's skeletron is a pain in the ass because of the new mechanics. He's faster, has more acceleration and can deflect projectiles when spinning, and reflect stars during all the fight. Not to mention the dungeon entrance was a straight tunnel so everytime i'd start the fight odds were that i'd take a 150 hit damage as soon as the skeleton spawned. Luckily for me, i had this mount that gives you a low cooldown dash that ignores collisions, so i could use it to avoid Skeletron's damage if he got too near me
So i proceeded to spam beenades until my framerate started going to shit (there must be literally thousands of bees pursuing skeletron). Since he's fast it took a while for them to get to him. The bees ate away his hands and now the fuckery was about to begin
He summons 4 dark casters on his second phase, and they love bumping into you making you lose momentum, this is the part where you usually die because you lose speed and skeletron stunlocks you on the spin attack, but the no collision dash helped me. The zapinator was really effective against him, as sometimes the projectile got "lodged" in the skull during the spin phase
By far the hardest fight so far. Master Mode skeletron is pretty easy compared to this version. Now i can finally access the dungeon and get me a cobalt shield and knockback won't be an issue anymore
