You don't have a right to complain or expect shit to change if you keep throwing money at them for doing nothing
There's no logical inconsistency. I haven't thrown money at the Valve for TF2 in years. But if they push out good content, I have no problem with spending money on it. (Though, that looks more and more unlikely with each passing year)

I feel like public sentiment on the game would've improved drastically if instead of adding a bunch of random shit during seasonal events, Valve took any amount of time to properly playtest and filter stuff, even if it resulted in only 1-2 sets and 1-2 maps getting into the game.

Taking Halloween events for example, early events only featured 1-2 maps and most of those are remembered rather fondly (except the part where Valve inserted the shitty truce system against bosses for some reason) and see play today. Meanwhile majority of new Halloween maps just sit in the red and take ages to find players on (not like the maps themselves are any good to be worth the wait)

In the other thread I've mentioned how the people who ask for custom game modes are the first one to drop them and how queuing up for stuff like the map with the seal is going to take half an hour of waiting before the game starts. I've decided to test this theory out in practice.
I queued up just for Selbyen and nothing else. It seems like "half an hour" was not an accurate assessment and after two hours in the queue the game still did not start. Granted this test wasn't done during peak hours but I'd expect at least someone out of the supposed 34k people online to be willing to play on this map. I know that the true player count is lower but it should still amount to at least a couple of thousand players. For comparison I've queued up for Dustbowl and found a game in 2 minutes.
While I was waiting I've joined a private server and played for a bit. I don't know how they managed to do it, but a 2007 game is causing FPS drops on my 2023 computer. The game goes below 60 FPS and it happens when either someone else or I'm shooting a weapon that uses particle effects. How did they manage to fuck something like this up?
As for the event itself, I usually don't play during Halloween and it's pathetic that the only free stuff are the worthless crates. I thought I just needed to play a bit to get something and the only thing that happened so far is that I got a crate that requires money to open and an another weapon I already have plenty of. Is this what's supposed to entice me to return to the game?

Decided to open my Halloween package as the Casual match join timer was counting down. It ended up unboxing as I was connecting. Joined the server and got a notification of "Unboxing in 250..." that didn't go away and blocked all movement. Not even hud_reloadscheme helped, couldn't be a custom HUD bug because I'm on vanilla. Disconnected from the server, popup didn't go away but instead doubled in time, from 250 to 500. Had to restart the game. Certified Valve moment.

You can get Halloween cosmetics from Merasmissions. The problem with Scream Fortress is hardly the lack of free shit. It would be cool to have a skin unlock that's different every year, the same way you obtain DF's Dragon Slayer skin, but this is asking way too much of people who can't even assemble a short list of good cosmetics to add to the game.

I'm interested in seeing how this Scream fortress did Financially for them, the case dropped in price really quickly so I wonder how much they made on keys sales. If the MVM update flops could these be the last "content" updates TF2 gets?

remember cactus canyon? their excuse to put out ugly 10% finished maps to get "real-time feedback"?
valve doesn't

Shame because I always loved that map, even in its unbalanced and low detailed state.

God I hope so, just stop updating the game please. They're never gonna give us Quickplay so just cut off life support at this point.

Matchmaking is still broken. I am located comfortably within NA. Took me ten minutes to queue for a non-halloween game. I just ticked all non halloween maps. Every lobby I've found is half full.

I don't know why nobody is talking about this but when valve removed the restriction of having to complete each contract in order, they also removed the lines which connected each contract icon to represent that order, but then they just left those icons untouched, floating around completely disorganized:

How is this chaotic mess even remotely acceptable?

They made half life 30 years ago so they can do whatever they want with zero criticism.

The people who made that game no longer work at valve so this trait of being beyond scrutiny is wholly unearned.

Tldr valve is a zombie company skinwalking as it's better former self

I really think they just submit their changes without actually checking it. Or they give it a quick glance over, and without proper QA, it gets missed. (That's our job apparently)

It really is wild how Valve is able to get away with dumb and rookie mistakes like this. It happens with all their games except for probably Deadlock since that's their new toy and it has the most eyes on it.

At 13:20 Zesty says he has a girlfriend!!! what the fuck he actually got a gf lmao.
This has been making the rounds on /tf2g/ and was also discussed (iirc) in the actual Zesty thread here like a month ago or a couple weeks ago. I don't believe he's got a girlfriend, look at him for christ sake lmao.

i keep thinking that him mentioning his gf in any way whatsoever is a mistake, and i'm constantly proven right over it

nevertheless for the video he's right, it's been a constant clusterfuck and the mvm update is just the breaking point for a lot of people, will be interesting to see what happens
