Temtems? More like lamelames.

There, now it's not a doublepost.
Thank you. You made me laugh (with you) and cringe (at myself) a the same time.

Back on topic, temtem since long since had released its 1,0 update...
...over half a year after I last posted here.

On what happened since then:
  • They released a sort of Battle Frontier, but you need a token if you wan to access them. However, you earn 5 tokens each week. The facilities are:
    • A combination of the Fighting Dojo in Pokémon Heart Gold/Soul Silver and the Challenge Machine from the Pokémon Trading Card Game
    • The Battle Factory in Pokémon Emerald, but more customizable
    • The Battle Tower in Pokémon Crystal, but with an ever-changing banlist
    • A variation of the Battle Pyramid from Pokémon Emerald, but with only wild tems
    • The Purity Forest from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue Team
    • Two-player lairs where you can win a prize tem egg of your choice
  • Winning these facilities will grant you feathers, which are th equivalent of Battle Points.
  • They nerfed the grinding requirements and Luma odds. In fact, they nerfed a lot of difficult parts these days.
  • In-ap purchases are in the form of Novas, which bu you a Tamer Pass, which buys you... cosmetics. They are deliberately avoiding making the game 'pay to win'.
  • They also fixed a lot of glitches and performance issues.
  • A temtem artbook got released. Only those wh own temtem can ge the digital edition, which still requires purchase. Moreover, there is a physical edition that i still purchasable.... sinc early September.
Apparently, they are going to go wi the 1,1 and 1,2 updates together soon:
The stuff is:
  • More Season rewards
  • More Showdown UI stuff, including sharing your configurations with others
  • Battle idle animations
  • New battl environments
  • Events
  • More customisation
  • Elite Kudos, which are harder Kudos
  • The usual balance tweaks
I would have wondered if the release of Pokémon Scarlet/Violet would push more people into temtem again, but, between temtem being old news a this point and the gameplay innovations Pokémon Scarlet/Violet have despite the glitches, I am not sure anymore.

Fucking lame.

If they wanted to compete with Scarlet & Violet, shouldn't they add an new questline or something?

Temtem blew. If you want a pokemon alternative support the (non) World titles. Unless you are a slut for grinding then World is for you.

This might be because you can't go back to temtem after Scarlet/violet without being slapped in the face with a downgrade.

In Pokemon SV and Temtem, a major part of the start of the game's setting is that you're supposed to be attending basically an academy, and getting your first mon is part of that process. That might be surprising to some of the people who've actually played temtem, and i'll explain why.

Now, in Scarlet and Violet, you attending this academy is basically central to the entire plot. Every major storyline revolves around you and a classmate, the academy's staff are related to other people you meet throughout the game - the Ghost Gym Leader is the sister of the Math teacher, for example.
In addition, you have no less than 42 classes you can attend (six sessions of 7 subjects, not counting midterms and finals which are just quizzes), which unlock as you progress through the game. Each one details some more obscure mechanics, from the special bonus Pokeball you get from buying in sets of 10 (presented as a Trick math question) to shit like the shiny charm and how to evolve certain difficult Pokemon.

In additional addition, you have side quests with each of the main staff which give further details about them and their lifestyles, and even give some cool rewards. The history teacher tells you a story about cursed gifts which became Pokemon, and you can actually go out and find these Pokemon. The major antagonists are a faction of school delinquents. The school nurse is trying to get certified as a teacher. EVERYTHING ties back to the academy, and it's perhaps the most fleshed-out place in any Pokemon game ever.

In temtem you literally don't even have to walk through the schools door. You can literally stop at one second-hand shop in the same town, Pick up the rechargeable mobile Pokemon center because the devs suck ass at level design, and be on your way. All that's in there is two very unimportant side quests.

Update 1,2 is here.
  • A new medieval Season appeared. That means new Trainer Pas stuff, new meta rankings, and new meta rewards.
  • Ranks and subranks take the role of TMR, which, while hidden, decays. The ranks are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Legend.
  • Temtem Showdown (which really is just Pokémon Showdown, but with temtem), got fully released, letting you participate in Ranked Battles without actually training a team.
  • Teams of tems do not autolevel in ranked battles.
  • The first official tournament starts on Saturday, Dec 17, 4:00 PM UTC. Only the strongest 16 registrants can enter, and they have to register before December 13. Participants are allowed only one team in a best-of-3 match in the double elimination bracket with random seeding.
  • New battl environments, including idle cameras and music, are themed after the islands. They are selected randomly in competitive battles.
  • Neoedo opened its Beauty Parlour. Feathers let you essentially redo your character.
  • More cosmetic rewards can be won in the form of Events. The first one, Winterfest, begins at December 12.
  • Elite Kudos are Hard Mode Kudos.
  • There are less Koish colour options and a colourblind option, simplifying fishing.
  • More high quality animations and further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

Idk if you can call this "respectable" Screenshot_20221208-175123_Chrome.jpg

I am late here, but I should talk about Patch 1,3.

