Many people including myself were saying exactly this 15 years ago and we were shouted down by gaben bootlickers because valve was the "wholesome" video game company that could do no wrong

"The Mann-conomy Update and its consequences have been a disaster for the TF2 Playerbase. They have greatly increased the profit-expectancy of those of us who make “workshop” items, but they have destabilized the genre, have made FPS shooters unfulfilling, have subjected the average F2P to indignities, have led to widespread nickel & diming (in the Third World to physical scamming as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the gaming industry. The continued development of P2W practices will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject gamers to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the gaming industry, it will probably lead to greater gameplay disruption and pathological grifting, and it may lead to increased storage bloat even when using “No Hat” mods." - Dr. Dell Conagher circa 2014, manifesto distributed by one Mister Jane Doe via dedicated 'Last Request' bucket.

Trading was fun 10 years ago when there weren't bots and kikes ripping you off everywhere. I remember a friendly aussie selling me a strange hitman's heatmaker and told me "good hunting, mate" on a skial trading server in 2014. good times. I remember when I would dick around in EU trading servers in the early 2010s and niggers wouldn't stop adding me for my Cosa Nostra Cap.

I'm glad I got out and sold my backpack of 300$ as well as installed some mods to remove faggot cosmetics that ruin the art style. Remember, Its going to get more difficult to sell your shit off as the years go by and the playerbase shrinks:

Gambling aspect aside, which as always slimey, I never had a problem with the Mann-conomy until recent years. I think it was fine when Valve was actively maintaining the game. New crates would come out frequently enough to prevent strange weapons from ballooning in price, and a few rare unusual effects for the whales to fight over.

Now its a mess. Because Valve has done nothing for 10 years other than add shitty cases that no one wants, its just caused a few faggots to hoard all of the fun stuff.

There is NO REASON strange gunslingers should cost $500. Strange Orginals $300+, PDAs $200, etc. These salvaged crate stranges have ballooned in price because of Valve's neglect.

For the record, my backpack is worth around $2000 mostly because of strange weapons I've collected over the years. I have 0 intention of selling them because they are supposed to track progress, not be some gay status symbol.

I really hope Valve tanks the market on strange weapons. The people who actually use their strange weapons don't want to sell them because they have thousands of kills racked up on them over the years. The only people afraid of Valve actually putting out a new case are these hoarder types who treat the game as an exotic investment.

If you have enough discretionary income to put thousands of dollars into TF2 items... You can't bitch when your "investment" tanks. I'd wager half of these hoarders don't even play the fucking game.

also on an unrelated note, and also a rather late discovery, great blue made a vid about new theoretical upgrades that'd totes help the shitty weapons of the gamemode...
https://youtube.com/watch?v=NWQmSP3eL-s...it's really fucking bad and it's on the same level of grouch's rebalance video basically
Idk, I watched about halfway through it. He definitely had some stinkers in that video. (Trolldier does NOT need to viable in MvM.) But I didn't think it was as bad as the grouch video. He had some fresh ideas IMO.

i should rectify that statement since it's not as bad, it's worse:
  • as a start it's all hearsay, at least grouch/his team (and by extension that faggot of thewhat as well) was/were competent enough to actually implement the gibberish he/they talked of and show the results in a video
  • several of his ideas (projectile penetration on rockets, explosive headshots on huntsman and spy aggro upgrades as a few examples) would be practically impossible to implement in a sensible fashion and/or would be a nightmare to balance right
  • hidden stats everywhere because you need to make the gamemode that is already beginner-unfriendly even more beginner unfriendly by flooding them with upgrades that hide what they actually do
  • EVERYTHING IS SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE
had forgot about it, but was also sent a video of potato.tf mission devs reviewing the video and going in further detail about what's what and why they'd be as again an impossibility to manage in-game
thankfully for convenience every bit is timestamped so you don't have to watch the entire thing to understand how nightmarish his proposals are, but still, don't let mann up players think of anything since they're that tarded on average

The first thing I see of his video is Great Blue wanting to buff Widowmaker with damage upgrades. This 100% confirms that this retarded furry doesn't play MvM, or at least he doesn't play the game mode as opposed to the gambling machine with a delay.

