He refused to seek help. He is incredibly hindered by his issues and could be a much better guy, but he's still largely responsible for the shit that he's done for a lot of reasons which were already expressed, and some which weren't. I agree that he desperately needs help, but he is not blameless. He does have some level of comprehension of his behavior, which he admits at times.

Something about this guy really bums me out. He's such a seemingly mild mannered dude, but then he gets into his crazy MLP shit and you wonder how he hasn't been committed yet. The level of isolation it must take to get to where this guy is mentally is really sad to think about.

I have to disagree. From what I gathered here, his judgement is severely impaired and due to his alcoholism it will most likely get even worse. The most obvious evidence for that, is that he does not question the 'fact' that "cartoon ponies are speaking to him from another dimension" and also refuses to get help.
Add: Also, my gut feeling says that he might hurt himself or someone else at some point, and that makes me worried.

This is very true. But he is very skeptical of psychologists and their 'fake' science. But this is rather ironic seeing how his portal project involves a group dedicated to psychology.

In the end what he does is his business. He's clearly not a threat to others (yet) and if he chooses to do something stupid or destructive to himself there's not much that can be done to change that. Yeah, it's depressing but I wouldn't pin his problems on isolation; he fried something up in that noodle of his some time ago and he's filling the void with wine and (horse) women. At least he's not carving 'Rarity' into his arm with a razor blade or posting pics of himself fucking stuffed toys...yet.

Oh, of course his judgment is impaired, I never disagreed with you there. Yes, he has had trouble questioning things, even in the past, but for as long as I've known him, questions have been presented to him where he obviously saw the choices he could make, and made none. Or, more accurately, he chose to remain the same. He used to have better judgment, to a degree, and this turnout is the result of his failure to make good choices, back when he could more easily comprehend them, and everyone knew he was conscious of what he was doing. He had the entire community at his back at one point. The choices he'd made that isolated him from the community worsened his condition into what you see today, but before today, there was more to his judgment. This is how I arrived at my conclusion. I know that it seems as though he's simply a... victim of circumstance, but all that could have been done had been done for him. What's been said here isn't even scratching the surface of the madness he's turned loose upon himself and his peers. And by madness, I don't mean literal insanity, I mean other stuff that he easily could have helped, especially when he had friends. For a long while, I was there when he made choice after choice that only made things worse for himself, and every time, I explained to him why. I explained to the very best of my ability, and in a thousand different ways. We got friends to help, we had coordination and contact and communication and so on, but Tax actively chose time and time again to disregard the warnings, despite everything that he understood, that we knew he understood, and pushed more and more of his friends away. How he arrived here, at the blame he places on me, is an afterthought of sorts, the result of denial that he is responsible for his own actions.
Pardon me if I'm not explaining the situation very well. I'm rather tired, and this requires some thought to put to words. The gist of it is basically that a lot of stuff went down which Tax was aware of and understood sufficiently to make a change, and yet nothing ever happened. Hope that's expressed understandably well.

It's pretty much as you said. Nothing can really be done to change his course, at least from our end, so we might as well kick back and enjoy the lulz. As callous as that sounds.

If you have tried to help him, then you have my respect for doing so. But even if he maneuvered himself into his current situation, he apparently can't leave it by himself anymore. If he can't or won't stop himself from sliding further down the rabbit hole, someone needs to pull him out by force.

I've known about Taxman for quite some time. He needs help. Badly, and he needs to stop being an idiot and refusing it. His delusions are most likely becasue of various mental disorders plus alcoholism, becuase I'm sure that even when he's sober from being drunk all the time, his thought process is anything but straight (heheh).
He probably doesnt care about his image to the world by posting all that shit online, but doesn't he rewatch his videos where he spouts from his stream of consciousness and rocks back and forth, making no attempt to reign in his impulses, doesn't he find that embarassing?
He needs to cut himself off from the internet for a few months, delete everything, and start over. Watching him is unsettling and surreal as fuck.