  • The last day of Season 3 is June 19th.
    • Since Season 3 started, your TMR will be averaged between your current quantity and 1.000.
    • Rank is redistributed.
  • Several hard modes launched: Nuzlocke (but with 2 instead of 1 tem, unless if co-op), Randomlocke, and Speedrun.
    • Eac hard mode has its own save file.
    • There is a separate server dedicated to hard modes.
    • You canno trade or gain Tamer Pass experience.
    • Tems fainted during PVP do not count against a hard mode run.
    • Saipark only has residen tems.
    • There are no Lumas.
    • You can restart a hard run at any time.
    • Hard modes have kudos and othe rewards.
  • Nanto Labs lets you turn Lumas into Luma Drops, which can buy cosmetics, TemCardX, and more.
  • Game consoles have an 'Exit Game' button tha take you to the lobby.
  • 15 Backer have their characters in the game. Look in the Dojos.
  • There has been work in rebalancing.

Nanto Labs lets you turn Lumas into Luma Drops,

so
if I'm understanding this right, in the context of the game's world and lore
you can horrifically mutilate your own extremely rare TemTems and use their bodily fluids to get paid-for perks like clothing and more stuff to capture tems with? that, or otherwise kill them to get a currency?

I understand that these people are so supremely retarded that they made an animal liberation organization with its entire in-game reward system being based around enslaving as many tems as you can for the maximum amount of rewards
but did they not think about the implications of a mechanic like this for even half a millisecond before shoving it out the door?

They could be fluids dropped from the Lumas, instead.
Then again, th exact words ar 'Exchange your Lumas for Luma Drops'.

Either way, I honestly think that all of the Gameplay and Story Segregation from the games the developers played all their lives kicked in there.

They could be fluids dropped from the Lumas, instead.
Absolute best case scenario it's Luma spit
regardless of which bodily fluid is producing the "drops" , I'm not actually surprised that this catastrophe in worldbuilding is coming from TemTem
it's from an MMO, the scummiest genre imaginable (mobile is a platform so it doesn't count unfortunately), gameplay trumps storytelling in every single aspect solely because the gameplay is what brings in the cash
even if it sucks ass regardless

I still didn't need to think about this today though lol
God damn Crema couldn't you have said Luma "crystals" or some shit that would've been so much nicer

Patch 1,4:
  • The current season i summer-themed.
  • The next seasons wil last 4 months because of development quality concerns.
  • In trying to help others new to PvP, Showdown will have an automated recommended build system that depends on the current PvP scene. While you build a Ranked Showdown team, the system will suggest Tems that you may add to your team, then suggest a couple of hand-made builds per each Tem you do choose. However, you can still build your TemTeam the wa you want.
  • Lumas ca now b entered in Showdown if they are OT or Soulbound. They also have to have 50 or 1 SVs, all TVs assigned, and all Egg techniques learned.
  • Dojo Wars are held monthly now. The sign-u period will be a week now. Clubs who sign up but do not participate wil lose Pansuns from their Club Vaults.
    • The King of the Hill system is gone. Regents will have to start over.
    • The matchmaking system now prioritises matchmaking different players pe round.
    • Rounds now start 5 minutes after th end of combat of the previous round.
    • Dojo Wars finals now need 9 players.
    • Players that win matches in Dojo Wars get individual prizes on top of Club rewards.
    • Because of update conflicts, no Dojo Wars will happen until July 24 to 30.
  • The Premium Sto reduced its Premium item slots to 2 and increased its daily item rotation to 8.
  • You can pre-visualise Surf mounts.
  • In-game tournaments now have a minimum of 13 to 16.
  • If you sign up to a tournament and the tournament fails due to lack of participants, you can still gain Kudos.

  • You can toggle the camera.
  • Nalla's Quest no longe requires uccessful fishing, but just any fish caughn in the Nuru Lodge.
  • If you defea the last boss on the las turn, you win.
  • If you tie against a battle against a NPC, you win and your Tem will gain an extra 1 HP.
  • There is more visual clarity.
    • There is an overextertion visual indicator.
    • Tems in battle will be outlined.
    • You can see which Gears are inactive.

Of course, there is the most obvious thing:

TemTem i celebrating pride until July 10th.

(I pretty much made that noise out loud once I read that news.)

There ar exclusive rewards this Pride. Most of them are purchaseable, but Pride banners are instead unlocked with a password.

(To those curious abou the above video, that wa supposed to be the sound Socks did after Bluey said 'Barnacus was finally happy.')

Back on track, there is this video:

In shor, TemTem is dying. TemTem Showdown is being cancelled because of performance issues. Events and tournaments are also being discontinued. The problem is tha TemTem is essentially a single-player game that had the MMO features hoved into the game without knowing how they work. Others were begging a single-player mode, bu the TemTem team keep refusing. There are also problems with grinding, bu the TemTem team did not wan to disrup the in-gam economy. However, the team is teasing something.

There's no way temtem stands a chance when it's stuck between the still existing Pokemon audience that'll lap up whatever trash Gamefreak produce and avoid anything else like the plague, and the new base around Palworld, a game that got bigger than Temtem could have ever hoped to be.

Honestly, even wi the aforementioned issues, I still wonder why TemTem was not a big success in its own right.
The again, I say the same about Coromon...