also speaking of mvm, decided to delve in the current potato event, barring two missions that i still haven't had found any games for yet these are my observations
  • single soldier robot is cutscene the mission, be prepared to be reminded why april is the unfunniest month of the year (also lots of ultrakill OST, truly a thinker)
  • deja vu is a boss rush, not the most exciting but even with its gimmicky bosses it winds up being a rather cozy mission
  • roguelike is as straightforward as it can be, and it's another cozy mission especially since you're just playing valve's rottenburg, it's as dry as it can be
  • too many cooks is a regular expert with gimmicky robots, requires some brains to play but it's still as straightforward as it can be
  • total chaos is a shitpost mission with its shitposty balance, thus it's as fun as it can get
  • something in the air is a gimmicky/vanilla mission, but like single soldier robot expect to be flooded with lots of unfunny jokes
  • a dark zone is essentially speaking a fetch minigame but with lots of sub-minigames, it's not the worst but you're also not really playing mvm
  • agnosiachromatopsia is lots of brainrot memes basically, expect uncanny cat, a few flashbangs, warioware, phonk and a gimmicky boss fight with a cutscene
  • hexer is a vanilla (and rather easy) mvm mission but filled with a lot of 2016 references
if you don't fancy the music for any of them i advise to bind snd_restart to a button, but some sound effects can't be silenced with it

If someone doesn't play community MvM their opinion on the subject is less than useless.

Am I the only one who thinks that MvM is kind of boring? The loot you get is nice, but playing the gamemode itself never felt engaging to me.
I think on it's own, it's a pretty tepid horde shooter.

factually mvm is a side dish to the rest of the game, and like most/all team-based hordes it's a very static gamemode, the new experiences come from the failures of your team than the gamemode itself (especially since there's no map flexibility whatsoever in there, so think like playing pdth)...

...but the bigger problem is that it's valve's mvm, it's that static since it's not only abhorrently easy, but overplayed to death
mann up players loathe skilled players since it gives them the cold reminder that what they play is that brain numbing (especially since it's mostly advanced thus two cities) so you get cases like demo being really mediocre but looking like the shit since there's no density whatsoever so bad weapons like the scotres look op and classes like the spy look like shit since there's no giant density whatsoever

potato solves the staticness of the gamemode with its gargantuan repertoire of maps and/or custom balancing in some, but ignoring the fact that you still need 4/5 other players to enjoy it, there's the simpler issue that people have had got brain radiation (STALKER ahoy) or some shit since even with that rather major issue solved, people (or should i say addicts/cattle in this context?) cannot conceive playing this without monetary rewards

it's because all the waves are static and you're facing the same robots in the same pattern for 14+ years now. imagine if you played L4D but it was always the same zombies in the exact same spots at the exact times, it'd be super fucking boring. if they added some kind of system that detected how well you were doing during a wave and adjusted difficulty based on that it might be more interesting.

It's a kind of bring your own fun kind of game mode. Even community missions get boring if you're running meta everything all the time.

AI wave director implemented in VScript that modifies subwaves based on how well you're doing and what team comp you're running, without going overboard, would be a really big thing for MvM IMO.

let's see you niggers try to defend this:

Yep. Only reason why Valve won't bring back old stranges, spells, hween effects, etc, is because the tradefags would pitch an absolute fit.

I see claims from traderfags that the economy and scene is getting better and better when it really isn't. You look around, especially for things worth a shit in terms of appearance, and they're all jammed in the top backpacks, hoarded and gathering dust to the end of time (or until someone pays 2x minimum what the kike paid for in the first place). Nobody is getting in because the guys at the top will never accept they made a shit deal and will sit on their arse with something for years to even get a sliver of a profit from a bad trade. I see someone buy something for like 1300 and next day he relists it for 2000, like come the fuck on, everyone sees the price it went for.

Very glad I recently managed to cash out. $3000 sees much better use for paying bills (or actual investment shit) compared to slow moving virtual hats. I have crate depression hats to use to show off, anyways.

Trader fags need humbling, Valve should have guaranteed strange weapons as tour rewards for all the super expensive stranges for the new mvm update, along with a strange dragon's fury of course.
