After investigating it a bit, it turns out that what makes this so annoying is that the hotkeys are likely a keyup event that doesn't check for a prior keydown event. So if you enter some URL ending in a number in a way such that you:
- press a number key
- press enter
- release enter
- release the number key,
the site sees the keyup event for the number and redirects you.
I had to install the addon I posted earlier because I use foobar to listen to music and I set global hotkeys (they work even when foobar's out of focus) for volume adjustment etc. and it would interrupt browsing the forum constantly.

Since a lot of addon source code leaked from the git, I have audited every single custom add-on with AI tonight and updated every bullshit thing it complained about. If you have any weird bugs let me know.

The "Messages" link in the user popover redirects to a search page that, for users with multiple consecutive periods the username, is a 400 error, response type text/plain, with content "Bad Request". This is likely because it is trying to protect against path traversal in a naive way and case in point does not trip on non-alphanumeric characters, spaces, or Unicode.

Examples:

muting/unmuting a video causes every video on that page to also mute/unmute
volume settings are stored in the browser storage as a preference.

how would you propose this be changed. this is how youtube works. video players set a preference. what do you want. should this just be 100% by default every time.

Tartarus is suddenly checking everything I do from downloading a video to returning to regular forum viewing. I take it the pedophile freak is changing tactics again trying to spam CP? Faggot nigger needs to get a life. Or a rope.

you should close all Kiwi Farms tabs and re-open the main page.

Is that just from chat? that still isn't fixed? god damnit

I don't think it's from the chat since chat normally don't appear within A&N threads and only the one thread was affected. That said, it seems to be back to normal at the time being as it's sitting at ~100MBs of usage.

Might be under the vertical . . .
(I missed this reply)

That's not the issue, it's still in the rich editor, the buttons aren't greyed out, they just aren't clickable, including the bbcode toggle. I can hover over them and get a tooltip but they do nothing when I click them. Interestingly the tooltip is the white system one you get when you hover over a greyed out button (like the redo button) rather than the colored stylized tooltip you get from a working button. It persists from page to page, ctrl+f5, etc, eventually just starts working again randomly.

Zero idea what causes it. I'm in Chromium on Windows fwiw. If nobody else is experiencing it it's probably a me issue but throwing it out there anyway.

Minor weirdness on Windows desktop, clearnet: I normally check my alerts by going straight to the alerts page, instead of clicking the bell (I just like to see all my alerts at once). Normally, going directly to the alerts page clears all the alerts that are on the bell, but that's no longer the case since the downtime last night. The number on the bell stays there now.

I tried clearing cookies in the browser and logging back in after Tartarus verification, but it's still happening. This does not happen on the mobile site for some reason, if I go to the alerts page on mobile, it clears the bell as usual.

Does Tarturus unintentionally (or intentionally) punish faster connections?

I have 10gig up/down fiber, this problem has been happening for a few months where only my home network takes an abnormal amount of time to solve the Tarturus challenges and relatively recently it’s been failing them until I attempt a few different times. I’ve cleared cache/history/cookies/closed all pages/used private windows/etc. haven’t changed DNS settings or anything home network wise for at least a year because it was more bearable until recently. I don’t do anything weird besides shitposting here. I have Mullvad which I use occasionally but has never caused problems.

Any time Tarturus starts failing to verify, switching to either cellular or turning my phone into a hotspot for any desktops solves the problem, but going back to the home network after logging in will just give me errors on the farms. Kind of at a loss since nothing on my end has changed that I’m aware of.

Challenges are CPU-based.

There are penalties stacked depending on your connection.

Not meant as a criticism (this is a very interesting problem to discuss/solve, and my devices may be outliers): My subjective impression is that the PoW is too hard on my phone (newish Pixel 10 Pro, takes at least 3-4 minutes and often a retry or two), and too easy on desktop on same connection (almost 10 year old generic Intel box, never more than 5 seconds). If it's not giving away too much info to attackers, I'd be curious the metrics you use to tune this.

I've reduced the difficulty.
