I used to have a nice, tiny crttv that I played my old games on. Had the right specs for it that made the details look "just right."
Then one day I took a trip somewhere, and when I got back, it was gone, and everyone else was like "Nutroaster, that TV was old, and wasn't getting reception anymore. Why don't you get a big LCD screen like ours?"

To this day, I still haven't found that perfect CRTTV...
Thing is, it was plugged in, clearly being used and hooked up. They just got rid of it to get me to get a "better" tv. That, and I had no idea they were getting rid of things in MY room.
I just got to reading these. That is majorly fucked up. I remember my mom doing something similar, and I gave her quite the word about it. None of my stuff has ever disappered since, especially old tech.

Very cool new YouTube short trend where people bracket a video so it looks like you are watching it on Twitter (not zoomed in) so you might be tricked into reading their retarded opinions

If there is an afterlife, I hope there's no "social media" in it.

Can you imagine an ∞ years with "social media" influencing life?

Well, a little dream came true: got a CRTTV, big an' silver, but she runs beautifully for $25. Still as good to play Megaman on as I remember.

Good current production integrated amplifiers for reasonable prices. Nowadays all you get is low quality shit or insanely expensive audiophile equipment. It took me a good while to set up my entirely german hi-fi setup because of that. 2 out of three pieces are also older than me because the german hi-fi industry unfortunately got destroyed by the japanese.

Not sure if this counts, but the touchscreens that many fine purveyors of goyslop insist on forcing onto its customers. In the time it takes to put in an order, I could have spoken to someone at the counter, paid for my meal and be at least 4 nuggies deep into it.

Remember a time when fast food menus were just printed pictures with backlights? Or those things with stick-on letters?

Kiwi Farms remembers.

Tech and software that you buy and then own.

Shit has gotten so bad I had to completely ditch Windows.
It's fucked that they can change the deal after the sale. Paywalling, censorship of media, altering books after purchase.
You used to be able to buy software at a price and you got to use that as long as you liked. Now its subscription after subscription.
Don't forget about bundling bullshit into things to raise the cost.

I now officially cannot login to several websites anymore via VPN without being trapped in the Cloudflare-Human-Verification-Hell. I can either disable it, or forfeit them completely. Fucking wonderful new tech world. KiwiFlare is infinitely better than this jeet-technology.

Corporate AI. I'm now having to sit through like the 3rd AI company presenting to my employer how AI will save us tons of money and improve our customer's metrics and other bullshit.
Luckily it's not my department interested in this shit. And since everything is remote I can basically ignore it while being present on the Zoom meeting. I do sort of miss the days when they at least had to come to our office and buy us lunch to make us listen to this stuff.

I just use AI for funny pictures from time to time. And to detect squirrels in my yard.

altering books after purchase
I dislike how some books are only available in paperback now. They deteriorate much quicker than hardcover books - I don't think I've managed to read a single paperback book without it looking "well-worn" even after the first reading. Whereas if you read a hardcover, if you're not a retard, it will almost certainly look basically untouched. If I were paranoid I'd say its to prevent the preservation of information, or to encourage you to buy multiple copies, but I know its just to save a little bit of cost.

Know how vidya may have that "region lock" BS? Looks like corporations are not only trying to turn the 'net into Cable TV 2.0, they're trying to make it "region locked" too.

Aw, while I like my hardcovers because pretty, there's nothing more satisfying than cracking the spine on a new paperback, and I take a certain amount of pride of how worn they look on my bookshelf, considering the people who literally just buy books as decoration and never touch them and have no interest in even taking them off their bookshelves.

I miss the feel of texting with buttons on a phone.
Remember when you could get away with texting while driving because you didn't need to look at your phone to text because you knew where the numbers were and how many times to hit the button to get the letter you want?
