TF2's 9 classes are meant for pub play where you have up to 12 players so all roles can be covered. In 6v6 only generalists get to have fun outside of specific scenarios such as last holds (where someone swaps to engi) or surprise tactics. Meanwhile in 12v12 you get to use classes such as pyro and heavy who are normally too slow to keep up and you can have engi players who are actually useful because the benefit of a teleporter outweighs the reduced firepower you get from swapping to engi. Literally the only reason 6v6 exists is because it's easier to organize and spectate, but who actually gives a fuck about comp TF2?6v6 > any format
